(Here is chapter thirty six. This chapter should start piecing the story's end conclusion together, it isn't too clear yet but it will be soon :). It was long, and took awhile- but now that we are almost done, I can finally start to properly format my next idea haha. Sorry for any errors, longer chapters could mean more mistakes. Anyway, enjoy!~)

---(Y/n)'s Pov---

"Sans. We need to get up. Papyrus still hasn't returned, and you've been holding on to me like that for hours." I managed to say. My back was pressed against his ribcage, he was acting childish and only peered over my shoulder in a half lidded stare. "Sans-"

"If you don't stop movin', I'll take ya for another round." He threatened which caused me to give him a look of minor irritation. I stopped trying to struggle away from him, which in turn caused the skeleton to snuggle into my body further. "You're so difficult..."

"Perhaps... but you do enjoy it." I replied. Sans didn't offer me a response, he only sighed in content from the warmth that he was able to feel.

"So soft..." He muttered against my skin, trailing kisses at my shoulder until he managed to reach my mark. My body was littered in cuts, bites and even a few bruises... Sans was proven to be more than aggressive in the bedroom.

After a few seconds, Sans ran his tongue against the mark... and then let out a low purr from my lack of disobedience. Once I felt one of his hands outlining some of the cuts that he left on my back, I turned to face him with a shiver. "Sans. If we do not deal with the current threat, then we might encounter more trouble than it's worth."

"Heh... and who is the real threat right now, cupcake? Them... or me?" Well, that is a valid question. However, a question like that would always have a good answer.

"Depends, are you planning on trying to kill me anytime soon?" I suddenly asked. He raised an eyebrow at the simple inquiry, and when he didn't respond... I concluded my statement. "Exactly. You're not a threat to me- currently. But they are."

Sans let out a loud snarl before his hands pulled me tighter into him. His hostile nature made me realize that I may of pointed out something that easily put him on edge. But regardless, it did get him relatively worked up and maybe even a bit less lazy. "I'll deal with it."

He suddenly decided. I looked up at him, his eye was flaring a dangerous color of red as he glared towards the door in heavy concentration. Sans' bones rattled with fury, I didn't know if I'd ever seen him so angry before... If we were not bonded to one another, I'd probably feel the need to defend myself. "And while I am- You're gonna stay here."

Several clicking sounds echoed through the house as he moved to get up. In an instant, Sans was grabbing his clothes from the floor to put them on. He didn't apply his white shirt since he was probably trying to do as little as possible, and instead got his hoodie on while throwing the hood over his head. "Wait-"

But it was too late, the skeleton had vanished with an axe in hand and left me in his home. Every door and window was locked, no longer giving me any kind of access. With an irritated sigh, I trailed my fingers through my hair until I eventually felt a familiar metal object. It was my hair pin.

Bringing the object up in front of my face so that I could insure that it wasn't bent, I soon got to work. I felt somewhat off balance to stand on my two feet since my body was basically abused by him. When I felt confidant in my own strength, I lowered myself towards the keyhole on the door and started picking the lock. Once the door clicked open, I turned around towards my clothes, picking at the vast array of fabrics.

Once I got my tank top and jeans on, I slipped my long coat on. Crossing my arms, I started to try and think of a course of action. Papyrus was still out there, potentially caught up with some kind of threat... and Sans might get himself into some kind of awful situation that he just didn't have the stamina for. Of course, his animal instincts to protect will probably kick in... but still.

Drawing a heavy breath, I quickly caught Sans' scent. Now normally, I would just brush it off because he would frequently be lurking behind me- but this time he wasn't. It was then that I realized that the smell was coming from me... not that it irritated me or anything. Though I could probably use a shower or something.

Upon deciding that there was no time to bathe, I instead rushed to unlock the outside door. Despite the clicking sound being heard, it wouldn't open... probably due to the town being snowed in? Hah... I love this town's sense of humor.

Knowing that my route was not going to be affected, I instead settled for opening a window. As I managed to slip out, I noted that my hair pin was finally starting to become somewhat bent. If I had to pick another lock, it would probably break.

When my boots made contact with the fresh layer of snow, I let out a small huff... but I wasn't expecting to feel a sudden jolt of pain in my chest. Carefully, I summoned my Soul in search of some kind of injury. However, when I didn't see anything, I instead speculated something entirely different.

This was my bond with Sans. I don't think that he got hurt, but it did seem as though he felt a strong emotion. A feeling that stressed out his Soul so much, that it could be felt through my own. Shaking off my unease, I started to move towards the ruins.

