《Hades Doctor》Ariel - The Drunk Mermaid

I ease myself to the couch in my father's study not finding the needed comfort while my share of the famed wine from the orchards of Dionysus was left untouched on the table before me.

The past events kept replaying and I massage my temples in uneasiness, unable to tune out her heart wrenching sobs.

So everyone knew, she had asked as her calm crumbes to pieces in a voice cracked with raw emotions and all I could do was helplessly watch her disappear with the Lady of love.

I would have rather see her hurl statues at everyone in anger than see her cry is sadness.

The god of death hadn't stayed a second longer in the silent hall and quietly left with an expression so dark that even Zeus didn't dare provoke the lonely god.

"Stop sulking you guys, its turning my wine bitter." Zeus whines tracing the rims of the wine glass already broken and reassembled five time over in the last one minute.

I do not humour him with a response and let him bask in the heat of guilt and turns my attention to the notifications and mails.

Each of the same content of unrest and disorder in the kingdom of the Underworld, in tremors of its Ruler' mood who outwardly stood beside the windowsill, face stoic and unconcerned, the same impenetrable composture.

I sigh, knowing there was something going on between Elie and Lord Hades since none of the two mentioned uttered a word addressing the other and thinking back to the time I arrived to pick her up, face flushed and uncharacteristically gloomy, it clearly was bad but judging by their attitudes neither one was ready to be the first one to yield nor would they allow an outsider to interfere and so it was best for me to keep my silence and pretend to be unware of short fleeting glances each stole.

And Elie' mood from then on has only seemed to worsen and I can't help but perceive the pangs of regret wondering if it would have been any less hard on her if I had made an effort to explain or even hint the truth considering how I knew of the fragile relation between her and Thanatos before she came tumbling down to the Underworld.

The wine glass soundlessly broke for the tenth time and was left in glistening shards as Zeus stans up. "I am going to take a stroll outside."

I merely nod but the as he takes the first step the doors is pushed wide open without a knock tricking me into hoping for a grinning face to peek in.

But it was disappointingly only the captain of the west wing, a son of Ares stepping in. "My lord, Lord Hades, Sir William pardon me for my intrusion."

"Why do you look so flustered Captain Valid?" Zeus takes his seat with a new wine glass in hand, being maybe the only one to call Captain Vald, Valid.

"It's Lady Elizabeth."

Zeus' playful gaze grows keen and under the sudden scrutinizing gaze of three sets of eyes, the Captain seems to contemplate his next words.

And despite the fidgety in his actions I begin to imagine her reaction to 'Lady Elizabeth', laughter surely the first to ensue followed by a threat of murder if he ever calls her the same again and maybe after even invite him for a nice cup of tea.

"She's drunk."

Caught off guard I stumble for words and so was Zeus who swiftly moves his drink away before he chokes.

"What did you just say?" A blood thirsty aura explodes from the god of the Underworld as he takes a threatening step forward forcing the Captain to inch back.

"She consumed nectar, my lord." Vald replies trying to keep his cool and I almost fall back to the couch as I stand.

Nectar was the drink of gods and immortals and could be consumed by demigods but it was lethal to other mortals.

"How?" Hades grinds out the word, his jaw tense in frost, his entire demeanor hostile.

Vald freezes under the oppression, shocked dump and is quickly brought back to his senses in a sharp warning from Zeus still failing to call him by the name he very well knew.

"Valid!"

He forces his knees from buckling and hastily answers. "I do not know how, I was only sent with this short message." Because everyone else is scared witless, he seems to want to say.

"She was at Lady Aphrodite' part-" The Captain looks around the now empty room and silently cries in his heart, these psycho VIPs!

I was the last to reach the scene of utter chaos, my eyes searching for only one through the crowd of gods, staff and soliders running on their toes or dragged along by their friends away and out of the two doors that shuts close with a bang leaving only a handful behind within a matter of seconds.

"You don't deserve Percy Jackson!" I familiar voice rage directing the strange accusation at a very drunk Poseidon.

Tired, sleepy and drunk she was unharmed, but was barely balancing herself on the stool by the open bar with a formal blue jacket draped over her shoulder.

"Hey Arial! "

"Arial! Don't sleep, tell me where is your tail?" She slams down her fist like a judge bringing about an order but it goes unheard by the god ignorant to her stubbornness.

And soon he was in for a lesson as she tips the ice bucket over his head and almost accomplishs her task of granting the god of the oceans a cold shower before she somehow slides off the stool, laughing as she falls into Hades' hands who till the critical moment like his companions was shocked unresponsive by the sight.

