---(Y/n)'s Pov---

A faint noise could be heard through my tired state of mind. I felt very disoriented and somewhat off-balance as I struggled to open my (E/c) eyes. Once I started to wake up a bit more, a small rattling sound that could be compared to a purring cat was heard. Huh... was it one of the Amalgamates?

Once feeling returned to my arms, I felt the smooth yet firm sensation of bones holding my hand. A thumb was stroking at the (S/c) skin of my palm, almost acting out of curiosity.

If I wasn't uncomfortable from whatever I was sitting on, then I'd probably just go back to sleep. When was the last time that I felt this peaceful? Did I ever feel like this? Once my mind managed to snap into the reality of my situation, I was quick to say one thing.

"Sans."

And just like that, all movement stopped. His hot breath was no longer felt at the tip of my nose, instead he choked it back and stared at me as if he were frozen in place. This was um... a very unusual situation. And to be perfectly honest, I still haven't collected myself enough to deal with it. "What are you doing."

My words may of been placed like a question, but they were obviously a statement. When he didn't respond, I opened a single (E/c) eye to stare at him. Getting a better grasp of the situation upon seeing it first hand, I noticed a few things.

First, he had my hand in his own and was using his phalanges to previously stroke my palm. Okay... next, he was way too close to my face. And finally, I was straddling him...

Wait. I was straddling him.

...........

What was I even doing here?

When I moved to climb off of him, I immediately fell to the floor since my body was still asleep. What even happened to me? Like seriously...

That skeleton didn't make any moves to help me up once I fell out of his bed. Instead, he just watched me with a sense of interest, obviously wondering what I'd do next. "What happened?"

Taking that as his queue to do anything else other than stare at me, he was quick to swing his legs over the side of his bed before lashing out a single hand to roughly grab my arm. Then, I was pulled back onto the comfort of his mattress. "Papyrus said that ya passed out."

I passed out? Has that ever happened to me before? "I seriously doubt it."

"Oh really? Then when was the last time that ya got any sleep?" He growled out. This attitude was much more different than his previous one where he was holding me and putting out some kind of vibration through his bones that was similar to a purring cat.

Actually... I enjoyed the sound. It reminded me of a content kitten.

Getting rid of that thought, I tried to think about his question. When was the last time that I slept? Time to start counting since I couldn't leave with my legs still not cooperating. "I slept for two hours the last time that I was here."

"So ya didn't sleep for the whole two weeks that you were gone for?" By now, he seemed baffled. To be honest, I knew that I got a few naps in? But I really couldn't recall them.

"I had a few naps I think in between that amount of time..." I was really trying to think back on it before sighing with irritation. My headache was enough to make me collapse, but honestly? I wanted to get out of here as soon as possible. Sans' close proximity while I was unconscious seemed very unsettling.

I would never allow anyone to stay that close to me, especially while I was vulnerable. Usually, Gaster would warn me of any approaching threats during my younger years, but eventually I grew into my Soul trait of perception and could just simply sense an issue. "What were you doing while I was unconscious."

Really, I couldn't expect Sans to show any kind of respect while I was unresponsive. If anything, I should of probably respected the fact that he didn't just kill me in my sleep since he had the opportunity to do so. Regardless... that didn't change the fact that I felt very on edge. "Hm? I was only curious. Never seen you so relaxed before."

"Well, I hope that you enjoyed the sight." I stated. He soon propped himself up against his elbow while lazily shooting me a nonchalant look.

"I did." His words were monotone... and they really put me off guard. Why did it feel like he had an entirely different personality? Was I really asleep for that long?

"Excellent. Because that will likely be the last one that you will ever get." Once I said this, he only smirked... but it wasn't a creepy grin or anything, it was just impassive. Sans' stare was half lidded, and much like his smile... unreadable.

God I hated that about him. I often couldn't determine any of his upcoming actions because he was too unpredictable for me. For all I know, he could be considering the idea of murdering me right now... well, he better make it quick. Because my body was finally managing to wake up. "Where is your brother?"

He gave me a small hum before glancing towards his door. It was firmly closed and probably locked. "He's gone. Left me to look after ya. Why?"

Why would I be worrying about where Papyrus was? Thinking back on how I reacted to just about everything, should I really even care? Actually, there was something small that I did feel necessary. "I should probably thank him."

The words didn't fell like my own, and yet I still said them. Of course my face was fairly expressionless, and my words were nothing more than empty... but still, they made Sans give me that look of interest. "And then I should probably get back to work."

