《TROUBLE [twd]》nanami's choice

The bullet flies through the air- hitting the man between the eyes.
As his body falls to the floor, his hold on Maggie also drops and is nearly weighed down by him as she stumbles on her feet in shock.
"Let him go," Nanami warns Merle, pointing to gun to him.
Merle's eyes harden, his blade lingering near Glenn again.
"Son-"
"Shut up!" Nanami snaps, "Daryl and Sakiko are both alive and you know it!"
"It ain't that simple," Merle denies.
"Let's just go, Merle," Nanami coaxes, "Like we were always meant to. Let's just go. No more of this Governor bullshit."
Merle kneels beside Glenn, picking the man up by his hair, "And what about them, huh? We just supposed to shake hands and go on our merry little way?"
"You have two minutes to make up your mind," Nanami explains, "By then, someone is coming here. The others in town heard the shot and they'll start looking. You better think fast."
--
Maybe being stuck in this small space wasn't as bad as Sakiko had first thought.
Maybe it was worse.
After Ryan woke up, she told him that the others weren't back yet. Ryan nodded, assuring they would be back any second now.
Then, it was silent.
Sakiko was never good at comfort.. Both being comforted as well as comforting someone else. It wasn't something she saw a lot of when growing up. She and Nanami were forced to not talk about their issues, even though there were clearly a lot of those, and just deal with it in silence. And not even 'deal with it' per say- more like 'sit there and bask in it because you can't change it'.
So, Sakiko sat against the window while opening and closing her knife to pass the time. She was trying to count how many times she did it, but then something made a sound outside and she got distracted long enough to lose her count.

"You wanna rob a bank?" Ryan suddenly asks.
"What?" Sakiko jumps- both from the abruptness as well as the premise.
"I mean.. Loot..? Search for supplies? I don't.." Ryan sighs, cringing at himself, "Just.. Banks have security and stuff.. Maybe there's some stuff there we could use or.. I don't know."
"Well, usually banks have lock boxes, right? Which means even if there were weapons people stored away, we wouldn't have the keys because the owner would have it," Sakiko explains.
"Ah," Ryan nods, "That makes sense."
Insecurity creeps over Sakiko and she couldn't help but remind-
"I've never stole from a bank.. Only small stores or the teachers. I wasn't-" she groans in agony, "Never mind. This isn't helping my case."
"That was before," Ryan slowly makes out, "Who you are now.. It's not the same."
"I stole from Shane," she recalls.
"Shane was a douche," Ryan shrugs.
"And I was a thief."
"'Was'," Ryan repeats, "You're different now."
Sakiko doesn't say anything to that, only a gentle nod of her head. Ryan's hand eases toward hers and just as she closes the knife again, his hand is wrapped around hers.
"The other day.." he begins.
"I'm sorry," she immediately apologizes, "I crossed the line. I'm sorry-"
Her words cut short as Ryan's lips are against hers once more. It's quick and simple and he pulls back enough to look her in the eyes.
"I'm not," he denies.
Sakiko blinks, trying to wrap her head around his words.
She just admitted to faults in the past- who she was growing up. He was slowly cracking down that wall she'd placed- day by day, piece by piece.
And yet, he didn't regret what was happening between them?
"Really?" she questions, voice sounding smaller than ever before.
Sakiko had many close calls with danger in the past- sometimes staring danger in the face and calling it names. But, she'd never felt as afraid and vulnerable than she did when Ryan was staring at her the way he was.

