《Black Cat » The Vampire Diaries》Scheming Lass

I twirled the pen in my hand, looking down at the page in front of me. Alaric was going on about the second world war, while the rest of the class was either taking notes or ignoring him completely. Caroline was sitting next to me with a bored look on her face, while Elena was behind her texting with a frown on her face.

To everybody else, it seemed Bonnie Bennett had decided to show up for class and actually pay attention however the truth was that I was writing down back up plans to deal with the Kol the Ghost, if he was real.

I already had a plan to make friend-ish with Klaus, just so that neither I or Care are in his to-kill list. I was still thinking if I should tell him that he needed Elena alive, but that would depend on how much of a douche he would be.

Elijah, well I had been planning on mostly ignoring him. Teaming up with him against Klaus was stupid, not to mention the guy was going to spend most of his future days with a dagger on his heart. I wanted to be on his good side, but I had to think of something.

Rebekah was out of commission, so no need to bother with her. Finn was just a nuisance, and also dead until mommy dearest crawls out of her coffin. Kol, the pirate ghost, was the problem.

I was a curious bird, and the guy had basically told me my godly ancestor was keeping a secret from me. Did I want to pry? Hell yes. Did I want to steal from Klaus and possibly die? Not really. Could I pull this off without dying? Maybe.

Now any normal witch would tell the vampire ghost to go die again, and that the ancestors had motives for keeping secrets. I, however, would argue that if there's a secret being kept from me then it's about me and that I had every right to bloody know it. Unfortunately, I couldn't possibly make Tessa tell me, I didn't want to poke that sleeping dragon.

Well, I could possibly make Emily tell me but she answers to Tessa and if Tessa's a dragon Emily is a bear. I did not want to poke that bear either. That left me with Kol.

Now could I somehow find Kol's body, snatch it and not get caught by the evil overlord know as Klaus? Call me arrogant, but yeah I could pull it off. Somehow. But would a secret really be worth it?

Not really but... If I... oh yeah that's genius. Two birds with one stone like a boss.

A smirk graced my lips, if this went well it would be totally worth it. Now I just had to talk with Emily to confirm that Kol the Ghost is a thing and not my fertile imagination. I mean the guy showed up in pirate costume, maybe it was my subconsciousness giving me a sexy pirate dream.

My phone vibrated in my pocket, pulling me out of my schemes for a second. I glanced at it and saw a text from Care.

I sent her a wink and a grin, she knew me so well.

"While I was dealing with helping Elena interrogate Katherine you were having hot realistic pirate dreams with Orlando Bloom and Johhny Deep?" Caroline asked as she followed me into the attic.

"Did you not hear the part about being haunted by an original ghost?" I asked, rolling my eyes.

"Yes sure whatever. Orlando Bloom, details! Did he have a captain hat? And you were dressed as a naughty sea wench right?" Care asked with a dreamy look on her face. "Bet that you looked super hot. I hope you're ready for next Halloween."

I ignored her and grabbed my Grimoire, and grabbed the entry on the Originals.

"Woow, magic invisible book- cool." Caroline said with wide eyes looking at my Grimoire. Right invisible to anyone else but me, I had forgotten about that.

I landed on the page with Kol's drawing and showed her. "Meet vampire ghost."

"So, Orlando Bloom Johhny Deep and a sexy vampire? Is there a spell to share dreams?" Caroline asked, wiggling her eyebrows at me.

"Well, someone seriously needs to get laid." I dryly replied, although amused.

"Yes, you do." The blonde said, giving me a pointed look.

"Whatever, what do you think I should do?" I asked, wanting her opinion on this. I hadn't really shared my whole plan with her, but she didn't pry. I had a gut feeling Caroline had already guessed most of my plan, she wasn't stupid and she knew me better than anyone else.

"Well you did said the guy had been daggered since forever." The blonde replied, glancing at the drawing again. "He does look cute, and remember that time you said that if anybody but the Salvatore's asked you for help you would do it?"

I did remember saying something like that. I remember saying I would even do it for free ... yeah, the free thing wasn't happening especially with the danger of pissing of Klaus.

"Fine." I replied. "I'll check with Emily later. There's no hurry, especially because I need to wait for Klaus to pop up."