"Thank you," she squeals before recognition dawns on her face.

"Hades?" Her head tilts to the side unaware of her own child like habit as he sets her on the counter and slowly and gently pushes her body back still in a sitting position till the edges graze below her knees, a simple action of thorough caution in fear she would manage to accidentally slip off again.

The breath I held release to a sigh and Zeus laughs as her brows crunch, her eyes ablaze in iolite as she declares to the god who helped her.

"I don't wanna see you! And you don't wanna see me and so you shouldn't see me and I shouldn't see you."

I sense it was a clear aftermath of their fight and lingering a second longer on the endearing face that hides behind her own hands I teleport myself from where I stood to corner the culprit giggling behind the scenes.

"Where are going Aphrodite?" The young goddess smiles, fortunately in her own skin.

And like an angle's wings her lashes flutter smiling innocently as she shrugs, the motion fluid and elegant. "Since the situation is under control, I am no longer needed." Her voice one of coaxing, designed to trap the listener into nodding along to her every whim, but my heart remains unflattered as I raise a brow accusingly.

"You call this under control? We simultaneously peak from behind the pillars finding two brothers in a never ending battle as one with all might heave the other over his shoulder, only soon to find him soaked in water as the other brother retains his position by the counter deep asleep.

And in another scene a god clueless of his next course of action intently looks down on the little ball of mischief dead set on ignoring his very existence.

"Okay, okay, that's not exactly an orderly situation, but I am not responsible." She breaks apart her enchantment revealing the sheepish grin of a prankster. "Directly. "

I knead the bridge of my nose feeling the years of my long life weigh me down. "Then just tell me how are you indirectly involved. "

"It was an accident, but I can't tell you about it here, I have to leave befor-"

Her smile cracks as I warn her."Its too late." A teleportation array lit into life under our feet and we land by the crowded counter.

A black band of smoke instantly coils around the Lady of love rendering her immobile and she quickly gives up the effort to struggle free with an expression reading, 'Shit I messed up!'

"How did this happen." Hades does not turn to us.

"Yes please tell us how exactly did you manage to cause this?" Zeus motions between Poseidon and Elie, the latter seeming to have taken interest in poking awake the former.

Aphrodite doesn't waste of a moment and puts on her best expression of repentance."I have nothing to do with Mermaid chan's condition other than watching by the sideline without interrupting." She finishes in one breath.

"And I did not get her drunk either....Directly. " I almost see her future turn grey but the rest of the explanation leaves me with tears of desperation.

"See the truth is, she had mixed fruit juice and I had nectar and when I took my eyes off her for a minute to greet Artemis, she broke her glass and insisted that she wouldn't mind being served in the same glass I used since we were running short of supplies."

"The party was huge!! Though I don't remember recalling inviting so many and you know how cranky Artemis gets if you don't give her enough attention so I had-" She pauses realizing how off track she was getting and resort to a small cough to restart the original plot.

"And since nectar doesn't mix well with water a thin film remained in the glass and so when she reordered her fruit juice it got into her system and this is how I found her later."

"What a low alcohol capacity. " I and Zeus find ourselves saying.

Elie was unaware of the pitying gazes that hovered over her as she finally brands Poseidon as a lost cause and gets startled entirely as she finds Hades still infront of her while Aphrodite now free of her restraints mindfully keeping her silence skips over to hide behind my body.

"Who got Poseidon drunk?" I ask slightly turning back and her hands reach around me to point at a certain drunk girl.

"After she got drunk she saw Poseidon hanging around the desserts and I think she holds some resentment towards him because when...... I let it slip that he could hold his alcohol very well she got on the center table and declared a drinking game with Mermaid chan against everyone else present."

"Without the the permission of any of the participants that is. "

"And it was executed by you?" I ask already knowing the answer.

"She was in a mad mood and I thought it would entertain her and everyone else had fun too." She replies finding her reason most justifying.

"Why is everything shaking?" Elie asks, her hand subconsciously seeking out the god before her whose gaze she still refused to meet.

And it seems she was the first to sense the oddity as the quake grows stronger with the shelves violently shaking.

In tactic understanding me and Aphrodite leap back far enough to remain untouched by the intoxicating liquids as each and every exquisite bottle shatters to peices simultaneous to a shout as the god of the seas looses him temper. "Shut up!!"

Zeus was the only one unlucky to be soaked sticky being too late to respond while the other two closest to him remain untainted.

My father grinds his teeth evidently pissed off by his wet attire and gently holds up the God who had soon fallen back asleep and without a shred of mercy brings down his left hand to his brother's neck, the slice breaking bones to make sure he stays asleep.

