《Hades Doctor》I am Jealous

"Take me back." I bit down on every word, but amber eyes only stared, and within its beauty the blue of winter frost melted in the pools of gold.

"I want to go home." But in truth I could be anywhere but beside this god, anywhere where I could rest and breath and maybe untangle the mess of difficult emotions.

"No." The embers of his eyes ignited unrelenting and adamant and the blue flecks in gold were nowhere in sight. "Tell me, why are you crying?"

"Its nothing."

"Is it Apollo, has he done anything to make you cautious?" The frigidness to his expression became more prominent, the muscles of his jaws taut with gritted teeth.

But with each question the more demanding I became. "No, I really just want to go back to my home."

I withdrew from his touch and folded my hands as I looked away. "I am alright now. There is no reason to keep me here, so take me back." And only I knew that the stubbornness behind the tantrum, the refusal to give a clear answer, were all from a desperate need to be comforted.

And unaware of my misgivings he looked at me for a long while and then said. "If that's what you wish."

A dark ring appeared over us, hovering for a second before it fell transporting us through space and time. And as it did my lashes were lowered and I could not see the unfathomable flashes of rage in amber orbs.

But when my eyes open, my heart dropped. "This is not my home." The extravagant architecture I was quite familiar focused in my vision. "Hades this is not where I want to be." And a part of me rebuked my half-heartedness when I followed his figure as he walked away deaf to my complaints.

"Hades?" He did not turn back neither did he reply and when I my outstretched hand almost grazed his back a wall erupted from the floor forcing me to step away.

"Hades..." My voice trailed and I did not attempt to push against the wall that now seperated us and only stood there blank and helpless.

And wondering of what exactly to make of the situation almost left me laughing.

Was I now a prisoner?

But why?

And having nothing to do but wait I push open the mist covered windows and was suddenly assaulted by the chilly winds. But when I peak down, my hands rubbing against each other stilled and on reflex held onto the window frame in fear.

"How high is this?" My mind began to picture the fall that would take a minute to let me greet death even though I did not consciously want to.

What a pity it was that my hair was short and not long enough to climb down.

"Elie."

Fingers grasp my shoulder a second later after the fair warning, but regardless my scream threatened to rupture my vocal chords.

"Shhh...It's me."

The culprit covers his ears looking at me with ocean eyes and I hit his biceps feeling weak in the knees. "You scared me so bad. I thought you were some evil witch who wanted to cut my hair."

And knowing the explanation to my odd proclamation would turn out even more strange Will avoids questioning tactically and points out. "You left me behind without a word." The blue eyed general suddenly looked like an abandoned puppy who held a PhD in guilt tripping in his paws. "When I rush back after sendng away the messenger I find the room empty." He whines.

"I am sorry." I say as he pulls me away from the window being an immovable believer of my bad lucks.

"So what is all of this?" He manoeuvres around and chuckles.

"I don't know." I confess. "I asked him to bring me back to my home, but he took me here and then ditched me."

The hand Will was using to shut the window stilled and turned to me with a smile and said. "No wonder."

"What?"

Closing the window he fully turned and patted my shoulder sighing. "His way of dealing things is a bit extreme, but you shouldn't have tried to run away."

"Yeah he didn't have to..." I paused, then repeatedly shook my head. "No, hold on, what do you mean by me running away. I only wanted to go home."

Will sighs. "It is the same thing."

"It is not."

"It is."

"It is not."

Will warmly looked towards me in the manner of an experienced and wise elder. "It is."

"...."

Will laughed and patted me again. "Since that's sorted out will you tell me why you are more depressed than before I left you."

"Is it that obvious?"

He nods and I was shocked. I had thought I had restrained myself well enough but it seems it really was easy to see through me.

And noticing my perplexity he lowered himself to my eye level giving me a gentle smile. "Elie you can tell me anything. "

My lips upturned meeting his ocean eyes and I thought to myself, what good deed in my past life have I accomplished to meet him?

"You see, one of my friends is facing this problem." I take an indirect route, a method thought and executed by millions before me. "She is confused about something related to another friend of hers whose name I forgot." I continue believing Will would understand and play along.

But Will was truly a man who did not give face to others and straightforwardly broke apart my lie. "You haven't met your friends in a while."

Why the hell did I meet him?

My fists clenched wanting to throttle this oblivious fool into oblivion, but in the end it was not his fault.

"I am jealous."

Will stared at me for a long second and when he opened his mouth, he only said. "...Ah?"

Noticing his confusion I let it sink in and in this silence Will could be seen racking his mind mulling over the words I had spoken. "What could you be jealous of?"

I was not prepared to be questioned further in regards of the matter and struggled to find a proper reply. "...Not what, who."

Will's complexion seemed to ashen when realising I was serious, but his thoughts were not voiced by his tongue due to a sudden peculiar event.

An ancient scroll appeared between us suspended in air within a red flame and slightly frowning Will tapped on it and it quickly unrolled revealing its contents to Will whose frown straightened into a thin line and then when reading further it progressed to a smile before he bent over with laughter.