"Not at all," Ryan shakes his head.
He leans closer and Sakiko's lips part on instinct, eyes fluttering closed. When their lips don't meet, she looks to him again. He chuckles under his breath at her actions as a blush moves onto her cheeks.
"You're so-" Sakiko begins- only for Ryan's kiss to cut her off.
--
"Where's Daryl?" Maggie asks, looking around desperately, "Nanami?"
Glenn falls to his knees, panting through his injuries as Rick looks around at a loss.
"You," he points to Michonne, "Get Glenn back to the car-"
"I'm fine," Glenn argues.
"Sakiko and Ryan are there. Get there and we'll wait around for Daryl and Nanami," Rick continues despite Glenn's words.
"Here," Nanami gasps, stumbling to the group, "I'm here."
Maggie catches him just before he falls all the way- his knees hitting the dirt as Michonne drops as well to keep him up.
"What happened?" Michonne asks, cupping his face in her hands.
"Got winged on the way out," he nods to his shoulder, "Where's Daryl?"
"He's not with you?" Rick asks, looking around the woods.
"I thought he was with you," Nanami painfully reveals, "Where is he?"
The shootout felt like a blur to Nanami who hadn't even fired his gun once- hence the reason of him getting hit in the shoulder.
"We've gotta go back in," Rick orders, standing up.
"He was shot," Michonne hisses protectively, "He's not going back in there."
"No. Neither of you are," Rick denies, "You get him and Glenn back to the car. That's how we keep everyone safe."
"We should get Sakiko and Ryan to come here. We can't do this on our own," Maggie shakes her head.
"Sakiko can't handle a shootout, you know that. Ryan is on standby to get everyone back to the prison. It's the three of us," Rick points to himself, Maggie, and Oscar.
"I can go," Nanami grunts, pushing himself to stand only to fall back into Michonne's arms.
"No," Rick shoots down the idea.
"That's my family," Nanami winces, looking up to Rick, "They're family."
Rick nods, squatting to be eye level with Nanami, "And family is waiting back at that car. Sakiko is there. We can get Daryl, trust us."
Sighing, Nanami gives in with a nod. Michonne wraps his jacket closer around him and helps him stand.
"Come on," Michonne eases, wrapping Nanami's uninjured arm around her shoulder, "I got you."
Nanami nods again, too tired and in pain to argue. Especially with Michonne.
--
Ryan draws his gun, ducking behind the hood of the car as Sakiko holds a steady knife in front of her.
"Ryan?" Glenn's voice travels.
Guards are dropped as the two stand, relief taking over as they see the trio approaching. Ryan is fast on his feet, running to his brother. Glenn groans in pain, but hugs Ryan back just as hard through his pain.
Sakiko lingers, staring at Nanami and Michonne as they make their way over. Michonne steadies him on his feet, letting the teen walk on his own.
"Kiko.." Nanami breathes, limping closer to her.
Sakiko looks to the arm that he was holding- the blood soaking through his clothes.
"Got shot," he swallows, "Getting out from there."
Sakiko's eyes turn to a glare, socking a swift punch to the injury. Nanami exclaims a second's sound of pain before Sakiko's throwing her arms around him. Scoffing, Nanami wraps his uninjured arm over her to hold her close as well.
"You're dumb," she informs.
"I know," Nanami sighs, resting his forehead against his sister's shoulder.
"Don't be dumb anymore," she requests, a broken plead.
"I won't," Nanami assures.

Conquest Of Mortem
*NOTE* This novel is a war of attrition. To say anything less is a disservice to its demand. While comparable to other such works as Ulysses or Moby Dick, each sentence in Conquest is an enemy to be tackled. Not in the ways of difficulty but in absurd density that wishes nothing more than to destroy what patience you may have. Do not tackle chapters as you would ordinary chapters in an ordinary book. Tackle each chapter as a book unto itself. A foe to be vanquished, a period of life to leave behind. Seek to be master of this work. Seek to overcome. For in its design is the willpower, and the perseverance, and the strength of someone who sought meaning in struggle. As I discovered these in times of ultimate desperation, so I hope for you to discover these things. This novel is a love letter to your trials. May you overcome them. May you master them. May you become conquerer.- SeedSagaA literary epic for logophiles, philosophers, and poets alike. A journey into zeitgeist, the impact of media on culture, and the endurance of morality against an onslaught of hatred. These vague descriptions do little to compact Conquest's density into a bite-size summary. They do however relate the basest themes found within. A plot, if such can be surmised, is strung thinly across multiple perspectives, weaving together these concepts into a seemingly distorted tapestry of indecipherable events. Inspired by early 20th century modernism, Conquest will challenge the reader, and provide critique on the medium upon which all great stories are derived. Further interpretation is up to you now; an explorer among a sea of words. Venture on and discover what lies ahead, in...CONQUEST OF MORTEM
