《TROUBLE [twd]》the first kill

Sakiko sits beside the tree, biting her nails nervously as she watches Nanami's slow breathing. She'd been able to drag his body up the hill, though she was quickly at a loss when he wouldn't wake up. Instead, she could only stare at him, feeling useless as he seemed to fight for his life.
Her mind raced, wondering if he'd been following her or got lost. Why was he alone? How had he gotten injured?
The sound of growling soon makes her snap out of her thoughts. For a split second, she feared that the dangerous sound was coming from her brother until she heard a tree limb rustle in the distance.
Panicked, she stands up and peers around the tree, soon spotting the geek walking straight for them. She looks back down to Nanami's unconscious form. She couldn't pick him up and carry him away. But, the geek wouldn't hesitate to chow down on his motionless form.
She reaches to her pocket, pulling out the knife before bending down to pick up a handful of dirt.
Sakiko rushes out from behind the tree, knife in front of her protectively. Drawing her arm back, she lurches the dirt through the air to gain the geek's attention.
"Hey freak!" she shouts.
The geek growls, stumbling away from the area Nanami was in and heading for Sakiko instead.
"Got a whole five feet meal over here for you if your man enough to catch me, Frankenstein!" she degrades, taking quick steps backwards.
The geek growls, getting even closer as Sakiko hurries her steps and turns around to jog correctly.
"Wanna snack on my brother? You got another thing coming for you, meathead!" she sneers, ducking under a tree branch.
The geek gets tangled up in the branch around the waist, only able to snarl and reach for the girl. Seeing the monster's barricade, Sakiko stops running and faces it, keeping her feet ready to run.

"You think I don't know how to end you?" she asks, keeping it's attention, "Daryl told me all about your weak spots!"
She leans back, weary of the geek's arms reaching for her with her knife drawn. Taking slow breaths to keep herself calm, she eases closer and closer to the geek, dodging it's hands that grappled for her. Nervously, she tugs on her bottom lip as she attempts to get the knife near it's head.
Just as she gets close, the branch snaps under the geek's weight and the monster lurches towards Sakiko. Sakiko screams, stumbling backwards as the geek grabs her arm and attaches the other around her waist. She kicks feverously, slapping at the geek's arms to get it off of her as she cries in fear.
Suddenly, the geek goes limp and collapses on top of her, heavier than before.
Sakiko squirms underneath the body until someone finally shoves it off of her with a heavy push.
"Sakiko.. Are you okay?" Nanami gasps.
Tearfully, Sakiko looks to the geek that held a knife in the back of it's head, then to the blood that was covering her front from the stab wound. An involuntary cry escapes her throat as she shivers in terror.
Nanami kneels beside her, tugging his sister into a hug that makes Sakiko cling tightly onto him as she sobs.
--
"He should be back at camp by now.. He probably knows we're both missing now.." Nanami sighs, looking around the woods as though Daryl would show up out of nowhere.
Sakiko piddles with the strap of her bag, forcing her shoulders into a shrug.
"Daryl isn't our dad. We shouldn't have to worry about that."
"He's not our dad, but we were going off together. He's probably freaking out knowing we're gone- especially if they didn't find Merle. Daryl would be all alone in that camp without us."

"Nana.." Sakiko huffs, "Why can't we just stay out here?"
"You were almost killed," Nanami reminds blankly.
Sakiko absentmindedly pulls at her shirt that was still stained with the walker's blood.
"If we leave behind tracks, Daryl can find us. We can go back to him and then the three of us can go just like we planned! Better if Merle isn't there," Nanami adds.
"Look around, Nana!" Sakiko opens her arms to the empty scenery.
Nanami follows, looking around once again, the only movement being a few birds flying overhead.
"We wanted to be free.." Sakiko reminds, "This is as free as it gets!"
"And how long will that last? Until another walker shows up and we can't take it down. Maybe we get lucky and can do it- what happens when there's two? Three? Kiko, we aren't cut out for being out here on our own!"
"You killed that geek earlier," Sakiko purses her lips, kicking at a stick on the ground, "You saved me."
"Because we were lucky," Nanami states, "We can't do this on our own. When I was being chased.. I thought I was done for. We won't make it out of another situation like that. We need to get back to Daryl- the the group. It's safer there."
"Just.. try it out!" Sakiko pleads, "It's so.. quiet.. out here. There's no dirty looks, people being rude, yelling, arguing, hurting each other.. It's just quiet and good."
"And alone, scary, and dangerous," Nanami continues the list.
"Nana.." Sakiko pouts, stepping closer to her brother, "For the first time in my life, I have been doing whatever I want! Saying whatver I want!"
Nanami shakes his head, hating his sister's stubbornness now more than ever.
"There's no one to yell when I get in the way, no teachers saying I need to be put on meds, no druggie dad to beat the shit out of me, no junkies to put me at risk and threaten me.. God, Nana, come on!" she cries, "Just try it out!"
"It's-"
"Fine," she groans, throwing her head back.
Nanami nearly let himself believe she was agreeing to find the way back with him.
"I left since I didn't want to hold you back. So, don't let me. Go back to Daryl, whatever you want to do. I won't beg you to stay."
As Sakiko storms away, Nanami chased after her as he knew he couldn't live with himself if he let her go again.
"Okay, okay!" Nanami sigh, "I'll try out your way.. But, you have to make a deal with me."
"What?" Sakiko asks, placing her hands on her hips.
"We get into danger and make it out, you agree to at least think about going back with me. Or, if I don't like it out here, you have to help me get back."
"Fine," Sakiko shrugs.
"Fine," Nanami mocks, now walking ahead of her.
Sakilo rolls her eyes as she follows after him.

Debut: the day every young gentleperson of age gathers to receive their Spirit Blessing and shift for the first time into their second form. Except for those who don't. Beatrice's worst fear is to be one of the unlucky few trapped perpetually in a human body, cut off from the magic of the spirits and unfit for any respectable pack or pride. But when the time comes to face her fear, the outcome is one she never could have imagined. Be warned, this story is some highly experimental fluff—an unapologetically girly, unrelentingly bisexual, Regency/Victorian-ish fantasy mish-mash. It does have a dark side, though, so don’t come in expecting all sunshine and roses. Worthy of note, given the reputation of shifter stories: there will be no explicit sex in this tale. There will, however, be lots of polyamorous romance, necromancy, portal magic, capricious spirits, elemental mages, an unconventional take on shifters and a highly ordered society built around their existence.
