《Black Cat » The Vampire Diaries》God-like Ancestor

What are you supposed to say when your ancestor, who's very much dead and older than dirt, appears out of thin air in your kitchen one morning?

"What the bloody fuck?" I squeaked in shock.

"Hello." Tessa replied, wiggling her fingers at me with a teasing smile on her face.

"What are you doing here?" I demanded, half forgetting I was talking to the god-like witch that invented immortality.

"Can't a girl just visit her descendants?" The older witch replied casually, obviously enjoying my distress.

"No." I dryly replied. "Not in the morning, and not without at least knocking."

Qetsiyah narrowed her eyes at me slowly, before letting out a chuckle. "I see now why you've been reborn into my line. Bennett witches must have a backbone."

At the mention of reincarnation I froze, she knew. I wanted to be surprised, but actually not really. I mean she's the most powerful witch of all time, if Emily could figure it out so could she.

"Why are you here?" I slowly asked, looking at her with a penetrating stare.

"So suspicious..." She said, glancing at me slowly. "Not bad, at least it shows you have some smarts."

I continued to stare at her unemotionally, without any reaction, waiting for her to continue.

"I need a hand with something..." The older witch declared. "And aren't descendants supposed to be filial or something?"

"This isn't ancient China, so maybe add a please or think about something I would want in return for a favor." I replied, rolling my eyes at her attitude.

"You talk like a mercenary." Tessa replied, more amusement than angry at me. "You'll go far with that attitude. Well then, what do you want?"

"Depends." I replied, this time more curious about this sudden visit from the other side. "What do you need?"

"You know what I want." Tessa replied, with a look that told me she knew all my secrets.

"Silas stuck on the other side so you can torture him for eternity?" I asked in a casual tone. In the show getting Silas to the other side had always been her endgame, I could only assume it was because my ancestor still wanted to go on with her vengeance quest.

"Obviously." The older witch said with a sweet smile that contrasted with what she was saying. "Getting all of the doppelgangers brutally murderer or maimed would also be a bonus. But that's not why I came at this time."

"What do you need then?" I asked perplexed.

"The other side, it's my playground. I rule it and control it, as I've done for the past two thousand years. Witches from my blood get some benefits if they're useful to me, but no one else is supposed to have power enough to leave it." She explained. I nodded along, getting the gist of it.

"Someone has been trying to leave?" I asked, already thinking about Esther Mikaelson and Marcus.

"A whole damn lot actually, but some have been giving me some headaches." Tessa replied. "Emily told me that the Original family will soon return, isn't that right?"

"Let me guess, you want me to stop Esther Mikaelson from leaving the grave?" I replied with a sigh. Great, my scary ass god-like ancestor is pitting me against the original witch? Why does it feel like she's just doing this for her own entertainment?

"Indeed, the world doesn't need the Original Witch running out and about." Tessa replied, and I could feel her distaste for Esther from a mile away.

"What up with the hate fest?" I asked curious, in cannon those two never even meet.

"That wench stole my immortality spell from one of my descendant's grimoires and was dumb enough to perform it while twisting it away from what it originally was. She could have at least murderer the doppelganger whose blood she used for the spell, but she wasn't even useful for that. Never mind the fact that she has spent the past thousand years on the other side agglomerating power that doesn't belong to her while moaning about the abominations she created and bringing balance back into the world." Tessa ranted, Esther apparently really pissed her off.

"I get it, Esther's a bitch. What else is new?" I replied, trying to calm her down a bit.

"Exactly." Tessa replied with a grin. "Now, are you in or are you out?"

"What can you give me in return tho?" I replied, arching my brow at her. Getting rid of Esther was all good and dandy, but I don't work for free.

"That little ritual of yours, you were dumb enough to do it without enough preparation and now you have no idea the results and the consequences. I'll teach you how to control it, unless of course, you want to end up fried for witchcraft." She replied.

"You do know that witches were hanged not burned right?" I replied although I was pleased with this little business deal. Learning from a god-like witch? Heck yes. Let's just hope she isn't as spartan as Emily... who am I kidding, Qetsiyah is probably ten times worse. "But sure, sound like a plan."

She rolled her eyes at my question, and then smirked at me happy that I agreed and waved her hand at me. "Well then, I have another brat to talk to.Talk to you later frosty."

With that, she disappeared and I was once more alone in the house. I looked around for a second just to be sure, before letting out a sigh and crashing down on the nearest couch.

Damn, and I thought dealing with Emily was bad? I had spent the past few minutes pretending to be either annoyed at her presence or at least unconcerned, but damn, that woman was terrifying. Her power was suffocating, she gave off the feeling of a panther ready to strike. Not to mention she knew about me being reincarnated, which is like my most guarded secret.