A powerful gust of wind made the back of my coat flutter briefly, only to slowly die down in eerie silence. Immediately, I started to reach into my pockets to pull out my black gloves, and upon slipping them on, I brought my hands towards my lips to puff out a breath of warm air. It was very cold today, no wonder Sans was so desperate to hold onto me.

Following a familiar icy path, I made sure to avoid patches of blue snow... and upon coming across a red coating of blood... I decided to change my direction entirely. I knew that it didn't belong to any kind of Monster, because judging by the color and amount, it was Human. The game was afoot, and I was pretty sure that Sans was winning.

Knowing that the skeleton probably wouldn't take notice of my presence since he was in a hunting mode, I calmly started to follow the trail of blood into the dense woods. I made sure to avoid all of the traps that laid in my path, which was especially simple since I practically drew a map of them in the back of my head. Papyrus made sure to show them all to me, worried that I would get hurt if I were to one day venture off alone.

In all honesty, Papyrus was always looking out for my wellbeing. Sometimes, he would seem fairly unstable... twitching frequently while in search for something to sate his hunger. But despite his unsated desire for Human flesh, he always put himself second. I could remember sneaking him some of my sweets... he made very unusual faces at some of the candy that I gave him. One day, he looked so absurd that I actually found myself chuckling!

Straight after I produced the slightest laugh, he demanded that I give him a second piece. It was hilarious of him. Another day during my weeks here, I had refused to eat for almost three days. Sleep wasn't coming to me either.... so what did that tall skeleton do?

He reached both of his arms over to where I was sitting... I had a diagram that I was trying to read... of course I was also half awake. And right then, he picked me up as if he were handling a child and brought me to his room. At first, the expression that he was wearing with his sunken eye sockets caught me off guard... but once he lowered me into his racecar bed, Papyrus jumped in right next to me and declared that we were having a slumber party.

As entertaining as his claim was, he looked very nostalgic for a brief moment...

Sans wasn't home then, he was apparently out looking for food. Although he wouldn't say anything, I knew that Sans was looking for something editable that I would eat.

Following the moment with Papyrus, I decided to tell him a bedtime story from memory. When I started it off, he claimed to remember the tale that I told of Fluffy Bunny. Paps seemed surprised, but in all honesty, Gaster told me it so many times. It wasn't his preferred thing to tell me before bed, but it helped me to calm down and return to sleep just after a nightmare.

After about four hours of Papyrus sleeping soundly next to me, Sans came into the room with his single crimson eye glowing. With the darkness casting a heavy shadow over him, he looked so furious... but upon seeing me half awake, Sans strolled over to me and made a move to pick me up out of the bed- only for me to instead grab his wrist to pull him in.

So we slept, all three of us together that night... I felt like I had a family for the first time. Others who cared so much for me.

And now?

My knees fell out from under me. I fell towards the snow and could see a figure with a bloodied hatchet in the distance. Sans had the weapon raised over his head, continuously bringing it down upon an already dead Human. He must of been doing it for awhile since the landscape was decorated in blood... even a vast amount of organs and limbs were separated from the body.

But none of it could match the sight of a red scarf and a pile of dust in front of me.

Shakily, my hand reached out to grab the crimson fabric... I couldn't believe that he was gone. And Sans who clearly had lost his sense of self continued to attack a lifeless corpse. For a moment, my heart stopped as my fingers trailed against the tattered fabric.

It was an instance where I felt absolutely nothing, only for the emotions to come back so rapidly that I felt like my heart was shattering apart. Only then did Sans finally turn around with his clothes heavily bloodied, and eyes filled with insanity. It took a few seconds for his single crimson eye to shrink in horror at the sight of something that truly terrified him for the first time.

He couldn't believe it- because never had he thought that he'd see me cry, or at least cry consciously. I was a sobbing mess, unaware of how to deal with all of the feelings that came crashing down. I was never taught to deal with this amount of stress, I never had anyone else to lose-

Not after my parents died at too young of an age for me to completely grasp how painful it was. Knowing that Sans never snapped out of his animalistic state didn't really bother me at this very moment. Surprisingly, he didn't yell at me for sneaking out or anything... instead, he teleported the short distance to appear directly in front of me.

First, he pulled out my Soul to thoroughly examine it. Next, Sans started to sniff around my body in search of some kind of wound... and then finally, he reached his arms around my back to firmly pull me into his chest. Sans' legs were at either side of my body as he held me close, releasing a low warning growl to anything that would dare to approach us. His hoodie was opened up, leaving room for him to push me inside so that he could instinctively hide me from the world.