"Speaking of which." The skeleton said playfully as his red eye flared to reveal the use of his magic. From across the room, an object floated from his dresser and soon landed in the palm of his hand. It was... my prototype.

Damnit. Sans finally decided to check my inventory. Just when I thought that I had him figured out, he changed his way of doing things. Since he knew that I was obviously frozen with newfound anxiety, he chuckled darkly. "That's what I thought. This is what ya will be using for the Core?"

He threw it up in the air several times, only to catch it like a ball. I couldn't believe it- he was teasing me. "See... I got Paps to tell me about it while you were out. Then, he told me right after to keep it a secret. Course ya didn't tell him much. Butttt, I could piece it together."

"Sans... that device is very delicate." When I whispered that, he simply smirked before shrugging his shoulders mockingly.

"Then I guess that I'd better hold onto it for awhile, right?" I couldn't believe this. Was he... blackmailing me?

"Sans, I don't have time to play these games with you. I need to-"

"Heh. Do you not fucking see that I'm holding all of the cards right now?" His shift in attitude as he slid the object into his pocket made me feel suddenly alert. Sans leaned into me slightly, pushing my back against the bed as his hands caged me below him.

We glared at each other for awhile, but I refused to submit to him. "So here's how this thing is gonna work. I'll eventually give this back to ya- but as long as its in my pocket, you're gonna stay here where I can see ya."

"Why." That was the only thing that I could say as he leaned down closer to me. With my legs finally working again, I was tempted to bring my knee up to crack his ribcage- but I couldn't. I knew that he was serious about his indirect threat.

"Well, Paps doesn't really want to see ya leave." He mumbled, but I could tell that he said something else right after that... I didn't catch it. But I knew for a fact that his brother wasn't the reason for this. Sans, although unpredictable, wanted something. And surprisingly, it doesn't seem to be my death. "Maybe I just wanna keep ya around for a bit. Somethin' wrong with that?"

At this point, I knew that I shouldn't overstep my boundaries. Sans was dangerous, and I couldn't tell what he wanted from me or even how to approach him. All I knew was that he'd be holding onto my prototype until he was finished with whatever this damn game of his was.

---Sans' Pov---

Well, this surprisingly worked well. Checking her inventory for something that I could use against her was a good idea after all. I didn't think that I'd be able to get her to stay this quiet, or even obedient for that matter... but hey? What works, works.

Grinning at her position below me, I couldn't help but feel my Soul pick up in pace. It was beating frantically, as if begging for me to do something more than just stare at her. This is how it should be, her below me. Not fighting for a dominant position.

At least now with this device in my possession, I could observe her in a whole different way. That reminds me...

Reaching into my other pocket, I felt a small bottle between my phalanges before pulling it out to give it a small shake. "By the way. What are these?"

She gave me a weird look as if to say 'you went through my bag too?'

Well yeah, I had to go through everything. "It is a type of magic stabilizer medication. In case any Monsters were to be suffering from the uneven energy of the Core."

"Where did you get them?" I could tell that she was giving me a conflicted look, as if she didn't know what to say. So instead, the only thing that she did respond with was...

"The Lab."

Huh. I was pretty sure that she was lying... but still, this seemed useful for some reason. "Care to elaborate who they're for?"

(Y/n) paused for a moment, trying to consider her next words carefully. I guess that she really started to give into me a bit, not wanting to really deal with any of my devious actions. "Flowey mentioned someone named Grillby. They wont repair his deformed flames, but they will relieve his pain."

"Oh..." My hand slipped the pills back into my pocket before I finally decided to get off of her. I didn't want to, but she was starting to look annoyed. With all of this sleep that I've been getting, I was able to think more clearly...

She was gone for two weeks and I knew that I missed her. Having her unconscious, looking so vulnerable made me feel pretty aggressive to even Paps a few hours ago... which caused him to storm out. What was happening to me?

I knew that I wasn't exactly in my right state of mind, so her coming into my life while my Soul was considering her to be a potential Mate was rough. I didn't want to hurt her... well, not much. Heh.

Maybe I was acting a little too overprotective. Especially since me grabbing her device was actually a decision made with the sole desire to have her closer at all times. With this object close on hand, I could keep her by my side for awhile... in fact, I might be able to get her to sleep next to me in my bed every night.

I really missed being able to sleep.