Seriously, one talk with the woman and I'm a nervous wreck. I'm not stupid, being afraid of someone more powerful than you is a natural response, but on the other hand, I didn't feel afraid, I felt excited. I'm going to learn from her! Let's just hope I don't die during said lessons.

Meanwhile on the other side

Being stuck in ghostland since 1914 wasn't entertaining. He knew he was daggered, he remembered receiving a dagger in the heart for Christmas. Of course, Niklaus probably thought that was an appropriate gift, wanker.

He had been daggered before, but he didn't remember ever being in this accursed placed, which meant that when he woke up he would not remember. So even if he spent his time stalking his siblings, at least the ones that weren't stuck in coffins next to his own, any information would be unuseful. He could spend his time observing the most powerful covens from this side of the veil, and it still wouldn't matter. This prison made everything bland, and he was bored out of his mind.

Right now he was sitting on a bench in the french quarter observing people pass him by. He spent his days either haunting Nik, he enjoyed mocking his brother's evil plan even if the wanker couldn't hear him, or in his favorite city- New Orleans. Marcelus was ruining this place, New Orleans without magic was like Christmas without some bloodshed.

"This city, once full of magic now feels empty." A female voice said, and he almost jumped when he noticed the appearance of another person next to him. Almost a century in this place and he hadn't met or talked to anyone in all that time.

"Who are you?" He growled out, annoyed at this strange woman who reminded him of his dear old mother. If not for her amused look, then for the ferocity of her power.

"Do you know where you are Kol Mikaelson?" The woman, obviously a witch, inquired looking at him amused.

"I'm daggered, which means I'm on the other side." He replied, frowning at her. "I've been here for enough time to know that I've been here before, which means I'll forget this when I wake up like I always do. So what do you want?"

"I need to show you something." She replied, this time even more amused after his rant. "Don't worry, you won't be able to forget her."

"How about introducing yourself, you seem to know me but I've never seen you before." He replied, not sure if going with this strange witch would be a good plan.

"My name is Qetsiyah." She replied with a smirk, and he almost lost his breath. "From the looks of it, you've heard of me."

"Just legends." He replied, now even more cautious than before. The witch that invented immortality and the one that imprisoned Silas. That's all he knew, but still, this woman wasn't simple.

"Come, I have something to show you." She said as if whatever knowledge he had didn't matter, and put her hand up inviting me to take her hand. He knew that pissing this one of could be problematic, so he took her hand quietly.

The next second they were somewhere else, but while before had been during the day this was obviously during the night. He looked around and noticed they were in a bathroom that was full of candles. He took in the scene and quickly understood that someone was about to do an elemental ritual.

Now, the last time he had seen someone try something like this, the whole coven died in mere seconds. Witches and warlocks had been trying to be one with nature since forever, but the human body couldn't stand such wild and powerful forces.

"Why am I here?" He asked, glancing at the witch who was looking at someone in the corner of the room. He followed her eyes and saw two girls, a perky blonde and a serious brunette. From the looks of it, the brunette was a witch, while the blonde was either a human or a vampire.

"Shut up and watch." Qetsiyah replied, making a hand movement that brought life to the girls in the room. This was most likely a memory, and they were just visiting.

He decided to keep quiet for now, already expecting this to turn into a death scene. He saw the blonde girl bite herself and give the other one some blood, and smirked. At least they had a backup plan, and a witch willingly taking vampire blood, that's new.

He saw the green-eyed brunette start chanting, and was even more surprised. She wasn't trying to bind one element but two, was this girl mentally insane? Didn't she know that never, in the history of time, had rituals like this worked? Never mind with two elements.

He watched her walk into the frozen bathtub and emerge herself underwater. He let out a sigh, it was a pity that such a young witch was going to lose her powers and join the undead community.

He was about to ask Qetsiyah what was the point of this when the blonde vampire ran to the bathtub and pulled the witch out. He let out a gasp when the witch let out a breath, obviously alive, and was even more shocked and he saw her eyes turn a icy blue.

"How?" He whispered, looking at Qetsiyah waiting for an answer. No matter how many witches trying, not one of them managed to actually forge a connection to an element of nature. Sure, witches could channel nature, but actually become a part of nature? Impossible.

Witches were human, and humans couldn't take into themselves that kind of power. Unless...

"I guess you noticed?" The witch next to him asked, with a somewhat impressed look on her face.

"A human couldn't make it." He replied, his eyes fixated on the girl who still had pieces of frost and ice on her hair. "She's not human anymore."

"Indeed," Qetsiyah replied. "Not that she knows that, but this is the first time a new species has been created by magic since the turning of your family."

"But the ritual, it wasn't even that advanced." He mumbled, taking a look at the drawings on the floor. "How could it had led to this?"

"Well, let's just say that if it was any other witch they would be dead." She replied, and he could hear some sense of pride in her voice. "My little descendent is one of a kind."

