Kali's pov

I groaned in pain because of the punch I just got, I felt my side burning as I laid on the ground breathing heavily.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry mom" Nadine kneeled next to me and helped me on my feet, she was a grown woman now and we were doing our usual work out where I teach her how to fight, and she was winning.

I looked at her with a proud smile, she had long dark hair and sharp features. Beautiful blue eyes and high cheek bones, just like her mother.

"It's alright honey, I'm okay" I held my side and took a deep breath, Nadine took off her gloves and handed me a water bottle. I smiled and sat on the chair exhausted, she cleaned the sweat from her face with a towel and sat next to me.

"If your mom sees this new bruise she'll scold the both of us" I said with a loud sigh, Nadine chuckle and nodded her head in agreement.

"So are you excited for your new school?" I asked, she was still mad we moved out because she needs to make new friends and meet new people and she wasn't a fan of people in general.

"I'm not excited but it's not the end of the world" she replied drinking from her water bottle, we moved into a different city because Avah wanted something new for the kids.

"Where's June?" I asked, June was our other daughter who was eleven years old, that makes Nadine 18 next month.

"She's at Lina's house, Stacey wanted her to spend the day with her" Nadine replied, Carolina has adopted three kids and she's still single, she said she doesn't think of having a partner and she doesn't think that it's important to raise a family. She has a 19 year old daughter, Alexandra. A 10 year old, Stacey. And the youngest was Liam, he was just 6. Carolina is very happy with her kids and I'm so happy for her.

"Momma said they're coming over for dinner today" I completely forgotten that Lina was coming today with her kids, I even forgot that Stacey slept at her house last night.

"Well, it's almost time we should get ready and help you mom" I said getting up fast but quickly regretted it because my side started to sting.

"Sorry again mom" Nadine said with an apologetic smile, I brushed it off with a chuckle and put my arm over her shoulders.

"That was a good punch, I'm proud of you" I said kissing her temple, I was more than proud if I'm being honest. Nadine grew up to be the best version of herself, she still has nightmares sometimes but she always says that she's fine. I know she still has some problems with her mental health but her mom and I are more than willing to help her.

After I finished taking a shower, I heard different voices coming from downstairs and I knew Lina and her kids have arrived. I put some jeans and a t-shirt then walked downstairs.

"Look who finally decided to come down" Carolina said sarcastically, I rolled my eyes and went to give her a hug. Her oldest daughter, Alex, was the complete opposite of Nadine. Rude, angry and always finds a smartass reply to answer you.

"Alex" I said with a smile, she nodded her head and went to sit on the table. She had a bit of masculine features and Carolina has told me she was intersex like me, I haven't told anyone because she said not to tell them.

"Mommy!" I heard June say as she ran from the living room towards me, I picked her up and hugged her tight.

"How's my baby girl doing" I said kissing her head, I looked at Stacey and she just smiled at me with her toothless grin. She's been a fan of me for a while, so I put June down and pick Stacey up giving her a hug as well.

"Did you have fun?" I asked the both of them, and they nodded with smiles on their faces.

"Nadine! Dinner's ready!" Avah's yelled while she put the food on the table, I put Stacey down and kissed Avah on the forehead then sat next to June.

Nadine's pov

I sighed in annoyance, I had to see her again. She's been going to the rival school for years and now that I moved to this new city I have to go to school with her just because she's aunt Lina's daughter. She was so mean and disrespectful, she didn't care who she was with or who she was talking to.

"I'm coming!" I said walking downstairs, I went and hugged aunt Lina because she's the best and kissed the kids on their cheeks, I of course skipped her because she was busy looking at her phone and I wasn't going to greet her in the first place.

"Nadine, are you excited for your first day tomorrow?" Aunt Lina asked just as we started eating, I was happy I was going to a private school but I was unhappy because I'll have to see Alex everyday.

"A bit, I guess" everyone was having a good time, having random conversations and cracking jokes here and there.

"I'm done, I'mma go home" Alex said standing up, she accidentally pushed the table and spilled my drink all over my dress. I gasped and glared at her, she just had a bored look and didn't even bother to give me an apology. She rolled her eyes and went for the door.

"You bitch!" I yelled, my mom shushed me because the kids were still around the table. But that made Alex stop and turn to look my way, I pushed the chair and went to her.

"Not even an apology?! Are you serious?! You poured the drink all over me!" I yelled at her, she was much taller I had to look up to catch her gaze. She had this stupid smirk on her face and just stared down at me.

"Honestly Alex, fuck you"

"Nadine!" I heard my mom yell at me, I pushed Alex and run upstairs frustrated at her. She's disrespectful, I wanna kill her. She makes me so angry.

I took the dress off and walked in the shower, I could easily beat her ass if I wanted to but I can't because I love aunt Lina and I don't want her to be upset when her daughter comes back home with a busted lip.

I hate that I'll have to go to the same school as her...
