(Well, I am sorry that this chapter is a little bit later than anticipated aha. We only have about ten chapters left including this one, as I want to peak forty in total. It is a lot to read, but all the same is something fun to do. I am putting together all of my next ideas for the newest Sans x Reader now too. It is important for me to make a layout so everything appears as smooth as possible for my lovely readers- Anyway, I hope that everyone enjoys!~)

---(Y/n)'s Pov---

Low whispering could be heard, it was faint but I chose to ignore it since I was being heavily influenced by my dream. Sans could probably make out my unease, but I just wasn't able to stir awake. This is how I became an insomniac.

A skeletal figure appeared before me, shrouding me into its endless veil of shadows. From beyond the closet that I hid in, I could still make out the pained screams of my mother fighting for her life. My father was already long dead, and the footsteps of the intruders could be heard pacing.

"Don't speak..." The voice of Gaster mumbled out calmly. He was taking this situation better than any average individual should. Despite my young age, I was able to understand his language. He always made sure to teach me while growing up since my parents were always so busy. I knew things that someone as small as myself shouldn't of.

Shivering at the sound of a gun being fired, I didn't really scream. This memory came to me frequently, only for me to eventually recall that it wasn't real. That I am okay right now.

After a few moments, the scene switched to something else that I knew all too well. Gaster was standing next to a window, staring up at Mount Ebott while I worked on the Prototype that he was instructing me to build. I was able to ask him many questions during his brief moment of nostalgia. "I've known you since I was born. That expression you're wearing... that's the expression of someone who is worried."

"My young assistant, your perception never ceases to amaze me." He hummed in conformation. Not wanting to push our little talk any further, I remained quiet so that he could speak if he wanted to. "You know, I actually only managed to come in contact with you during the age of one. You were such a small thing- so innocent."

"Innocence is something that we're born with. We just happen to lose it as our life progresses." I said with a small nod. He didn't turn away from the mountain, not caring to even look at my work to see if it was correct. He trusted my skills. "Does your lack of existence bother you?"

There was no response. He only sighed as rain started to fall from the sky, pelting against the roof of the hideout. I wasn't going to push the topic any further, nor did I really care to. We're only partners- not friends... "(Y/n)."

I froze. He never calls me by my name... or at least, that is what I assumed. "Please. Give them a second chance. They deserve that much."

A second... chance?

Hmm?

Finally, my eyes snapped open to reveal their (E/c) color. I could feel something damp sliding down the sides of my cheeks while Sans stared at me with a look of concern. Taking in my surroundings, I realized that I was back on his bed... "Is something wrong? You seem stressed?"

"Stressed? ? You were fucking crying! Of course I'm gonna be freakin' out!" He shouted. His eye sockets were as empty as the void, they made him appear so serious. He didn't have that calm exterior that he usually wore, I mean the one that would amplify his sinister self. Bringing my hand up to test his theory, I did in fact feel tears. I was crying.

"Oh." I whispered. Bringing my arm up to wipe away the tears, he just stared at me blankly. Soon, Sans' fingers moved to the interior of his eye socket, scratching at the rim of it. "I'm alright."

"Are you in pain?" He suddenly asked. His hand moved towards my injured foot, gripping it without warning. Wincing from the contact, he was quick to release his hold. "Eh. I know ya are. But that ain't the reason for this."

"Just a slight nightmare, nothing to concern yourself with." Once I said that, Sans looked at me suspiciously. Looking around a bit more, I noticed that he had a blanket draped over my body... and that he was sitting cross legged in front of me, leaning forward with a curious edge.

"No harm in tellin' me about it, cupcake." he urged with a small huff. I knew that he was trying to play off being terrified. Because I knew for a fact that when I woke up- that Sans was scared. And I mean... he's never seen me crying before, so why wouldn't he be freaked out? He probably thought that I was dying or something...

However- he did have a point. Naturally, I wouldn't share everything with Sans. But he probably did deserve an explanation. "It was simply a memory from my childhood, one that I was forced to relieve through constant nightmares."

Sighing, I noticed that he was waiting for me to elaborate further. Sans was also quick to drag me into his lap, as if sensing that I could use the comfort. Or maybe he disliked our distance. "I keep on seeing myself hiding in a closet, waiting for the attack to be over. I was only six at the time, Sans. Surprisingly, I survived..."

Shaking my head at the thought, he appeared to be taken by my words. "Aliza's father was leading a group into my house, prepared to threaten my family who failed to pay their fees to them. They requested more time, but they were instead made into an example. Of course, I chose to do the most illogical thing that a six year old child could do. Instead of bawling my eyes out in the comfort of an orphanage, I instead plotted my revenge. Carried it out fairly easily as well."

"Heh... you're strong, cupcake. If I were there though, I would of tore them apart. Because judging by that expression, they really hurt you."