Once he managed to calm down, I started to speak. My fingers were wrapped around his ribcage as he creepily kept himself sitting up in a defensive position. I was aware that he was finally back in control, but that he wouldn't allow anyone to approach me while in such a weak state. "I told ya to stay back home."

I couldn't find the words to speak, so instead I looked up to stare at his stoic face. He maintained that stare off into the distance, very alert to his surroundings. After finally finding some kind of strength, I responded to him truthfully. "I was worried... that I'd once again lose someone so important to me."

His bones became stiff as he looked down at me slightly. When I left the house, I did so in the fear of losing the ones that I could call family. "But... I was too late."

"This... is not your fault, cupcake." He said with his baritone voice. His eye landed upon Papyrus' remains before he let out a low growl. "This was their doin'."

Struggling to find the words for the next thing that I wanted to say, Sans looked down with patience. I was surprised to see him waiting for me to say something, he knew that I had something on my mind and almost looked as though he'd wait forever to hear it.

Cautiously, I focused my stare on his ribcage since I couldn't meet his eyes. I had to ask him, because it felt important to do so. "Sans... have you ever..."

"Hm?" He added to my delayed words. I shifted nervously, trapped within his embrace with no possible escape. He made sure to keep me close so that I wouldn't back out of my inquiry.

"Have you ever.... broken a promise before?"

"Depends. What kind of promise?" Sans replied while arching a non-existent brow at me. Again I shifted nervously, only for him to place a hand on my cheek so that he could try to comfort me with his calm expression.

"A promise... to not take a life. To not hurt anyone." I mumbled out. Sans' crimson eye narrowed into a half lidded stare. He didn't dare to look away from me, but in turn, prevented me from breaking eye contact.

"You've kinda already broken that promise, cupcake." He stated with a serious tone. Blinking in confusion, he could probably sense my next question because he took no time in answering it. "Because you hurt yourself all the time. You don't care about what happens to you, causing me to have ta keep an eye socket on ya. Paps knew it too, he didn't spend a lot of time away from your side whenever you were at home."

I was going to retort against his words, but he once again stopped me by speaking. "And this attitude of yours. Ya treat yourself like some kind of emotionless tool. Ya do realize that so many of us see you as a hero? An angel that came down from the surface to save us?"

He chuckled when I didn't have anything to say. So instead, Sans decided to answer my question. "The memories with Frisk are pretty faded- but yep. I have broken a promise like that too many times than it's worth rememberin'."

"Why did you break it...?" I asked softly, my crying finally coming to a stop. He smiled at the sight of me calming down, content with the knowledge that he could make me feel relaxed like this. The fluff from his hood could be felt against my cheeks, soft and comforting.

"Because one day, I lost too much to Frisk. I couldn't afford not to care anymore."

Thinking about his words carefully, he finally released his hold from my face to allow me to look around. Since I wasn't crying anymore, Sans seemed to considerably calm down. If I refused to, he wouldn't of moved in the slightest. Not even if I wanted to get up- he'd still probably keep me pressed up against him.

Once he helped me up, I looked towards the corpse that he mercilessly slaughtered. One of the Humans were dead, leaving six more to deal with.

Sans started to walk over towards his axe, it was perfectly stuck in the snow next to his victim. Upon seeing me look so broken, he probably dropped it just before his teleport. Was it wrong for me to find his desire to discard his weapon without any hesitation, just to reach me in fear of what I was feeling to be seen as a loving gesture?

Shaking my head, I approached the body that Sans completely dismembered. He was going to stop me from getting any closer to his work, in case I was still somewhat unstable from Papyrus' death... but I didn't break again. Instead, I lowered myself and started to navigate through pockets of the clothing that weren't destroyed.

Soon enough, I found what I was looking for and immediately pulled it away from the body. It was their communication device so that they could contact each other. "Ya know, my deer. One broken promise tends to happen once or twice to just 'bout anyone."

Turning around to face him, he seemed to smirk sadistically. "But fortunately for you, we can easily bend a promise over breaking it."

Sans started to tap the handle of his weapon against his collar bone, producing that eerie sound that was perfectly in sync with the next note at all times. Without hesitation, he wrapped his unoccupied arm around my waist and dragged me into his ribcage. "So then, how 'bout it?"

I couldn't even speak right now, my face was a deep red to show that I was actually flustered. Just before Sans could question me about my intense blushing, I explained myself. "You didn't use a pet name that had to do with food!"

"Sure, but did ya consider the spelling?"

Annnnnnnnd..... it was ruined.