"Great. By the way since when did you get such a witchy Grimoire?" Caroline asked, as she took a look at some of the pages.

"Well..."

---

"Why am I here?" I asked, as I kicked open the front door of the Salvatore Boarding house. The 'get to the boarding house' texts were getting annoying.

Damon was sitting next to Rose, while Stefan cleaned the broken furniture from the floor. It looked like a tornado had rampaged through the house. That or a pack of werewolves.

"Bonnie, we need your help." Stefan said, turning towards me.

"Yeah yeah, I figured." I replied unamused. The guy still hadn't learned that I didn't give free help, which is why I immediately turned towards my favorite Salvatore. "Well..."

"Hello wicked witch, let's make a deal." Damon greeted.

"At least one of you still as manners, you should have taught Peaches better." I dryly said, before giving the female vampire in the room a look. Rose was already bitten, a dead girl walking. Well, more dead than usual.

"Werewolf bite, is there a cure?" Damon asked, I could see the worry in his eyes.

"Not now." I replied, deciding to give him a piece of free information since he had manners. Not to mention I couldn't really help with a werewolf bite. "By the time that there is a cure, it will be too late for her. She has about 12 hours before she starts hallucinating, after that 12 more hours until the venom reaches her heart."

"You mean there's nothing we can do?" Damon growled.

"You can find a stake to shove in her heart." I replied emotionless. Really a stake would be a kind mercy.

"I feel fine." Rose said, probably tired of listening to me talk about her imminent death. "Maybe it's just a rumor, nobody knows for sure."

"That's true, we didn't even know werewolves existed last year." Stefan said with a nod.

"I do." I replied with a shrug. "Whether you take me seriously or not is up to you, but If I were in your shoes I would say my goodbyes, get drunk one last time and put a piece of wood in my heart before the first 12 hours are up. After the hallucinations start, it will only get worse and it won't be a nice way to go."

"Well, we've heard you're opinion if you can't help then you can leave." Damon said loudly, pointing at the door.

"I'm sorry it's not what you wanted to hear Damon, but no need to be a bitch about it." I replied, rolling my eyes. Stefan sent a silent apologie, not that it did much.

Maybe I should have been a bit more delicate about Rose's death, but there really wasn't an any better way. To lie would be to give false hope when there was none.

Sometimes she really hated living in a tv show with vampires, death had become as common as rain.

Caroline Forbes had known Bonnie Bennett since they'd been in diapers. They had been best friends since forever, and that wasn't going to change anytime soon. They had made a strange pair- the blonde happy smiley child and the cold and distant intelligent one. Add Elena, the shy and quiet one, and they were a pretty weird trio.

Bonnie had always been different from other children, Caroline knew that much. She never cried, she never played with barbies (except when Caroline basically forced her too), she never threw a tantrum.

Bonnie didn't care about other people in general, she looked at them but didn't really see them. Caroline thought she looked like a person watching a movie- seeing the characters, not the people. She told her that once, Bonnie looked at her with wide eyes and commented that for a blonde she was a genius.

While she didn't care about people, it didn't mean she didn't care at all. Caroline remembers that one time a girl pushed Elena in the playing ground and broke her front tooth, Bonnie had calmly walked to the girl and punched her in the nose then she had turned to the crying Elena and told her to get up and not to be a crybaby. She said it in her cold detached voice, but actions spoke higher than words.

No matter how many times Bonnie says she hates Elena, she cares enough to punch someone who made her cry. Or maybe Elena's crying was getting on her nerves and she wanted to punch the bitch who started it all in the first place, you never know with Bonnie.

Either way, she knows her best friend would never actually say that she cares because she's a tsundere like that. (Yeah Bonnie shouldn't have gotten her addicted to anime, but now she had the perfect word to describe her best friend)

Bonnie spends most of her time bored out of her mind, that's a truth that Caroline figured out ages ago. School was too easy, sports were too mundane. Even when Bonnie started Aikido it only lasted a few weeks before it became monotone. Books, tv shows and movies distracted her but not for too long. Even songs, it was like Bonnie had already heard the new songs on the radio before they came out- she sang along like a pro even if it was the first time they were being played.