"Ouch" Aphrodite exclaims rubbing her own neck. "Today is definitely not Mermaid chan's best day."

The only other to have a reaction was Elie who kept a watchful gaze on Poseidon' chest and on not finding the steady rhythm forgets all her past resolutions and turns to Hades. "Is he alive?" She look...

"She feels guilty." The goddess saw through my thoughts looking far off as Hades nods brightening her iolite eyes.

And Aphrodite continues. "Since she was the one who got Mermaid chan in such a state."

"And I guess she feels bad about bugging him about his clothes persistently asking him to wear beach shorts and Hawaiian shirts.

"Because his suit didn't suit him."

"What was his reaction?" I ask venturing through all the possibilities mildly aware of the person slipping through the door and moving towards us.

She raises an eyebrow. "How do you think she has his jacket now?"

It wasn't my best guess."So he just gave it to her, I thought she stole it."

The Lady of love thinks back to the past events which brought her a smile in the present. "Not exactly, he threw it away but Elie wanted it so that she could imitate Lord Hades."

The hands that tug at the jacket stops, his palm lingering on her shoulder before Hades pulls it off and away.

"They look like father and daughter. " And it seems it was Vald who entered the hall once again forced into dangerous territories.

"Nope." Aphrodite is quick to rebuke to his statement.

"They are fools." And it is unknown whether the words ever reached the god of the Underworld as he doesn't visibly react to the daring remark.

Vald was rigid, his body tense ready to flee in the first sign of hostility and only ease after a minute pass in silence.

"I can carry her back to her room if she doesn't let you." Zeus grins with undertones of a provocation.

"Oh, she' not gonna like that." The lady of love comments on the verge of laughter.

My hands clench at my sides as I look down at the goddess, a strange possessiveness surging through my taut nerves with the familiarity with which she spoke of our Elizabeth.

Once again Vald finds himself in a tight spot with the tension that only grew till an ebony head looks around confused by stern faces.

"Pick who up?" She queries obviously not catching not catching the whole sentence.

Zeus drops Poseidon to the cold floor, his beautiful figure sensually leaning over the counter with a charming smile that could burrow deep into one's heart. "You, silly." His voice no less than Lady Love's enchanted and eyes reflecting clear blue skies.

Elie blankly stares back, her lips pressed to a thin line finding the man before her a "Weirdo."

She deapans as she leans away in cold refusal wrapping her hands around Hades undettered of the consequences.

Zeus pouts but a smug smile plays on his lips as Hades slowly recover from his shock and wrap his arms around the her figure snuggling her closer to the fabrics.

And unnoticed by all the black omnipotent energy condensing between the King's fingers had extinguished.

"He looks happy." Aphrodite smiles and Vald forcefully pulls away his gaze from her to Lord Hades who to him remained the cold stotic self.

"Sir William, Lady Hecate wishes for your presence. " Vald finally fulfills the reason for undertaking such a trial.

It seems that I have to go back and I glance back to Elie whom I couldn't even get a chance to talk to, but I don't know if she would want to talk to me.

I bid farewell to Aphrodite, the unexplained feelings making it short and almost cold.

"You are leaving?" And I realize my presence never went unnoticed by the pair of iolite eyes that peeks over the elbow of the God who held her.

She pats his hand indicating for him to let go and he does with a warning. "Don't fall."

"Are you leaving?" She asks again and I nod watching her look disheartened but her tongue lies for her.

"Okay then go, I am angry at you anyway. "

It still nevertheless hurt and as she takes wobbly steps foward I shorten the distance with my strides only to be trapped in a weak embrace that slowly warms my heart.

"I am still angry. "

"Elie I am..."

Her flushed face with the near comical red tinted nose rests her chin on my chest looking up cutting short my apology.

"But I love you, so come back quickly." I lean forward sighing to rest my forehead against hers finally smoothing the worried lines with a smile mirroring this sly fox I held.

"Now go." She let's go shooing me away.

But I don't want to.

"Don't kill anyone before I come back." I look over to Hades sending clear a message.

"He will look after you." I ruffle her hair sending her eyes aflame in fury and I dissapear before she could extract her revenge.

Truly a little mischievous ball and it seems goodbyes are growing harder.

Vald drags away the grumbling God of the seas who was pushed on to be his burden by his Lord Zeus with simple words.

"Valid, throw him back to his wife."

As the drunk God' hands nears his vulnerable neck he shrinks wanting to let him down and run away screaming, I need a change of occupation!!
