《The Land of Stories: The Adventure Continues》The Mask of an Evil Uncle

Matthew has been walking around for what seemed like hours in the middle of a forest. He was thirsty, hungry and tired. He soon couldn't walk anymore, and sat down next to a tree.
"Oh God, how do people travel here?" Matthew asked. He soon heard a horse off in the distance. He quickly stood up and ran towards the sound. He saw a lonely horse in a pasture. He jumped the fence and slowly walked towards the animal.
"Hey! What are you doing in my pasture?" An old man said walking out of his cottage.
"I'm sorry I just need a ride. Actually I need directions too." Matthew said. "I'm trying to find someone, someone with a mask. I know it's a weird request, but I need to find him. Please, it's important."
"Well, I think you'll find him in the Fairy Kingdom." A young man coming out of the cottage said. "I just heard from our neighbor that the battle in that kingdom has just ended. A man named the Masked Man, was a released from Pinocchio Prison by that army that came to this world. You'll find that man there."
"Great, thank you. Can I borrow your horse?" Matthew asked.
"Sure you can. It's pretty far from here, you'll need him." The young man said.
"What business do you have with a man that has been in prison for 10 years?" The old man said.
"I'm sorry for my grandfather, that is your business." The young man said. "But out of curiosity what is your business with him?"
"No it's fine, I need something from him. Something that will help my family. I'm sorry that's all I can say." Matthew said. "Thank you for your horse. I'll give him back I promise."
"Thank you, and good luck." The young man said. "All you need to do is go down this road and take a left at the troll and goblin territory and you can't miss the castle."
"Thank you! Thank you so much!" Matthew got on the horse and rode off to the Fairy Kingdom. It was a pretty difficult ride for Matthew because he hadn't ridden a horse since he was 8. The moment he first rode a horse came into his mind, and he started to get emotional because it was one of his most treasured moments of his childhood with his mother.
It was a rainy day in Washington DC, and Matthew was in the back of the car with his sisters Elizabeth, and Carrie. It was the beginning of spring break and their parents did not tell them where they were going.

"Mom!" Matthew whined from the back seat. "Where are we going? It's not right to not tell your kids where they're going."
"It's a surprise." Bree said from the passenger seat.
"Probably means it's going to bad." Elizabeth said.
"I like surprises." Carrie said as she played on her tablet.
"I think you'll like this surprise." Conner said as he drove. "It's something you've never done before."
A few hours later they parked in front of a hotel. They unloaded all their luggage and entered their hotel room. Matthew instantly flopped down on the bed and turned on the TV.
"Nope. No TV." Bree said and turned off the TV.
"Mom! We've been in the car for 5 hours. All I want to do is sleep and watch TV." Matthew said.
"Yeah I agree with Matthew." Elizabeth said sitting next to him.
"Uh, that's not what spring break is about." Bree said to her kids. "You know how our spring breaks are. Spring break is a week to try something new and go somewhere new as a family."
"How about you guess what we're going to do." Conner said while holding a sleeping Carrie
"Are we going to swim with dolphins?" Elizabeth asked.
"Nope, we did that last year." Conner said.
"We going to Australia?" Matthew asked.
"Would we be in this hotel room if we were going to Australia?" Bree asked her 8 year old son.
"No." Matthew said still lying on the bed.
"But we'll think about that for next year, because I really want to go there too." Conner said lying Carrie down on the second bed.
"What would you think if I said that we were going to go camping and ride horses." Bree said and smiled.
"Horses!" Carrie said and woke up. "Are we going to ride horses?"
"Yeah, that's what we're going to do." Conner said and put his arm around Bree. "What do you think?"
"I think I'll take the next flight to Australia." Matthew said and sat up.
"Oh come on Matthew. It'll be fun." Bree said. "Plus this is something we didn't do when we were your age. It'll be a good experience."
"Question. If we are going camping, why are we in a hotel room?" Elizabeth asked.
"Because it's raining. You wanna go camping in the rain?" Bree asked her kids. "I checked the weather for the rest of the week, it's supposed to be perfect."