Author: What do you think is written in it?

I was greatly curious and almost moved into giggles myself when I saw his state of hysterics, but I knew it would take more than a few minutes for this fellow to return back to normal and recite the cause for his amusement.

But my last strand of patience ran out as the scroll bearing the message burnt out to ashes and I then wholeheartedly put my efforts into forcing out words from his mouth with painful pokes.

"Hades." He made out a single name and then quickly could no longer straighten his spine.

On one hand I thought of a thousand ways to end this friend of mine but on the other hand curiosity gave me a gentle tone of coaxing.

"Hades..." I promote.

"Apollo."

My brows shot up, I was a little confused and this time waited silently till Will took in a calming breath and joined the names together in a single sentence. "Hades burned down Apollo's palace."

Not a sound came out when I opened my mouth and I left it hanging till another scroll appeared which Will managed to access on the third try.

But fortunately filled with pity, he sacrificed two seconds of his mirth to squeeze out.

"The sun is on the run."

And then he laughed so hard that I believe his ribs promptly broke and a second later I joined, the both of us expressing our heartfelt delight in another's plight.

"Wouldn't he seek revenge?" I ask as the tears dry and Will finally suppresses his joy in smiles.

"I don't think so, he would have already anticipated such an outcome but couldn't save himself from it." Will looked lost in thought when rubbing his chin. "And even if he brings the incident to father or the council, its still useless. "

"Why?"

"Because there's no evidence that Hades was the one who did it." The manner he declared this with was as if he had done it himself.

"Then how did the.....scroll know?"

"Oh, everybody knows that he did it." Will's prideful smile was blinding by this point.

I sigh, then point out. "That doesn't make sense."

The statement suddenly seems to bring him to sobriety, and straightening his posture begins to enlighten my knowledge regarding greek gods.

"Apollo is quite strong and so there's only a handful who have the guts to offend him and sadly all the goddesses except for his sister adores him, its very sickening." Will pauses as if suddenly remembering an urgent matter.

"....Elie come to think of it." There was hesitancy in ocean eyes and by the sudden solemnity to his tone I was startled.

"You defended him even though he was rude to you.. I know what happened because the barrier I put up also in a way works like the mordern day cctv cam. So, do you like him too?"

"No," I say expressionless. "He's like a fish bone stuck in my throat."

"Good, good." Will nods multiple times, expressing his approval. "Let's continue."

"The ones who would mostly likely oppose Apollo are Zeus, who would do it for a pastime, Lord Ares if he is lightly provoked and maybe Lord Hephaestus if he was really really really provoked. And as for Lord Poseidon and Hades they rarely ever give too much thought to trivial matters, that is Apollo."

"But what rules the first four out is that they leave behind their mark either by mistake or purposefully like my father, but that's not the case with Hades who never lets his actionss trace back to him. Ever. He is actually so infamous in regards to this that everyone know that its him but can't do anything about-"

"Why did you stop?"

Will, suddenly stiff, looked carefully at the wall that had not long ago been erected and said two words before disappearing. "Gotta go."

And as I wondered of the reason for his sudden departure, a door appears on the textured wall, its knob smoothly turning when it opens.

A tall hooded man walks through the frame holding something peculiar in his pale hands.

"Where did you go?" I ask sounding distant while feigning anger, but with helplessness I knew I wanted to draw closer to those amber eyes and plead to them to relieve me off my sadness, to tell me my assumptions were all wrong, a bunch of stupid doubts, but I couldn't bring myself to step forward neither could I step back.

But the god doesn't reply as he pulls down the hood that smoothly slides down luscious locks that I knew when touched were like silk. "Don't you already know?"

A sheepish smile plays on my lips as he places the item he held on the table with a simple command. "Eat."

Pancakes?

Hades with indifference steps back and waits for me to come forward. "Thank you." My voice was hoarse realising only now that I hadn't eaten for over twenty four hours, but the one who had no obligation to such mortal rituals remembered. "How are you?" I ask ashamed of myself to let my emotions control me to the point that I did not even enquire about his health before this moment.

"I am alright." His soft eyelashes twitched, and his voice was deep when he spoke. "Why are standing there for? Come eat."

Swallowing the lump in my throat I pad over taking the plate of fresh pancakes into my hands, and when I sat myself in the chair he finally came closer and without a word stood by my side as I ate.

Amber eyes were lowered to mine and they seemed to be searching for something, for some kind of sign. "Do you still want to leave?" The god asks when the empty sliver plate was set down and it felt as if a dagger had been nailed through my heart.

I knew he believed my distress was caused by the god of the sun, but how could I tell him that it was from childish thoughts, that I couldn't taste the sweetness to the food with the bitterness in my heart, but I was selfish. I was selfish enough to cling onto the false kindness and to this amber eyed god without a second thought.

"Yes." My eyes crinkle from a forceful smile, but it withers like autumn leaves when slender fingers gently flick the skin between my brows.

"Your bag is left with William, come retrieve it later."

The words echo in my mind even when amber eyes disappear, leaving me looking at the pastel-colored walls of my room.

I was back...home?
