《Black Cat » The Vampire Diaries》Meanwhile on the Other Side

His days now were more interesting than before, even if he spent them stalking a Bennett witch that had a thing for doing impossible things. He still kept an eye on his siblings, not that there were many roaming the world since Nik had a dagger fetish.

He thought Elijah's plans to kill Nik we're amusing because he actually thought he could do it. Please, as if noble Elijah could kill him. He still felt guilty about helping mother curse Niklaus and never helping him with Mikael.

The noble Elijah wants to avenge us, his dear siblings whose bodies were thrown into the sea... Spare me, I've heard more realistic things come out of Shakespear's mouth.

He and Fin were never part of the whole 'Always and Forever' promise. They just saw them as nuisances. Fin with his suicidal ideas, and him with the destruction he created. If anything, what Elijah was planning was all about Rebekah. Poor dear Bekah, who always stayed by Nik's side to end up with a dagger in her heart like the rest of us.

His family drama had gotten old after a thousand years really, which was why he preferred to stay away from them most of the time. They liked to nag him about his behavior, but not like they ever tried to understand why. He was just a wild maniac to them, so he played the role and had come to like it.

"Are you coming to school?" He heard the blonde vampire ask his impossible witch, who was finishing her food. "I took a lot of time to get ready because Damon was interrogating me about Tyler, then I got to school and I didn't even manage to go to Maths because Stefan asked me to go see you. So I at least have to go to Science or my mom will kill me."

"Meh." His witches shrugged. "Let's be honest Care, since this supernatural shit hit the fan we just go to school when we feel like it. I don't even have compulsion but people just don't give a damn, they think I'm acting out because of my Grams and they just let me be. It's not like my dad is around to go to the school meetings and stuff, so it doesn't really matter. Plus I can pass the exams easily."

"Lucky you, I still have my mom who is aware of compulsion so I can't even use that to get a jail free pass." The vampire let out with an exasperated sigh.

"My witch has the right idea baby vampire." He said, not like they could hear him but still. "What's the point of going to a place where they force you to sit still and listen for hours to random information?"

"Lucky me." Bonnie replied with a smirk. "Now get going or you'll miss science."

"Yeah, yeah I'm going." Caroline replied, getting up from the booth in the grill where they were eating and grabbed her bag. "What are you going to do? Are you going to help the Salvatores?"

"They can handle it I'm sure, they didn't even need me. It's not my fault their dumb and didn't even think about GPS tracking." His witch replied, and while he wasn't sure what that GPS thing was he was pretty sure she was just mocking the annoying vampire brothers than roamed around this town. "I'm going to go home to train my newfound spying abilities."

"You go do that, meanwhile into prison I go." The blonde replied, giving the witch a quick hug. "I'll call you later, and be careful."

"I always am." Bonnie replied as Caroline walked away, only to hear the vampire laugh as she left.

"No, you're not you impossible witch." He commented, from where he was sitting next to her. "But careful is boring, and you little witch are anything but boring."

---

He watched her as she sat down on the floor of her living room with her legs crossed and her eyes closed. He sat right in front of her and observed her carefully.

Her dark brown hair fell into her shoulders freely, creating soft waves in her chocolate colored mane. Her forehead was frowning in concentration, giving her a very fetching look. She was softly biting her lower lips, and for a moment his stare remained there unmoving.

All of a sudden she let out a gasp. He watched as all emotions left her face, leaving behind something akin to a marble statue. Where once stood an impossible witch full of emotions now stood an empty vessel.

"Now where are you off to little witch?" He wondered, narrowing his eyes at her figure. "I'm not one to miss out on the fun stuff."

Kol Mikaelson had seen enough magic perform during his long life to know that his witch was taking a walk in the astral plane. How she did it so quickly and without any assistance, that was another mystery apparently. Young witches normally used spells to help them into the astral plane, astral projection was something you mastered with time. Older witches just burned some wormwood to help out.

He was just going to had this to the list he was mentally creating about one Bonnie Bennett. He was calling it 'The Very Long List of Impossible and Mind Boggling Things About Bonnie Bennett' for the moment, but it was still a work in progress.

"She's astrally projecting to were the doppelganger is." A female voice said behind him, making him jump out in shock. Technically he really hadn't had much company in the past century, nobody could blame him if he was jumpy hearing someone else.

"Who are you?" He growled out, turning towards the witch that stood behind him. It wasn't Qetsiyah, but from the looks of it, it was another Bennett witch.

"I'm Emily Bennett, one of Bonnie's teacher you might say." The witch replied, with a smile on her face. For some reason, he felt like that smile was a mask because this witch felt dangerous to him. Not like Qestiyah mind you, that one was just plain terrifying, but dangerous none the less.

"If you're one of her teachers why are you telling me where she is?" He asked, trying to understand where this witch stood.

"I'm aware of the mission my ancestor gave you. Even if from this side you don't have much power to protect her you presence keeps other souls from messing with her." The witch, Emily replied. "My presence protected her some, but witches respect and fear you enough to leave her alone."

"Who would want to mess with her?" He asked curiously. No one was messing with his witch, at least until he figured out all her secrets, that is.

