《How To Train Your Giant (DNF)》Ch 18 - I Am Friends With A Giant

George noticed his mother turned on the light of his room as she crossed her arms. "Where have you been disappearing to?" She asked as George just looked down
"I was..." George didn't want to say his secret, but his mother needed the answer
: I was...
: Where? I don't have all night
: Just...
: Don't say the stable! I was there and came back inside!
: *sigh* I was in the forest
: Doing what?
: I was...hanging out
: With who?
: Dream?
His mother just sighed, "George, you're too old to have imaginary friends. Who's Dream?" George played with his fingers nervously as she began to tap in a constant rhythm
George began to sweat as he stayed silent. "Fine, if you won't tell me, then I guess Wilbur will get it out of you," his mother said as she stood up to leave
"Wait! Mom!" George called as his mother stood at the door of his room. He sighed, "Dream is a giant, a mythical type."
His mother just scoffed, "Mythical giants are extinct! You're lying!" "Mom! Listen! He's the healing type! The green-eyed ones!"
Nikita found it hard to believe, but seeing George's eyes, it seemed like he was telling the truth
: Listen, I have been visiting him
: You've been seeing a giant?!
: He's friendly!
: HE?! Did you name him?!
: NO! He was born with a name!
: And you've been secretly befriending a giant?! If your father finds out, he'll kill you!
: Mom! Please! I love him!
George gasped as his face turned red. His mother gasped, "You love a giant?!" George just began to sweat cold
: Mom! He's gentle!
: Gentle?
: Remember the one you mentioned a long time ago? When I "killed" it?
: Yeah?
: It's that one! He and I became friends, and well, I kind of have a crush on him

: I did say...
: For me to apologize to it! Mom, I hate how we've been harming them! They're like us, but bigger, except for the wild ones, of course, but I have -
: The gift!
The mother gasped as she smiled, "Come with me." George followed his mother as both made it into their library
She looked through some books and found it. "The Giant's Touch?" George said with confusion as his mother smiled, "This is a book for people like you. They are born with a gift that can tame any wild giant."
George looked through the pages and noticed pictures of humans touching the giant, and even the wild ones, but with their touch, they're like the others
: I have the Touch!
: No wonder you've been good at the practices
: You know?
: I've known. Your father doesn't know, but you are, in a way, a mythical prince
: Mythical?
: George, no one is born with the Touch. It is a symbol of bringing every kind together - humans and giants
: I am the prophesied one!
: Phil and I talked about it. We both knew it would be you and Dream, but I just wasn't expecting your giant to be a Mythical type
: So you believe me?
: Of course. Tomorrow, I'd like to visit Dream if that's ok with you
: Can I talk to Dream? He's very sensitive to other people being near him other than me
: Not at all
: Thanks, mom
: I'm glad you finally understand, but I must ask, what will you do on the day of the test?
: I will show them! Giants are not monsters! They just fear us and attack us for attacking them! I will prove they're just harmless, and no matter their size, they can be friendly and gentle
Both hugged each other as George went back to bed. He looked outside. Good thing the wild giants have been staying away from New L'Manburg, but he wants to prove everyone they're not all monsters

Nikita made her way to her room as she heard her husband shuffling and waking up. "Niki? You awake?" he asked as she shushed him, "I am. Just went to get a drink of water."
: Where's George?
: Asleep
: Did he ask about his training? I can give him some tips
: I think he's doing just fine
: I am so *yawn* excited for his test. He's finally becoming a Giant Slayer
: Go to sleep, my darling. Tomorrow is a busy day for the Slayers
: I know. I must have a meeting with them to patrol the forest
: How come?
: George has been going in there. Something's up, but I think he's using it to practice for his test
: I'm sure he is. He's been taking his sword lately
: Goodnight, Niki
: Goodnight, Wilby
Nikita kissed her husband and looked at the moon. He's not becoming a Giant Slayer, he's becoming a Giant Tamer, Nikita thought as she smiled and went to sleep

Leaves of Terranthir
DISCONTINUED - I won't be writing more of this fiction. Check out the latest post for a worlbuilding summary / final thoughts. Leaves of Terranthir is a gamelit blend of ARPG, action, fantasy, and slice of life. It's inspired in part by some of my favourite games, borrowing in themes, sense of exploration, and aesthetics from the Soulsborne and soulslike genre, mixed heavily with arpg itemization from Diablo/PoE style games. While many may remember their Soulslike experiences as nothing more than suffering, I personally loved the sense of progression, to prevail over challenges and monsters that seemed impossible to defeat at first. If any of that seems interesting to you, do check out the first chapter and let me know what you think. Cheers, and thanks for reading. Cover by Baconstrap.
8 193My Hundredth Life
I was an ordinary guy, living an ordinary life, until it happened. What we came to call the "Reality Break". Monsters started spawning in the streets, Mana flowed through our veins, Skills and Abilities were unlocked, and everyone had a Status Screen. I was living my dream, an RPG apocalypse! Until I died, that is. And woke up in a new world...where I died again. And again. With each death, a new incarnation, a new game world, and new scars upon my soul. Now, at my 99th death, I just wish it would end...but unlike in some of the worlds I have "played" in, this time my wish is not granted. *** Author's Note: This is my first 'serious' attempt at writing a story. I am hoping to turn ths into a series that I can publish to Amazon, but my life is a bit hectic right now, so I can't make any guarantees. However, I have serious reasons for writing at this point in my life, so I will do my best to provide this new twist to the LitRPG genre and keep it up for as long as possible. Thank you, to anyone who reads this. *Also, tags might change depending on how the story goes, there may be mild profanity or mild sexual content, but I have not decided yet.

