《TROUBLE [twd]》outbreaks and unease

Hershel had woken up that day and the group gratefully celebrated. Both Hershel still being with them as well as the new tactic to keep people around after being bitten. It wasn't practical, but at least they were alive.
But, everyone could still feel how tense the air was as Rick and Shane shot each other glares across the room. How they always had something else to say to one up each other. Like two ticking time bombs.
Sakiko could already tell that once they blew- everyone would be a victim of the destruction.

"My, it's nice to finally meet you," the Governor smiles.
Taking Nanami's hand in a firm grip, the Governor's eyes sparkle at the young man. Nanami nods and as they release hands, he steps to his spot beside Merle.
"So, you're the nephew I hear so much about," Governor inspects, "Can I say.. I see the family resemblance."
Uncomfortable from the comment, Nanami clears his throat and shuffles his feet.
"Nanami here is going to start joining the run crew. We were coming to get access to our own run. A little duo get and go," Merle informs.
"Ah, showing him the ropes, I see," Governor nods, "Well, have at it. Who am I to stop a young man's growing and learning?"
"We'll be out soon, then," Merle nods, patting Nanami's back.
"Actually.. Could you hold off on that for a few days? I need your help with something else. It shouldn't take long."
Merle nods, nodding his head to the door, "Why don't you head back home. I'll come get you when it's time to go."
Nanami looks between the men- the air suddenly stiff like it was bearing a secret. Nodding once himself, Nanami sees his way out, feeling lighter once outside the apartment.

Sakiko had found a broom and so far, it was her biggest cure for boredom in years.
She swept the entire cafeteria, then the first floor of the cell block, and even the stairs. Daryl and Ryan watched her do it- just happy she was doing something to keep her mind occupied that didn't include threatening strangers or Shane.
But, other work needed to be done. Arguably, it was more important than the leaves and dirt on the floor.
"Kiko, we're going to move the cars and burn some more bodies. You wanna go?" Daryl asks, peeking his head into the cell she was at.
Sakiko purses her lips, humming to herself, "Dunno."
"You really just gon' sweep the day away?" he asks, leaning on the frame.
"It's something," she shrugs, "Makes in here better."
Daryl remembers their talk from yesterday, a light smile crossing his lips. If that's what she wanted to do and it would make his girl feel better, he couldn't bring himself to tell her 'no'.
"All right. The rest of us'll be outside. Need anything, you know where to find me."
"Okay," she hums, happily sweeping- imagining all her fears, worries, and pain was going out with the grime.
--
"You keep disappearing on me," Nanami scolds.
"You found me, didn't you?" Michonne asks.
"Still," he sighs, slumping to sit in the chair beside her.
As he does so, a pain shoots through his arm and he cringes, sitting up to the edge of his seat and clutching the area that hurt.
"What happened to you?" Michonne asks.
"Shooting practice," he sighs, rolling his shoulder while cringing in pain.
Michonne watches him, an ache in her heart at his pain that she doesn't let show on her face.

"I met the leader here," Nanami moves the conversation along.
"Yeah?" Michonne asks, scooting closer, "What was he like?"
Nanami tilts his head back and forth, "Kinda.. Odd."
"Odd how? Odd- pervy uncle? Or odd- I might kill you when your back is turned?"
Nanami scoffs at her choice of wording but answers anyway, "Odd- If I pretend to be any nicer then my head will explode."
Michonne gives a long nod, sitting back in her seat.
"He just.. Smiles.. A lot," Nanami recalls, "And seems like one of those weird neighbors from TV."
"I still don't like this place. Mr. Rogers wannabe or not," Michonne scrunches her nose.
Nanami was in too much pain to ask who that was.
"Merle and I are going on a run later. Not sure when- Governor said he needed Merle's help for a bit first."
"They left out. I saw their trucks go," Michonne nods to the gates.
"You really see everything going on around you, huh?" Nanami teases.
"How else you think I kept you alive all winter," she moves to lightly punch his shoulder before remembering his pain and changes to knocking her knee against his.
--
Sakiko was nearly done sweeping the cell block- lost in her thoughts of nothing. Her mind was finally clear like the floor and she hated knowing her sweeping adventure was coming to an end.
Then, she tripped on her own feet when she heard a gunshot.. Then, a second.. A third.. Until they kept firing.
Her breathing picks up, her surroundings feeling far away again and she drops her broom, stumbling until her back hits the wall behind her. She claws at her legs to calm herself down, but the gunfire seems to get louder and more frequent.
"Sakiko!" Maggie yells, voice sounding distant yet so close to the panicking girl.
Sakiko could only stare at the broom she dropped, slowly sliding down the wall.
"Sakiko watch out!" Maggie screams again.
Finally, her eyes dart around, walkers streaming from the door under the stairs. A few pass right by her, not even noticing the girl in favor of Maggie, Carl, Lori, and Ryan.
"Ryan!" Maggie yelps as he breaks from her side.
As a walker reaches for Sakiko, Ryan tackles it to the floor.
"Maggie, come on!" Lori shouts, pulling Maggie to follow her and Carl.
"No! No! Ryan! Kiko!" Maggie cries as Carl and Lori drag her away.
Ryan rolls on the ground with the walker until another grabs his shoulder from behind.
Taking a large gasp of air, Sakiko pushes herself off the wall, kicking the walker away from Ryan.
Ryan fires his gun to the one below as Sakiko stabs the other.
"Kiko, we gotta go!" Ryan shouts, grabbing her hand and pulling her up the stairs.
She repeats Hershel and Glenn's words to her in her head- the other times the attacks have hit her. Clenching Ryan's hand, she allows him to lead the way as she runs on instinct.

Elder's Game
In a world set upon by an ancient threat, a new cycle of civilisation competes for power and resources. Amidst the games and politicking of Elder beings, the masses are unknowingly ensnared in plots and schemes that were centuries in the making. At the heart of the world’s workings lies the Tyreal Valley—a land that promises to fulfil the desires of those who seek it. As a haven for the truly strong, the path to this promise is paved more often than not in warfare and blood. To two young stragglers fighting for more than just their own fates, it is left as their only answer. But maybe that’s just what their enemies want. Magic system vaguely similar to GameLit ones (no system nor interface to help), with certain elements that are a bit more analogue. Politics, war, looming apocalypse, a tiny dash of kingdom building, and a minor bit of crafting. There is a bit of a progression element as well as both environmental and cultural exploration. The story follows two youths more directly influenced by aforementioned Elder beings than most. Neither lead cares for politics but certain situations force them into participating, forcing them to make decisions that shape their morality. Initially, the focus is on the male lead as he comes of age in an environment with little scope to change his future, only to be thrust into new circumstances that permanently kill some of his hopes. 3k words every chapter

Recovery of a Life
The prince of a kingdom was erased from the world. His very existence an enigma. Follow Xopil as he forces his life into a world that refuses to acknowledge his presence. I tried to write a novel without including all the standard things you find in certain genres, or if it is included, I hope it's at least a fresh take on it, this includes me breaking the fourth wall, probably too much. I'm wondering if that helped with humor at all, and also reconsidering if that should be a part of the story. I'm going to be rewriting every chapter at this point... and that chapter I'm extremely disappointed with could likely be deleted if not redone entirely. Now that this story is marked 'completed', I'll be going through each chapter and fleshing out the story a bit, as I found it severely lacking, and I've been saying to myself "I could have done more with that." way more often than I should be. And that speaks to my own dissatisfaction with my writing. I make no warranty-express or implied-as to the quality of these chapters, or the story as a whole. Cover art by Roman Valeyev
