《The Millionaires Pursuit》Chapter 35

Stepping outside of the Bentley, Rosaline clutched the lapels of her jacket and wrapped them closer around her neck. A sudden breeze had whipped around her and Erik, yet despite the cold, nothing could have possibly distracted her from the view she was currently gazing at. A double story contemporary home with modern architectural style and design was fixated in the foreground. In the near distance, Rosaline observed the expansive mountains and layers of icy snow that covered most of the landscape, similar to how a white blanket would be used to cocoon a baby. She allowed herself to be enthralled by the beauty of Mother Nature, judging by the bright smile that Erik noticed had currently appeared on her face.

"How do you like things so far?" He asked her.

"Erik, I have no words. I still can't believe that only a few short hours ago we were safely tucked away into your house and now look where we are." She dreamily spoke, whilst gesturing around their surroundings.

Erik merely smiled at her response and entwined their fingers, as he led the two of them along the snow covered path and towards the front door of the house. Retrieving a key from his pocket that he was issued with when he stepped off the plane, he inserted it into the slot and turned it anticlockwise until he felt a click was released. Instead of opening the door completely, he instead gently manoeuvred Rosaline until she stood directly in front of him so that she could push through the door herself and take the opportunity to sneak a first glance. She hesitated for a brief moment Erik noted, before she slowly widened the gap in the door and stepped inside. Erik heard Rosaline gasp before he even had the chance to cross the threshold. If her reaction was anything to go off, he knew she quite possibly impressed.

"Erik, this is spectacular." She squealed, before running off further into the house.

While Rosaline went exploring, Erik closed the door behind them and set aside their belongings. He made his way straight into the kitchen to check that the refrigerator and cupboards were fully stocked, as per his request. Fortunately, Erik was not disappointed as he regarded the numerous items of foods that were either cooling or neatly stored in the pantry. As Erik and Rosaline had only indulged in a light meal on the plane, he wanted to please her yet again with his culinary skills. Grabbing a few ingredients out of the fridge, Erik set to work on cooking up some eggs with spinach and mushrooms. After he had finished, he plated up his and Rosaline's breakfast before going in search of her in the house. It took him longer than he expected to find her as the house was utterly silent, but when he spotted where she was standing he understood why. With her back turned to him, Erik quietly approached her and wound his arms around her middle. She gratefully welcomed his presence and leaned closely against him. Erik delicately kissed her hair and mutely observed the scenery with her. Just beyond the thick glass panel that resided in front of Erik and Rosaline, was a picturesque display of snow covered mountains that served as the perfect background to the motionless lake that appeared directly outside their window.

"This view is phenomenal." Rosaline whispered after a few minutes of quiet.

"It certainly is." Erik agreed, whilst placing a chaste kiss against her cheek.

"I hope you're hungry, I made us breakfast." He soon added.

"I could probably have a bite or two." She softly accepted, while turning around in his grasp.

"You'll need to eat more than just a few mouthfuls sweetheart, we've got a big day ahead of us." Erik discreetly informed her.

"Would you tell me what you have planned?" Rosaline sweetly asked him with a bashful smile.

"And ruin the surprise? Not a chance Rose. You know how much I enjoy seeing your smile widen as the excitement builds in anticipation." He seductively purred, as he moved his hands across her lower back.

Rosaline characteristically blushed at his playful innuendo, before ducking her head in between his shoulder and neck. Erik chuckled at her youthful innocence and pushed their bodies flush together. It was times like this that Erik wondered how Rosaline was able to so easily resist obvious temptation, when there he was evidently struggling to not behave like a teenage boy and take her there on the wooden floor.

"If only you knew how deep my feelings run for you." Erik daringly admitted, before gently separating their closeness from one another.

Locking eyes with her, Erik was puzzled for a moment as he didn't recognise the look Rosaline had given him. Fortunately for him, her words helped to clarify some of the misunderstanding.

"Trust me Erik, I do." She confidently answered, whilst reclaiming their previous stance and sealing their lips in an arousing kiss.

Rosaline tightened her hold on Erik for a sole minute, without the attachment of their mouths, yet for some reason, as she continued to stare up at him lovingly, Erik was acutely aware that she was keeping something personal from him. Something which Erik hoped she would soon trust him with entirely, so that they could overcome whatever was troubling her together.

"I think our breakfast might be cold now." Erik observed, which caused Rosaline to expel a girly laugh as the two lovers made their way towards the dining room to enjoy some scrumptious food.
