《Silence - Adopted By Elizabeth Olsen》3.

It's been more than a week since I started this 'internship'. Casey has handed me a few more of her drawings and they are incredible. I'm a bit shocked that a 6 year old can be this talented, especially compared to her classmates.

I agreed with my manager to prepare for my role in this town, because I would be less likely to be harassed by paparazzi. So far nobody has recognized me or at least they're not showing that they have. And I must admit that it feels liberating.

But I do miss home, I miss my family and friends so you can imagine my excitement when Scarlett told me she was visiting for the weekend.

The second the school bell rang, I was out of there. I made sure to do all my work yesterday so I could celebrate an early weekend, practically running out of the school at the first opportunity.

I got changed when I arrived at the apartment and tidied it up a bit more before the doorbell rang. When I answered the door, it showed a giddy Scarlett Johansson who almost seemed as thrilled at me.

We embraced each other tightly before stepping inside and catching up. Since it was close to dinner time, we decided to go out for dinner.

We visited this amazing local restaurant and went for a stroll in the park afterwards. I tried to ignore the cold, but it kept getting harder to do so.

That is until I saw a familiar face walking into our direction. I stopped dead in my tracks, confusing Scarlett. "That is Casey." I mumble under my breath while looking in her direction.

Scarlett follows my gaze, ending up on Casey as well. "The kid you bought drawing supplies for?" She questions curiously.

I simply nod, resulting in Scarlett being Scarlett.

Without a warning, Scarlett began to shout towards the girl. "Casey!" I turn around to punch her arm but Scarlett just shrugs.

Casey looks up confused, hesitantly walking into our direction. I feel a knot in my stomach when I see what she's wearing. Or at least what she isn't.

"Is she not wearing a coat? It's freezing." Scarlett mumbles, saying my thoughts out loud. We both look at each other before we make our way to Casey, meeting her half way.

She smiles genuinely at us, but I can't help but look shocked. Her lips are trembling, she's looking pale and her teeth are chattering. The poor kid is freezing.

Without even thinking twice, I take off my coat and wrap it around her shoulders. I can feel Scarlett looking at me questionably and so does Casey, but I can't just do nothing.

"Hi I'm Scarlett, Lizzie's friend. You're in her class right?" Scarlett asks sweetly. Casey nods slowly in response, still looking confused at me.

I offer her a small smile which she returns before focusing her attention on the woman next to me.

"Are your parents around?" Scarlett asks curiously, resulting in Casey shaking her head.

Scarlett and I look puzzled at each other. "Well do you live far from here?" She asks. Casey shakes her head.

"How about Scarlett and I walk you home?" I question this time, earning a small smile from Scarlett who silently agrees. Casey shakes her head once again.

Scarlett crouches down to Casey her height. "We can't just leave you out here all alone sweetheart," Scarlett says sweetly. Casey slowly nods her head as she continues to walk forward.

Scar and I look at each other as we follow the little girl. It doesn't take long before we reach her house. We rang the bell and knocked on the door, but nobody answered the door.

"Is there anyone home?" Scarlett asks confused in Casey her direction, she simply shrugs before reaching down into her pocket.

She hands me a piece of paper containing the following note:

"Hello sweetheart, I'm off to my weekly bingo night. There's some food in de fridge and I'll leave the key under the doormat. Love, Granny"

I hand it over to Scarlett before crouching down and lifting up the doormat, but there is no key to be seen. She must have forgotten to actually place it down.

Scarlett seems to draw the same conclusion as me, looking between me and the girl.

"Well how about you come home with us? You can stay there until your grandmother comes home. I believe Lizzie can even make you some hot coco." Scarlett says out of the blue.

I look up at her and she looks back at me with wide eyes. I return the gesture, starting a silent discussion.

After a few moments I look at Casey who is looking at the ground. She simply shrugs her shoulders. "That's settled then, you're coming with us." Scarlett smiles before looking into my direction. "Do you have a pencil?"

I shake my head as I look through my purse, not carrying a pencil with me. I watch as Casey takes off the coat and hands it to me. I'm about to open my mouth to tell her she should keep it on, but she simply turns her back to me.

I'm a bit confused until she moves her shoulders up and down, shaking the backpack she is carrying. Of course, the pencil case. I open the backpack and take out the green pencil, handing it to Scarlett who's smiling at us.

She writes something down on the note Casey handed her and throws it through the mailbox. "Alright let's go." She smiles before handing me back the pencil. I make sure it's in its designated spot before closing up the backpack and putting the coat around Casey again.

Scarlett motions for Casey to follow her, but Casey looks up at me with a questionable look on her face. I smile warmly at her, reassuring her that it's okay.

"Trust me, you don't want to say no to Scarlett." I joke making her giggle while Scarlett scoffs. We make our way back to my apartment, Scarlett and I engaging in some small talk while Casey walks between us.

She buried herself completely in my jacket and it's an amusing sight. The coat is way too big on her. I unlock the door when we arrive at the apartment, watching Scarlett try to get Casey inside, but she refuses.

"Okay can I lift you?" Scarlett asks her, but Casey shakes her head. "Well what is that you want sweetheart?" She asks again, earning a shrug from Casey.

I walk up to them, kneeling down in front of the young girl. "Do you want to watch a movie together?" I say carefully, not sure if that's enough to pursade her.

But it seems like it is since her eyes light up. Without any hestitation she walks past me and Scarlett and into the apartment. "You couldn't have chosen a child that talks?" Scarlett laughs teasingly as we make our way inside.

The second I enter the apartment Casey hands me my coat back and looks around her with her shoes in her hands. I point to a drawer where she can put her shoes in and open it for her. She flashes me a short smile before placing them down.

I notice she's shuffling nervously on her feet while I'm untying my shoes. "You can follow Scarlett." I tell her. She looks behind me, in the direction that Scar went, but she stays put. I take off my shoes and smile at her while she follows me inside the apartment.

Scar is already making some coffee for us and some hot chocolate for Casey. I show Casey the living room and the TV. After putting on Netflix I hand her the remote control. She looks confused at me making me chuckle. "There are a lot of movies to choose from." I state as I explain how the remote control works.

She scrolls through a few movies, but when Godzilla shows up I realise she should probably search in the kids section. So I gently take the remote control, setting up a kids account. "You can choose your own profile picture." I smile before handing it back.

She looks extremely focused as she scrolls through the pictures, until she lands on a golden retriever. She just looks up at me with wide eyes and the biggest smile. "Golden Retriever it is." I smile as I finish up setting her account, handing back the remote control once again.

"I'll be in the kitchen with Scarlett to get some snacks." I tell her as I walk towards the kitchen, making sure I can keep an eye on Casey who seems to be amazed at the amount of choice she has.

"You two are cute together." Scarlett states casually as I enter the kitchen. "What is that supposed to mean?" I chuckle as I get out some bowls for the snacks. "Nothing, I just wanted you to know." She smiles at me while handing me some chips and cookies.

We both look up in sync when we hear a loud squeak coming from the living area. Casey looks over her shoulder at us with the biggest smile on her face, holding the remote control up high in triomph.

Guess she found a movie.
