《How to Write Stories People Will Love》Question 90: Insecurities about writing

asks: I am feeling really insecure about my book. How do I know out if it's good enough?
The first dilemma is defining what "good enough" is when talking about books. It's a very subjective thing. What's good enough for one person may not be good enough for another. It's all just opinions when we get down to it. So the most important thing to remember is writing is a personal journey, like life.
As we get older, we learn things and make better decisions. The same thing with writing. We learn as we read and write more, and our skills improve. We never stop improving. The goal isn't "good enough", the goal is actually the journey. When I look back at past work, sometimes i cringe and think, wow, that was kinda bad. But then I remind myself that it was necessary to go through that stage to get to where I am today. There aren't any shortcuts.
So let's get back to "is my book good enough?" Ask yourself, is it as good as you know how to make it? If yes, then it's good enough. If no, then make the changes you think will improve it. When you don't know what else to improve, then it's done. It's good enough for this stage of your writing. When you get feedback from others, you will learn new things to improve. That will be the next leg of your writing journey.
Throughout this whole process, you must always remember one thing: You are not your writing. Our writing feels like an extension of ourselves, so if it's not "good enough" then we often conclude that we must not be good enough either. It's a painful prospect to consider.
Don't do that to yourself. YOU as a person are ALWAYS good enough. Regardless of whether your book meets expectations or not, YOU are still a valuable, lovable human being.
Believe it. Own it.

Mana, Chi, Divine, and Demonic, those four powers, which come from their respective entity, are the basis of all creation. For something to exist in this world, this thing must have either of them if not all four of them. The entities they come from could be considered as Gods. But unlike popular believe, they aren't "intelligent" beings. They act based on something unknown to us. This very thing which gave birth to their children. If the "Gods" couldn't be considered "intelligent", the same thing couldn't be said for their children. All of them could think and act on their own. And that's what they did. They quickly realized that among all the other creations, they were unique. Their abilities were nothing like the others. Even among them, siblings, some were clearly above the other ones. Thus, some of the weaker ones, feeling upset about their inability to oppose their siblings, decided to flee. Somewhere very far. And they managed to find something they had never seen before. Something which would change the fate of all of them.

Dozens, if not hundreds of worlds were destroyed or damaged by what amounted to a industrial accident on a higher level of existence. Many people and places however, were saved at the last instant and hastily slammed together into a makeshift world held together with magic and hope. The director was assigned to keep the whole thing going and stole the idea of a RPG driven system as a placeholder set of natural laws. One he is constantly having to apply ad hoc fixes and updates on the fly. The main character and the church he worked at end up being one of the places from modern earth that got saved. Possibly updating Saturday and Sunday if my schedule stays the same

Fate, such a small word with so much meaning. Also the name of one of the newest MMORPG with a Player base of 3 Million and growing. With a growing population around the world the masses needed another place to enjoy themselves and work. Your Fate is your hands. You decide what you want to be. A stalwart Paladin in service to a noble cause, a Warlock making Pacts with Devils and Demons, a Jewelcrafter that makes the best gems and jewelry in the world of Ithea, or a simple inn keeper the choice is yours.