"Wait, we're not staying in a cabin?" Elizabeth said.
"Nope. We are going to sleep in 2 tents. Elizabeth and Matthew, you will be with me and Carrie will be with Dad." Bree said.
"Ok I'll go but I won't like it." Matthew said.
The next day, the weather was fantastic and the Baileys packed up all their things in the car and drove off to the camp grounds. A lot of people were there setting up their tents. Bree and Conner bought the easiest tents to set up (because they had no idea what they were doing). Once they got them set up, they went over to the stables.
"Look mommy, horses." Carrie said running over to the pasture.
"Do I really have to get on one of those?" Matthew said.
"Matthew come on, it might be fun." Elizabeth said to her little brother.
A tall man in a cowboy hat and boots came out of the barn and walked up to the family.
"Hi guys how are you today?"
"We're doing good." Conner said and picked up Carrie.
"Great, you guys ready to ride some horses?" The man asked.
"Yeah!" Elizabeth and Carrie said.
"Sure. I guess." Matthew said. Bree was starting to get really upset with her son, so she discretely gave her son a smack on the back of the head. Matthew looked at his mother with an irritated look and rubbed the back of head.
"Let's go shall we." Conner said and gave a look to his son that instantly told him that he should behave.
They were all given horses. Bree was given a tall white horse, and Elizabeth and Matthew were given brown horses. Conner was given a black horse and Carrie sat in front of him. They all went on a trail ride in the middle of the woods. They loved it, except for one.
"How is this fun?" Matthew said. "Mom I'm tired."
Bree was getting tired of her sons attitude so she thought of an activity he might enjoy.
"Hey Matthew wanna race?" She asked.
"Sure, I guess. I've raced horses in video games how hard can it be?" Matthew said.
"To that tree and back."
"I bet mom beats you." Elizabeth said.
"Hey! I think I'll beat mom." Matthew said.
"I don't know we'll see." Conner said. "Ready, set...go!"
Bree and Matthew took off and were neck and neck.
"I'm going to win!" Matthew said and smiled.
"I don't think so!" Bree said and looked at her son.
They went around the tree and Bree was getting further ahead of Matthew. Bree got to the finish line first and cheered.
"Yes! I won!" Bree said.
"Not fair, your horse is bigger then mine." Matthew said.
"How does it feel that your mother beat you in a race?" Bree said and laughed
"I want to go again." Matthew said.
"Nope, we have to get back and have lunch. Maybe tomorrow." Bree said.
"Yes, and I will beat you." Matthew said and tried not to smile.
"Yeah ok." Bree said and put her arm on her sons shoulder. "The important thing was...was it fun?"
"Yeah, I guess this trip wasn't so bad. Thanks for taking us here mom." Matthew said and smiled at his mom.
"Your welcome Matt." Bree said and smiled at her son.
Matthew got to the Fairy Palace and was in awe at how big and shiny it was, but he didn't have time to admire it. He got off the horse, and ran into the palace. He saw no one around, but he then heard a crash coming from upstairs. He ran up the stairs and stopped in front of a door way. Inside he saw a girl in a blue dress with strawberry blonde hair holding a magic wand. She looked a lot like a younger version of his sister Carrie. Across from her was a man in a mask.
"Take off that ridiculous disguise." The girl said tightening her grip on her magic wand.
"You don't want me to do that." The Masked Man said in a playful tone.
"Now." The girl yelled.
The Masked Man reluctantly pulled off the sack over his head and exposed his face for the first time in over a decade. The girl gasped and dropped her wand. Matthew was surprised at how much the man looked like him and his father. Matthew took that moment to run into the room and tackle the man to the ground. The girl was so surprised that Matthew came in she fell onto her back. Matthew snatched the mask and quickly ran out of the room. The Masked Man ran after him leaving the girl mortified in the room.
Matthew ran down the stairs as fast as he could and out of the palace. He got on the horse and rode off, it was time to head back home before he got into trouble.