Then one day her friend came back from summer vacation and her eyes were shining, and for the first time, she looked really alive. It was like Bonnie had discovered the truth about the universe. Caroline later found out her friend had magic, she thought she should have seen that coming.

Finding out magic was real was surprising. Finding out that her best friend, who was never normal, (normal is boring anyway) was a witch- not so much. Vampire and werewolves (and God knows what else) were real. Cool, super cool.

She thought that those dead eyes Bonnie gave when she was bored would stop because things weren't boring anymore. Magic and monsters we're a thing after all.

Except Bonnie still had those looks. Not when she was doing magic, because that's when she shone like a sun and smiled. But when someone said something or did something, it was like Bonnie already had imagined it before it happened and was disappointed it had worked out as she had guessed. It was mostly with Elena, Caroline had noticed it had gotten worse as they reached their teen years.

When her friend told her she knew the future because she was a witch Caroline could tell it wasn't the whole truth but the fact that she knew what was going to happen finally gave her an answer. Living on spoilers, knowing how it was going to play out, must be so damn boring.

Then the town was turned into a Hellmouth, the Salvatore's came and then the tomb vampires and Katherine. Caroline died, Bonnie killed her. Some would ask, how can you be best friends with someone who killed you? Well, Caroline would say because not even death can break them apart.

That and the fact that she had known about the supernatural for a few years. Knowing that you're not on top of the food chain, that being more than human was possible and the possibility of forever, did make one curious. Since she had roped her head around the fact that vampires were a thing she had imagined, in the dark corners of her mind, how it would feel to be that strong, to be fearless.

So when Bonnie told her that someone was going to try and turn her, she didn't mind. Not because she thought Bonnie wouldn't protect her and keep her human, because if she wanted humanity the witch would kill any vampires that entered her hospital room, but because she was curious and well, curiosity killed the cat. And she asked Bonnie to do it instead of Katherine because she didn't want some vampire bitch to kill her to send a message to the Salvatore's and Elena, she wasn't a chess piece and she definitely wasn't a pawn.

Being a vampire was everything she had thought it would be, especially since her best friend had spelled the bloodlust away. She planned on eventually dealing with her bloodlust, she didn't want to go crazy, full killer muncher vampire, if she somehow lost the charmed bracelet.

She had to break up with Matt, but knowing that she had time on her fingertips also gave her the lust to wonder about what's outside of this small town. While Matt, and sweet as he was, was stuck here because he didn't dare wonder.

But back to Bonnie, even with all this supernatural shit her best friend still looked bored. Playing with the Salvatore's amused her, doing deals entertained her as did scheming. So when Caroline looked at Bonnie during History class and found her not only with her scheming face on but also with her eyes shining like crazy (which normally just happened when the witch was doing her hocus pocus) she was perplexed. What could make her look like that?

She found out, after much teasing and innuendos, that her best friend was being haunted by an Original ghost. At first, she didn't understand why a ghost would make Bonnie have such a look in her eyes until she read the description of the said vampire in her friend's Grimoire.

Kol Mikaelson, also known as the Wildest Original, is known to be menacing, dangerous, cheeky, unpredictable and cocky to a fault.

She noticed the rest of the Original family had larger descriptions, at least personality-wise. The guy sounded like a bad boy, but nothing Bonnie couldn't tame. If she knew anything about her friend was that she wasn't easily threatened.

After her friend explained how she had created her new Grimoire Caroline understood and there wasn't more information on Kol's personality because Bonnie didn't know.

Bonnie who knew everything, didn't know. No wonder she hadn't been bored, Bonnie was intrigued and probably frustrated for her lack of knowledge. Not to mention Bonnie mentioned having sexy pirate dreams with said frustrating vampire. Caroline really wanted to meet this Kol guy, because she had been trying to find a guy for Bonnie since forever and this was the most interested she had seen her friend be. Even if it was because the said guy was stalking her as a ghost, or because she was scheming something for one of her plans and he was part of said scheme.

Either way, this was the closest Caroline had come to get her best friend laid and she wasn't giving up. Maybe it was time for her to scheme a plan of her own, she had learned from the best after all.

Caroline drove home after having lunch at Bonnie's wondering which ship name sounded better- Konnie or Kennett?