"All the witches that died trying to use an elemental binding ritual for one, they want to see where they failed. Most of the Elementarist witches want to see her too." Emily replied. "While that would normally be fine such a large among of souls clutching to her would be troublesome, especially because there are also many ancestors not pleased with the attention she is getting from Qetsiyah."

"So basically, witches being jealous bitches." He summarized.

"I see someone has been learning new vocabulary." The witch replied amused. "But yes, that seems like an apt description. Now I'm sending you to her, in the astral plane she needs protection more than ever."

"Fine." He huffed, being bossed around by Bennett witches was getting somewhat annoying. First Qetsiyah now this one, why did he have a feeling that he would get used to that?

Emily smiled again, that annoying mysterious smile of hers, and gave him a light push on the shoulder, sending him to his witch.

--

One minute he was in Bonnie's living room the next he was in an old abandoned house. He looked to his right side to find his witch looking at the scene in front of her amused. She was translucent, obviously an effect of being astrally projecting.

Another thing to add to his list was the fact that she could easily astrally project so far away from her body. He noticed the doppelganger and he knew from the locator spell she had done before this house was a few hours away from Mystic Falls.

Next to the doppelganger was Rosemary, a face he hadn't seen in a few centuries. One of Klaus's groupies in the fifteenth century. He only stayed with them in England for a few months before the whole doppelganger ritual attempt thing, he seriously didn't want anything to do with that so he left to explore Asia. According to what he knew Rosemary was in Klaus's wanted list, much like Katerina.

All of a sudden another known face enters the room.

"He's here!" Trevor, the other wanted traitor said obviously nervous. "This was a mistake!"

"It really was." He heard Bonnie said next to him, but no one else could hear her. Unfortunately, she couldn't hear him either. Not being heard really was the worse thing about this hell.

"No, I told you I would get us out of this. You have to trust me." Rosemary replied.

"No! He wants me dead, Rose!" Trevor replied.

"Don't tell me Nik is coming for the doppelganger." He groaned. He really didn't feel like watching his brother's old 'I'm-the-Original-Hybrid' routine, especially if he actually broke his curse. He was annoying cursed, God knows how he would be uncursed.

"He wants her more." Rosemary told him."I can't do this. You give her to him, he'll have mercy on you but I need to get out of here." Trevor said, wanting to flee.

"You really should have done that." Bonnie commented as she watched everything unfold like a movie. "Too bad you're idiots and he's going to chop your head out like a rotten tomato."

"Hey! What are we?" Rosemary asked, calming him down."We're family, forever." Trevor replied.

Kol groaned out unamused. "Another annoying forever pledge? Unoriginal."

Someone knocks on the door and everybody in the room freezes up. He knows it's one of his siblings outside and, if they know about the doppelganger, they'll soon go to Mystic Falls. A plan surges in his mind, a plan for freedom.

"You're scared." The doppelganger comments. The vampires ignore her.

"No shit Sherlock." Bonnie huffs, rolling her eyes at her.

"Stay here with her and don't make a sound." Rose instructs and leaves the room. Bonnie follows after her, and so does he.

Both of them stand behind Rosemary as Elijah opens the door and walks through.

"Elijah huh?" He comments, half sneering at his older brother. "I'm not sure these guys are idiots or not by dealing with him instead of Nik."

"Damn." Bonnie comments, and he looks at her in surprise. "That's some good hair. Classy vampire in a suit."

He gaps like a fish.

"No, don't do that." Kol said, shaking his head. "Don't look at him like that."

This witch was under his protection, his impossible witch. Nowhere in that sentence was the name Elijah or any of his siblings, because they had nothing to do with it. She better not get mixed up with his family.

But then again it's Bonnie he was talking about, she would probably get mixed up with his siblings but only to extort a large among of money from them for some ridiculous easy spell, like a locator spell or something.

"Rose-Marie. Is there somewhere we can talk?" Elijah asked, narrowing his eyes at the disgusting looking house. Ugh, he was pretty sure her name was Rosemary, but whatever.

"Better change that to the fancy vampire in a suit with some OCD." Bonnie commented amused, walking around his brother as if to analyze him.

"Yes, in here. You have to forgive the house." Rosemary said, leading him to a much cleaner room."Oh, no, what's a little dirt? I completely understand." Elijah replied, but it still sounded like he didn't want to get his suit dirty. "So tell me, what is it that gives you the courage to call me?""I wanted my freedom. I'm tired of running. You in a position to grant me that?" She explained. "I have complete authority to grant pardon to you and your little pet." Elijah replied. "What is his name these days? Trevor. If I so see fit."

"Liar." He and Bonnie said at the same time. He shot her a glance and smirked, so she wasn't completely blind to his brother's many faults that's good to know.

"Katerina Petrova?" Rosemary said, now having Elijah's complete attention. "I'm listening." The Original replied."She didn't burn in the church in 1864." Rosemary informed. "Continue.""She survived." Rose said, and Elijah narrowed his eyes slightly. "Where is she?" He demanded. "You don't seem surprised by this." Rosemary said, taking in Elijah's relaxed pose. "Oh, when you called and invited me into this armpit of civilization, which is a mere three hours from the town we know as Mystic Falls, I surmised it had everything to do with Katerina. Do you have her in your possession?" The Noble Original explained. "No, but I have better. I have her doppelgänger." The vampire informed."That's impossible, her family line ended with her. I know that for fact." Elijah replied, skeptical.

