Last night was gone in pure agony.
We went back in reminiscing a small portion of the time we had cherished with mom.
It was hard to evade what was inside us, the emptiness would never be replenish except it could scooped us in a warm blanket of inexplicable sorrow.
"Dad I'm going!" I shouted and ran towards the door with my bag dangled over my shoulder.
"Aria wait a second!" He came out of the kitchen, still in checked Pj's and glasses tucked on his nose and held his forefinger before went upstairs.
I could hear the sound of drawers as he was probably hunting down for something.
He came downstairs and breathed out and walked over me before held my hand and placed something on my palm.
"Here, take this, It's your mom's, Your grandmother gave her this, it's a heirloom Aria. She kept it to give it to you at the right time, which was I guess your wedding day but I think you need this more now."
My eyes shifted to this dainty memento. It was an Phthalo green emerald gemstone ring molded in marquise cut on the prong, showing it's iridescence as the light flickered to it from the open window through the sheer curtains.
The dazzling platinum shank was carrying the stone with full pride, like divinely. It was so beautiful.
I looked up at dad overwhelmingly and scooped in his arms. He kept it for so many years as a keepsake for me. I pulled back from him and slid the ring in my ring finger which was close to my heart.
I held my left hand up in front of me to look at the ring. A ecstatic warmth engulfed me as the ring adorned my hand. Dad was watching me with his hands crossed on his chest.
"It's beautiful dad, I'm gonna keep it safe with my life on it. I promise Thankyou!!" My words put a smile on his face as I then kissed his cheek and left for school.
°°°°°°
The whole time I was on bus sitting I was engrossed in the ring's charm. The everlasting feeling made me joyous.
The hallway was empty when I stepped in maybe I was late so I started running with loud steps and met with a hard chest but before I could fell two arms secured me in. One behind my head and one around my waist.

I in reflex held the jacket tightly but when I looked up my breathe hitched. An enormous set of two smoldering eyes were staring back at me.
.
Ethan then undo his arms and we stood apart from each other.
"Watch where you're going, these stumbling might give you severe scars," He grated and walked passed me.
"Maybe these scars will let you see what I've gone through too Ethan. Beth was my friend too," My words made him pause as he turned around. His expressions were indecipherable.
"Stay away from me and stop trying to come near me cause you'll just burn yourself Aria,"
"Believe me I'm not even trying. Fate always plays it's role just like it wants Ethan. Neither you or me has a control over it."
I turned back around and plodded to my class, which I was sure late for. I didn't even know why I blurted out those words but deep inside I meant them to core.
The pleasure I got with just his pained expressions assured me that somewhere behind the bad boy, mysterious persona, he was alive. The one who acknowledged his emotions very well.
°°°°°°
I was putting some stuff in my locker when Nate trod towards me. The black shirt he was wearing had a small print of white outlined smiley on the left side, paired with harbour blue jeans. He was looking decent.
"Hey! What are you doing?, ready for the practice today," His smile was so contagious that it already made me feel positive.
"Oh absolutely yess!!, I'm so ready." My reply made him took something out of his pocket. It was a shiny black box, size to his palm.
"It's the puck we're gonna play with, keep it and bring it when we practice," I took it and placed the box in my locker before shut it.
"I don't know if my skates are good as before or I need to sharpen them a little," I shrugged at my own words.
"We'll know it after you skate on them today, If it needed sharpening than give them to me, I know someone who can do that. I'll see you then bye," He pat my shoulder side ways before he left.
He had always helped me so much. Just when Nate was gone Gwen hopped from somewhere with a 'BOOO' behind me scaring the shit out of me.

"You're gonna kill me someday Gwen," I put my hand on my chest when she back hugged me and a Woah! left her mouth.
"Where did you get this ring Aria? It's so beautiful," Her eyes glimmered with a fond look and held my left hand in hers, still hugging from back.
This piece of purity with a glance of extraordinary meaning. A detached segment which linked my spirit to mom's forever.
"Tell me tell me!" Her eyes were beaming with excitement.
"It's my mom's, dad gave me this morning, I didn't expect it and was so overwhelmed by it," I whispered as Gwen put her chin on my exposed shoulder because of my off-shoulder top I wore today with seaweed shade of jeans.
I needed a change so guess this was it.
"It's so gorgeous Aria. It's just like something what Aunt Louise could own. Delicate and gorgeous just like her, she was an angel, indeed."
We were standing still engrossed in sweet melodies of memories when Leo's voice echoed.
"Awww, look at these beautiful best friends, I'm so emotional," We turned around and here he was looking at us like some sentimental grandmother, faking his tears.
"Hey muffin, sorry to breaking your moment but I need my vampire back please, it's daytime, and Ah!" He Shrieked dramatically as his hands covered his mouth in shock.
Cliche'
"She's wearing shorts. She'll burn without me. I'm her safety ring," I threw my head back and laughed out loud at him. Gwen's face flushed crimson with suffusion around her cheek in embarrassment.
"Come on Gwen we can't lose our one and only antique thing, which is you," He ruffled my hair and put his arm around Gwen's shoulder and they both waved before they were gone.
Leo was very responsible. He just act like that around us. I had seen him cry. He had shared everything with us which was nowhere to feel this positive.
His parents never agreed for skateboarding and because of that he started to spent most of the time with us. We all once mistakenly overheard his and his parents fight. Their detestation for his skate boarding was something he had to dealt with.
That's why I had always supported him. No matter what his parents said, if it's something he adored then there was no was I was not gonna appreciate him.
About his feelings for Gwen, It was evident now...I just wanted them to proclaim it by themselves.
I sighed.
Just then a prevailing sentiment of uneasiness and discomfort rushed through me. I turned around but no one was there.
I looked around but only chill air pierced my skin with uncomfort.
Someone was definitely there just now, whoever was there left a portent feeling.
Was I being paranoid?
I shook my head and discarded the thoughts and went ahead to my next and last class.
°°°°°°
I had to taken out my ring to practice. No jewels or sharp things were allowed so I put it in my bag's pocket. Coach said that it had been a long time so we should start from just simple skating to get back on track.
I put my skates on and slid on the rink with slow pace. Everyone was present. Ethan, Gwen, Nate and me. In this tournament both Teams had five players. Our Team lacked one more, and I was sure coach was looking for it desperately.
We all came out of the rink and put on our shoes. According to coach skating was fine and we would start practicing hockey from tomorrow.
I took out the ring and put it aside on the bench before held my hair and tied them in a ponytail with a rubber band.
"Let's go for ice cream!" Gwen asked more like an order but I had to go cafe now. It was getting late. I wore my jacket and slung my bag on my shoulder.
"Not today Gwen I have to go to my job, it's already getting late," I apologized with my hand cupped her cheek softly before glanced over to Ethan who was wearing his shoes.
He glanced back before ignored my existence once again. All while we were skating, we did share glances but didn't say anything. Coach must've noticed too. He knew us very well.
I then left the club hurriedly and made my way out of the school towards the cafe. Life had been pretty much hectic.

Monsters and beasts fill the world, growing stronger by the day, a malignant force is ever present… And strange, bountiful ruins of all sorts remain scattered throughout the world, abandoned yet maintained by faithful servants.
