As my eyes begin to open I notice Carter is nowhere to be seen. I let out a sigh and assume that she already left like she has been doing lately. She and I have been hooking up basically three nights a week for the last month, and it usually ends up being at my house, which I don't mind because I hate being alone.

After freshening up in the bathroom I begin to hear something coming from the kitchen. In a moment of panic, I grab my hairbrush, holding it up as if it's a knife and tip-toeing to the kitchen.

"Good mor-...What are you doing with your hairbrush?" Carter laughs, a spatula in her hand.

"God, you scared the shit out of me," I let out a breath, lowering the hairbrush.

"Okay, and how did you plan on using that hairbrush if it wasn't me?"

"I don't know, okay? I panicked," I rolled my eyes, sitting on a stool in front of my island. My eyebrows furrowed as I noticed a stack of pancakes and two glasses of orange juice filled up. "What are you doing?"

"Making breakfast, duh. Oh, I was gonna make bacon but turns out you don't have any," she frowned, turning the stove off and setting a plate of pancakes in front of me.

"Probably because I'm a vegan," I chuckled.

"Oh, sorry."

"Why are you sorry? How the fuck would you know that?" It really is refreshing to be around somebody who knows nothing about you other than what you decide to tell them.

"I guess," she shrugged, grabbing the glasses of orange juice and handing me one of them. "You aren't gonna give me some lecture about how I shouldn't be eating meat, are you?"

"Nah, that comes later," I teased. "But, I do have a question."

"Oh no," she shook her head sarcastically, taking a sip of juice.

"You never fully told me about your music," I stated, hoping to get more out of her than I did over text the other day.

"Oh god," she groaned, "I just did a few shows at some bars and people liked it so I booked a few tiny venues," she shrugged.

"What? Why did you stop?"

"Like I said, too many responsibilities," she shrugged, taking another bite of the pancake.

"So you wrote originals?"

"...No," she widened her eyes with a sly grin, shaking her head.

"Oh my god, you totally did! I need to hear them," I pressed on excitedly.

"NO! Hell to the fucking no," she shook her head dramatically. "You're like an actual real good artist who will hear my songs."

"But I'm a nobody," I stuck out my bottom lips in a pout.

"Do I have to remind you that I have to report to a security guard every damn time I come to your house?"

"That literally means nothing," I slumped my shoulders down.

"Just consume your sustenance before I have to leave," she rolled her eyes with a chuckle.

For a month now I've had a new smile plastered on my lips and the only reason I can think of it being there is Billie. No, we aren't a couple, no we don't even cuddle but I want to cuddle, I want to know her, I want to do more than just hook up in the middle of the night. I haven't felt this way for a long time and quite frankly, it scares me. First of all, I've never been great at relationships, secondly, she's fucking famous and I could never date someone famous, and lastly, I'm a drug dealer who is the legal guardian of a one-year-old. If she knew all of this, she probably wouldn't even be hooking up with me.

"You hungry for lunch?" I asked Hazelee as she was relaxing next to me, playing with a toy. She looked up at me and nodded her head excitedly.

"Okay bubba, I'll make you something," I sighed, slumping off the couch that I've been sitting in for a greater part of the day.

As I was putting a few chicken fingers in the oven there was a knock on the door and I knew it was Dion as I was expecting him to drop off some more supplies today. "Come in," I shouted, closing the oven door.

I looked over at the door, my jaw dropping as I saw who it was. "B-Billie," I stammered.

"Hi," she smiled yet still had a slightly confused look on her face as she noticed Hazelee. "Sorry, I should have called," she muttered, starting to turn around.

"No, wait," I stopped her, pulling her back inside, closing the door behind her. "This is Hazelee, my niece. I'm just babysitting her for a few weeks," I explained, leaving out half the truth.

"Aw," Billie cooed, "she's adorable."

"She really is," I agreed with a smile.

"How many weeks will she be here?" Billie questioned and I began to panic but just then there was another knock on the door, although it didn't stop the panicking.

"Um, give me one second," I muttered, walking over to the door and opening it just a crack. "Hey, can we do this another time?"

"I drove all the way out here. Who are you hiding?" Dion asked, pushing the door completely open. His mouth immediately fell into an 'O' shape and I knew I was fucked.

"DD," Hazelee shouted, running up to him. He leaned down, picking her up and hugging her but his face was still very shocked.

"So, Dion this is Billie. Billie this is my friend Dion," I introduced, trying to calm myself down.

"Nice to meet you," Billie gave a kind smile as Dion did the same.

"Um, Dion, can we go out in the hall for a minute? Billie, I'm so sorry, do you mind uh?" I stammered on, pointing to Hazelee.

"Not at all," she smiled, taking Hazelee from Dion's arms.

"I'll only be a minute," I announced quickly before shoving Dion out the door, following behind him and softly shutting the door.

"Woah, you didn't tell me you were literally fucking BILLIE EILISH," he exclaimed.

"SHHHHH," I shushed him, "Can you just give me the stuff?"

"Yeah," he pulled the backpack off of himself, handing it to me.

"No word of this to anyone. I mean it Dion, not even Rory. If this gets out I could mess up her entire life and career and I-"

"I got it," he interrupted my rambling, "You have my word," he said seriously. After that, I knew he got the point and I trust this man with my entire life as well as Hazelee's.

"Thank you and thank you for dropping this off. I love you," I pulled him into a hug.

"I love you too, but we will talk about this later."

"Okay," I chuckled, opening up the door again and shutting it behind myself.

As I looked around, Billie and Hazelee were nowhere to be seen. I set the bag down quickly calling for Billie.

"In here," she called out.

Shit.

I walked towards Hazelee's room, hearing her giggling. Billie was playing with her on the carpet but when she set eyes on me I could tell she was confused, as well as angry. She immediately stood up storming out of the room and down the hallway.

"Billie wait!" I shouted, quickly following after her.

She stopped in her tracks, turning on the calls of her feet. "Is she yours?"

"No, I swear she's my niece."

"Why does she have a whole ass room in your apartment?"

"I-because-well." I couldn't seem to get the words out. I knew she'd stop speaking to me if I told her the truth.

"Also what was so secretive with that Dion guy? Are you fucking him too?"

"No, I'm not...not that it would matter because we aren't exclusive," I mumbled the last part under my breath. She simply rolled her eyes, walking straight out of my apartment.

This has happened way too many times and I was really hoping it would be different with her.
