Nala and I had decided to skip out of the dinner with Jade and the crew. We went straight to her house after she begged me to stay and keep telling her about what I was and what she was to become.

"So, after you are fully mated with your real mate you are tied for life?" She asked me softly. I nodded. "Can you explain more please?"

I smiled. We were on her bed and she was in her pyjamas and curled up in my arms.

"So, a werewolf doesn't age after reaching their twenty-fifth birthday. Therefore, I have officially stopped ageing as of 5 months ago. And if we were to become fully mated right now, you would stop ageing too," Instantly her cheeks flushed and she hid her face. I ignored her so I would get to see it flush deeper. "And you would become a wolf too." She smiled at the thought.

"But tied to for life?" she asked. "Yeah, it is a bit dramatic I know, but once you are fully mated, living without the other seems to be hell on earth. For example, I've only just met you and living without you is not an option." I said as she smiled.

I curled my arm around her torso and pulled her up towards me but she let out a cry and pulled away.

"Pancake? What's wrong?" I asked as she cradled her ribs in her hands and tears began to fall. "Nothing, I'm fine. Just, I fell over this morning." She tried to explain, but I growled I knew she was lying because of the way she was chewing on the inside of her cheek.

I ripped up her pyjama shirt to reveal the hand size bruise on her ribs. I let out a snarl when I realised, he must have done it. "I will fucking kill him." I whispered. Nala squirmed and I could see the fear in her eyes. I thought for some time before deciding that I needed to take control.

"I'm getting you out of here Nala. If he comes here tonight you break up with him or you do it tomorrow." I said, hating that I was giving her an order.

I noticed the anger than the confusion on her face as she realised, I was bossing her around.

"So, you become my mate, and instantly you think you can boss me around and tell me what to do?" she yelled. "No wa..." But I cut her off. "No Nala! You are my mate! It is my responsibility to keep you safe! To make sure that my pack has a Luna. And then it's more than that! It's the fact that I don't want to see you get hurt. I don't want to see you unsafe and hurting." I yelled right back bringing her lips to mine.

At first, she didn't move but after not much persuading at all she was kissing me back then taking charge. Suddenly the smell of alcohol and smoke wafted through the air. "He's home." I said quietly against her lips. Just then, a knock on the door broke the silence. "Break up with him and you will always be safe with me. I won't leave you and I won't make you wait. And every day I'll try to make you the happiest woman alive." She looked uneasy as she bit her lip before pushed me to the window.

"You have your own key. Use it." She yelled as I jumped on the lawn and crouched down by the window, careful not to make a noise when I knew he could smell me.

"Who the f**k were you here with? Huh?" he yelled at her. "Jade and her new boyfriend just left, Callen." Nala replied in a bored tone. I heard a draw slam shut and a zipper.

'She must be packing.' My wolf told me. I smiled. She was gonna be mine.