"Descendent?" He asked, but wasn't even that surprised. Dead witches, and dead supernatural, in general, tended to keep an eye on their bloodlines.

"Her name is Bonnie Bennett." She explained and waved her hand. All of a sudden we were out of the memory, and in some kind of school. I followed Qetsiyah's gaze, and saw the little impossible witch leaned on a locker talking to her blonde vampire friend.

"Why show me this?" He asked, still not understanding where this was going.

"I have a job for you Kol Mikaelson." She said, smirking at me. "Do this thing for me and you get one death-free pass from the other side."

"You mean I'll be undaggered?" He asked, somewhat hopefull.

"Yeah, no." She replied, rolling her eyes. "I'm dead too, I can't go running around taking daggers out of hearts in the real world. But, do this one thing for me and If you ever, like actually die, I'll resurrect you. How's that?"

"I'm immortal." He deadpanned. "I don't need a death-free pass."

"Are you sure?" She asked, and something in her eyes told him that she knew something he didn't. Yeah, this witch really reminded him of his mother, with her cryptic ass messages. But it also put doubt in his mind, maybe having a death-free pass could come in handy.

"Fine. I'll keep it for a rainy day." He said, shrugging his shoulders in a relaxed way.

"Already agreeing without knowing what I need you to do?" She inquired amused. "Well, that's even better then. So your mother is trying to get out here, into the real world, to kill your family off. I don't like people escaping my prison, so we need to deal with that."

"So what?" He asked, not even batting an eye at the knowledge that his crazy ass mother was out to kill them all. "You want me to go kill her ghost?"

"No idiot, the only way to deal with her is to wait for her to use all her power into her resurrection and then killing her." She replied as if it was obvious. "Frosty is already on the job for that, your job is easier."

"Really? Easier than killing my mother?" He asked sarcastically, understanding that by Frosty she meant her descendent who could now control both water and air, and also ice. "Please, the girl won't even need to raise a finger, Niklaus will just kill mother before she even tries something."

"Your job is to make sure that Bonnie Bennett doesn't die." Qetsiyah replied, and he narrowed his eyes at the serious look on her face.

"Explain." He demanded, something smelled fishy here. Sure, witches like to protect they progeny, but a death-free pass for protecting some descendant, even if said witch just turned herself into a never seen supernatural creature, just sounded weird.

"You killed off a bunch of Silas's groupies to stop hell on earth once didn't you?" She asked, still in the same grave tone. "If you don't want hell on earth, she can't ever die."

"She'll die eventually." He replied, hoping to get more insight into this.

"Maybe." She shrugged. "But let me assure you, that if she dies the possibility of hell on earth is of 95%. I said she's special, the moment her soul enters this side of the veil everything will go to shit."

He glanced at her face and he could feel the hidden panic in the ancient witch's voice. She wasn't lying, for whatever reason if Bonnie Bennett entered the other side it would be destroyed and all of the souls in here would be released.

"Fine, I'll protect her." He nodded, he didn't want every supernatural he ever killed to come and haunt his ass. Not to mention, he was intrigued. What made this girl, this Bonnie Bennett, special? How could she survive that ritual? How could her soul unravel such an ancient spell such as the other side? He wanted to know. Kol Mikaelson is nothing if not curious by nature, after all. "I'm kind of daggered at the moment, how am I supposed to protect her exactly?"

"Your mother will resurrect herself soon, and If she wants to kill your family then you all need to be awakened." Qestiyah replied with a smile, this one more real than the smirks and grins from before. "Meanwhile I'll teach Bonnie, after that it's your job to protect her. Goodbye Kol Mikaelson."

"Wait!" He exclaimed before she could disappear. She stopped, and looked at him with an arched brow, waiting for him to speak. "Why me? Why ask me?"

"I like you." She replied with a lazy shrug. "We hate the same people. Your mother, the doppelgangers, Silas and his groupies. You're strong enough to protect her and you respect witches. Oh, and don't worry, I'll make sure you remember this when you wake up."

With that, she vanished and he only had time to blink. This was definitely the weirdest encountered he ever had, and he had lived for a thousand years.

"I didn't know at the time but after that, thanks to my annoying god-like ancestor Tessa, I got a ghost stalker that put Edward Cullen and Angel to shame. Nothing could prepare me for when Elijah took the dagger out of his heart." - Diary of Bonnie Bennett, page 59

A/N: So, I've update finally, sorry for the long wait!

did you all think of Tessa? And what about Kol? I want to remind you all that this Kol has spent the past 100 years alone knowing that whatever he doesn't won't matter in the long run, his more subdued and more in control of himself than when he wakes up after a 100-year-old nap. This time he might be a bit different because this time, he'll actually remember 100 years of complete solitude and of course the enigma that is Bonnie Bennett. Tell me your thoughts!
