《Something about Alan》Chapter 3

Alan Hill?

"What?" I glared, ordering Kaira to continue because I did not know who he was. Anger took over my other emotions, and I turned my direction away from Jack and slowly clenched my hands into a fist, so ready to punch Kaira if she tells something lame.

Kaira rolled her eyes at me and scowled. "We all know who he is. Anna's son! Now can you at least pretend that it rings a bell?"

Everyone knows Anna. She is a fine cop here in our small city. Anna and her husband had moved their son to New York when he was a kid. Anna's sister was in a better financial position compared to her and took care of him. Well, that's what she enjoys telling to people: she prefers her son to study in New York because she never got a chance for that.

"Kaira, most of the information I get about people's lives in this city is from you." I pointed out to her, waiting for anyone to understand what I was implying. Mary and Jack just had their accusing eyes on me - eyebrows squinting deeper. Kaira snarled at me, matching the disbelieving look of Samuel. "I remember how you were all ears when I first said Anna's son is back and that all the girls and women were openly drooling over him."

"Yes!" I exclaimed, agreeing. "I was paying close attention to you because you enjoyed talking about him the entire week more than your sweetheart!"

Kaira gasped, the color of her face draining away, "What are you trying to tell, I am cheating on my boyfriend?" I opened my mouth, but Mary snorted, stopping me from retorting back at her. "Don't turn this over on someone else, Josephine!"

Jack, who stood there listening to all the accusations, did not say a word. I was expecting he would offer me a chance to speak, but nothing came out of his mouth.

Alan Hill

I do not know who he was or how in the world he fell into our drama. With what information I picked up from Kaira, he is back, and I don't know for what god damn reason!

I tried my best to interpret where this drama was heading, but I couldn't. I pleaded to Jack, declaring that I didn't know this Alan.

"He is handsome. Ever since his presence, every girl wanted him, and so did you. And I guess at last you got him, huh?" It was the last thing I heard from my friends, and I sprinted back to my house.

I don't know where Jack and I are standing right now, but I am not quitting on him.