"Yes. They did hurt me." I affirmed while shifting my position slightly. Sans moved to nuzzle his skull into the crook of my neck, taking in a sharp inhale of my scent. "However, if such suffering led me here... then I suppose that it was worth it."

I couldn't believe my own words. Even Sans eased his grip due to being in shock. I never really expressed any kind of emotion... but even the slightest amount of gratitude for being here, in this hell, was unexpected. Admittedly, I've done horrible things, took revenge on everyone... If I had a second chance, maybe I would be able to see the stars without the threat of the Government at my back. But for now, I found both safety here, and someone who cares about me.

And because I couldn't really escape from Sans' claim, I would need to submit a bit to find profit in this relationship. Not that I cared too much... what did I have to lose?

"Sans. Despite my injury and your possessive nature, I know that I need to finish fixing the Core. At first I treated this as a job- but now, It feels like an obligation." I slowly explained. Sans firmly wrapped his arms around my torso, as if he were scared that I'd run at my first given chance. "You must understand Sans, I have nowhere to go. On the surface, I would be hunted, tortured and probably executed. I have no family to turn to, nor friends. But... I have you."

Despite not wanting to fall for the skeleton, or even rely on him... I did find myself in need of his attention. We had mutual respect for each other's power. And even though my feelings were different from his, not as obsessive, I think that I would choose to be with him. Like Gaster told me... What you perceive as dangerous and trustworthy is entirely up to you.

If I were to evaluate the situation logically, I'd probably have to sum it up like this: Sans hasn't tried to kill me in awhile. He has actually tried to protect me from others throughout my time here. His obsessive behavior led him to mark me, which will generally prevent him from turning against me. Even though he had the opportunity to kill me, he has treated my wounds. Not to mention the fact that when he had my prototype, he didn't make me do anything... indecent.

End result? I trust Sans. "Heh... yeah, you have me."

Maybe he bit me, and made me strip off my clothing... but I knew that he didn't have bad intentions. His intent though, was very personal and selfish. However, I will not forget that he did it out of love. Even if it was obsessive.

Sans pushed me into his ribcage before grabbing my arms to guide them around his neck. He had the desire to be close and affectionate, which was shown through his now vibrating bones. He was purring again. "You know, with that absurd nickname that you gave me... I might as well start calling you kitten."

"Don't you fucking dare." He snapped back. I let out a small chuckle at his response, he seemed agitated but I knew that he was actually humored.

"Hmm... tell you what, Sansy." The skeleton dug his phalanges into my back while letting a low growl reach my ears. I didn't make any uncomfortable movements at the gesture, but instead... I responded by pressing myself further into his bones. My fingers ghosted over his spine, causing him to unwillingly shiver from the contact. "We'll make a promise. Does that sound good? I will never break mine, and I doubt that you'll break yours."

"Go on." He hummed. Closing my eyes slightly so that they were half lidded, I couldn't help but find this moment pleasant. His affection wasn't gentle, but neither was it too aggressive. Sans was still careful, but wouldn't play nice.

"If you allow me to get back to work so that I can finish the repairs... then I will promise to always be on your side. I will never betray you. But in return for such a deep promise, I feel that you must do the same."

"Ha. Nah, I have a different promise for ya, cupcake." He began with a grin. Sans soon lowered his back against his bed, holding me on top of him. I guess that he wanted to go back to sleep... though I wasn't very tired. "You can promise me that, I'll be content with it. But I'm gonna make a promise to you, and you will have no choice but to acknowledge and accept it. 'Kay?"

Slowly I nodded. I have to trust him... and to do that, I needed him to trust me. "Alright. I will promise to keep ya safe, and that you will always be mine in every way. No matter what, you are my mate. My responsibility."

"Fine."

"Don't say no like that, (Y/n). I won't accept any less- Wait..." He paused, staring at me blankly with his single crimson eye wide from surprise. Tilting my head curiously, Sans gave me an odd look while scratching at the crack in his skull. "You actually said yes?"

"Of course." Once I nodded, Sans didn't respond. I suppose that he didn't have an actual response for what I just agreed to.

"You realize that I will eventually Soul Bind us on that promise, right?"

Again I nodded, he seemed baffled by my lack of complaint. When I thought that Papyrus was going to be my greatest ally here in the Underground... I knew that I was wrong. Gaster knew that too, and set me up with two ketchup bottles. That was his way of giving me a hint, to tell me about both the greatest threat and most important friend. "And that you will be stuck with me forever?"

"Indeed. I am fine with that. Besides, you've given me every reason to have faith in your intentions. I just want you to believe in mine."

And just like that... for a large price, I finally got through to him. I would be able to finish my task, and he would be able to fall into his desires.

Though nothing could ever prepare me for our now bonded fate.