"The facts are wrong." She replied.

"Well, show her to me." Elijah demanded. "Elijah, you are a man of honor, you should be trusted but I want to hear you say it again." Rose said."You have my word that I will pardon you." Elijah promised.

Bonnie rolled her eyes. "Silver tongue indeed. I shouldn't be surprised, he is a Viking and they did worship Loki as the God of Lies. I'll have to tread carefully with this one."

"I'll have you know that Elijah, along with father and the rest prayed to Odin and Thor." He replied to her, even if she couldn't listen. "I was the only one that prayed to Loki because he was also the God of Mischief, which made him the best God of all."

"Follow me." Rosemary said, taking him to the main room. Both of them follow after.

Elena hears them enter the room, and turned her head to look at Elijah. The doppelganger is scared but pretends to be otherwise.

Elijah looks at her surprised and rushes over to at vampire speeds. He stops in front of the girl and smells her neck.

"Creepy." Bonnie comments, before taking a look closer at Elena. "She's keeping up much better than I remembered she would. That's actually surprising."

Kol stares at his witch perplexed. Remembered? So she didn't see, she remembered? How? Time travel? That would be impossible. But again she was impossible. Another thing to add to the list.

"Human. It's impossible." Elijah commented. "Hello there."

"She's really possible because Katerina was probably a strumpet and had a kid out of wedlock much like the original menace, Tatia." He said, replying to his brother. "The impossible one is the witch."

"We have a long journey ahead of us. We should be going." Elijah informs Elena."Please, don't let him take me." The doppelganger begs, looking at Rose. The vampire ignores her. "One last piece of business and we're done." Elijah said, walking towards Trevor.

"Here it comes." Bonnie said, with an expression that showed she both wanted to watch it and thought it would be gross. "Elijah the fruit ninja."

"I've waited so long for this day, Elijah. I'm truly, very sorry." Trevor said, begging for forgiveness. "Oh no, your apology's not necessary."The Original replied casually. "Yes, yes it is. You trusted me with Katerina and I failed you." Trevor replied. "Oh yes, you are the guilty one and Rose aided you because she was loyal to you and that now I honor. Where was your loyalty?" Elijah asked, obviously not pleased. "I beg your forgiveness." Trevor begged once more. "So granted." Elijah replies. Trevor smiled at him but the next second Elijah smacked Trevor's head clean off his shoulders, making blood rain all over the place. Rose cried out in shock while Elena gasps out.

"You...!" Rosemary growls out, ready to attack.

"Don't, Rose, now that you are free." Elijah informs, before looking at Elena. "Come."

"No, what about the moonstone?" Elena asks, trying to negotiate.

"Pretty as a painting but dumb as a door." Bonnie let's out with a sigh.

"Trying to negotiate with my brother without no real upper hand, very stupid indeed." Kol said, nodding along.

"What do you know about the moonstone?" Elijah asked, narrowing his eyes at her. "I know that you need it and I know where it is." Elena replied. "Yes?" Elijah asked as if telling her to hurry up. "I can help you get it." Elena informed while Bonnie rolled her eyes. "Tell me where it is." The Original demanded. "It doesn't work that way." Elena said, somewhat sassily. "Are you negotiating with me?" Elijah asked amused, before looking at Rose."It's the first I've heard of it." Rose replies, still shaken from Trevor's death.

Elijah looks into Elena's eyes and tries to compel the information out of her, but it doesn't work. He notices her necklace and asks. "What is this vervain doing around your neck?"

Kol looks at the necklace and recognizes it as it is the one Rebekah always wore, the talisman that once belonged to their mother. He wonders how it ended up in the doppelgangers paws, but shrugs it off. Even if he finds it strange Elijah didn't recognize it.

Said Original pulls the necklace of Elena's neck and throws it away not giving it another glance.

"Tell me where the moonstone is." He compelled.

"In the tomb, underneath the church ruins." Elena replied, compelled.

"Good to know everything is going according to plan." Bonnie commented with a smirk. He knew that she had the real moonstone, what she planned to do with it however remains a mystery.

"What is it doing there?" Elijah asked. "It's with Katherine." Elena replied, still compelled.

"Interesting." Elijah comments, obviously happy to know the location of the runaway doppelganger.

All of a sudden they hear glass breaking from upstairs. "What is that?" Elijah asks, narrowing his eyes at Rose. "I don't know." She replies."Who else is in this house?" The Original demands. "I don't know." She repeats.

Elijah grabs Elena and they speed into another part of the house, while two vampires move around them with their super speed. Kol obviously recognizes them as the idiotic vampires brothers that his witch does business with. Not to mention he's pretty sure one of them dated Bekah in the twenties, but then again he never stalked his sister much.

Elijah throws Elena in Rose's arms and glares at her, demanding answers. "Rose."