Evan stood on a hill, staring calmly at the gate of his former clan. A crowd waited behind him, some eyeing the clan in an unresigned manner, others looking at their spiritual support. Some of the young children shivered at the gnawing cold. Wind howled in his ears, seemingly deploring his fate. A silvery cloud drifted over the mountains surrounding the compound. The roar of a river could be heard from underneath its frozen surface. He had reincarnated many years ago. Hailed as a prodigy from his youngest age, Evan had seemingly tread on a path to invincibility. He had gotten married with his childhood sweetheart and had cultivated with a group of friends, forming a considerable power of his own. Yet now, here he was, devoid of any path to move forward, with his energy locus destroyed. His wife was dead and his branch had been kicked out of the clan. He looked at his progeny that had been entrusted to him. The baby seemed content in his father’s strong arms, too young to understand anything but the warmth of the father’s beating heart. Signaling to the people behind him, he turned around and the procession gradually disappeared in the distance, as the sun gradually set and the stars acted as a guide. --- Author-san here. I originally started this novel on another account, but lost the login information for it, so I'll be restarting this story here. Thanks for understanding! This is my first fiction, so I appreciate any and all feedback! (^^) The cover picture is by Yuji Himukai (as pointed out by Truis). I found it on the internet. Please contact me if you want to have it taken down. If anyone is interested in drawing a cover, send it to me. I'll put it up if I feel it represents the book well, with your name in the credits.

8 70A World With or Without Aliens
Nothing matters. It's not my opinion, it's a scientific fact. This is neither good nor bad, it just... is. I watched my entire country burn, fried on a patriotic pan after some jerk fired a bunch of nukes at the docile fleet of alien ships hovering over us. Who gave this moron such power? I don't know. Everyone involved is most likely dead by now. As for me, I can't die. I feel pain like a normal person would (I think), but no matter how terrible the conditions, I will never die or pass out. Fortunately, a lot of alien technology survived its crash to Earth, so I get to spend some time playing with it until Mr. Author gets bored and decides to screw up my life. Beware, this has a "harem" tag. If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm the main character and am therefore subject to this novel's timeline. While this bars me from the sweet ignorance of Chapter 1's me, it does have other perks... for example, I can tell you that heroine number one is personally responsible for kil-!? H-hey, back off! I'm your character, so if you didn't want me to be like this, then you should've written me differently! Randomguy here! In all seriousness, this novel is meant to explore the concept of nihilism as a post-apocalyptic/supernatural-scifi/satire told from a nihilistic introvert's first-person perspective. As you heard from my unsettled main character, each heroine is going to be a different type of horrifying socio/psychopath with dark motives and dangerous abilities (most of which are psychological). Why would I do something like this? Because I am, in reality, a nihilist who is often frustrated by weird things, like unrealistically dramatic stories, the industrialization of art (specifically music), and people who think swimming in brown creekwater for five hours is a "fun" activity. Don't get me wrong, neither me nor my character are depressed, we're just malcontents who make a lot of nerd references. I feel like the true essence of an "everything is worthless" perspective is lost on most pop-culture figures. The closest character I can think of at the moment is Rick from Rick and Morty, who is a drunk, angry nihilist that experienced tremendous loss. I, personally, find this belligerent state of mind to be very relatable, and have incorperated it into every chapter's introduction. Here, the main character talks directly to the reader (and me), shamelessly complaining about some semi-relevant facet of society, which probably doesn't make much sense... it's not really supposed to, though. These "angry nihilist" moments are just a peak into the main character's everyday existence, and also act as miniature rage-journals for me. It will sometimes take a subjectively 'positive' turn, but not very often. This is because reality isn't good or bad, "it just... is". I will eventually bring it full-circle to optimistic nihilism, since that seems to be a more practical way to live (and by "practical", I mean "doesn't create mental health issues"). It is, of course, a satire. I did this because most unnecessarily emotional moments or people usually make me feel kind of awkward, so I decided to mock them. That is, I plan to mock the characteristics about them I don't like in characters based solely off said characteristics. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy my story!
