Did the creators of Lion King 1½ ship them when they made them kiss or was it just for jokes?

In this Dangerous World
Walking home one evening after school, Devin was attacked by a monster straight out of a horror movie. Just as she thought she was going to be eaten alive, she was saved--if you can call it that--by something that could only be considered the bringer of the apocalypse, which swallows the first monster as a evening snack. Unfortunately for Devin, this new apocalyptic horror considers her the main dish. In a desperate bid, Devin manages to escape, but finds herself in a strange, dangerous new world far from Earth. Now she must figure out how to survive when everything seems to want to eat her, all while feeling the threat of that ancient eldritch looming ever closer. BEDLAM The Bureau of Extra-Dimensional Logistics, Affairs and Militancy has a problem. The city of Scorched Sands has long since been a crucible of industrial and corporate advancement, attracting many displaced fae from the recently discovered dimensional plane of Gaia. So how can BEDLAM combat a people that cannot be harmed by the hands of humans, demons or even other fae? Simple. Form a taskforce of beings too terrible to be considered people. What happens when Sting and Rogue are beaten by Natsu in the grand magic games?! Well... we've seen that! What happens when they were beaten so horribly they were knocked out for days instead of hours and aren't cleared to return to their inn? Well that's where things go sidestep and start rolling in a different direction. No close calls with death for lector, and a whole lot of new friends and family for Sting and Rogue! Some characters are a little out of character because I'm a pretty shitty author, and I created my own idea for how to portray them somehow so... yeah!(Sting X Natsu)Any Rogue X Erza vibes, and jokes, aren't a ship but rather something quite devious that was cooked up for another relationship, *wink wink* *cough* Jellal *cough*
