"Don't talk to me."

"Bloom, come on you can't-"

"Jake, I don't want to talk to you right now." I say, cutting him off.

Jake laughs in disbelief and I glare at him, shutting him up immediately, his Adam's apple bobbing as he swallows. "You can't be serious."

"I just- I can't look at you right now." I walk away from him, leaving the kitchen and instead sitting on our couch, turning my attention to the TV.

I hear him sigh from the kitchen before he rounds the corner, leaning against the doorframe and looking at me, hands in the pockets of his pyjama bottoms, his chest bare.

Keeping my eyes glued to the TV, I refuse to look at him as he stands and watches me. "Amber-"

"No."

"Amber."

He pushes off the doorframe and makes his way over to the couch but I shake my head and pull my legs up to my chest, resting my chin on my knees and wrapping my arms around my legs.

"You can't seriously be mad at me over this." He says with a small smirk, kneeling on the floor in front of me.

"I have every right."

He sighs and drops his head, "It was a dream, Amber."

"And in that dream you cheated on me."

He starts to laugh and I punch him in the arm.

"Amber." He places his hands on either side of my face and I look at the ceiling, refusing to meet his eyes. "Amber, look at me."

After a moment or two, I give in and lower my gaze.

"I love you." His thumbs stroke my cheeks gently. "And I would never cheat on you. Ever. Okay? Not in a million years."

"I know." I mumble quietly. "I love you too."

"What- What was that?" He asks with a smile, turning his head so that his ear was right next to my mouth.

I giggle and blow in his ear, causing him to flinch back immediately, rubbing his ear against his shoulder.

"You little-" He lurches forwards and begins to tickle my waist, making me scream, trying to claw away from him.

"Jake! Jake, stop, I can't- AHHH."

I collapse into uncontrollable giggles and Jake cuts me off with a kiss. I wrap my arms around his neck, pulling him closer.

"I. Love. You." He says in between kisses, trailing them from my mouth, to my jaw, to my neck. He picks me up, my legs around his waist.

"I love you too." I reply, running my fingers through his hair.

"So we're still on for the aquarium today?"

I smile and nod, touching the ring Jake gave me the first time we went an aquarium together. I haven't stopped wearing it since the holiday we met and I still love it.

He puts me down on the floor and kisses my nose, "Better get ready then." He slaps my arse as I walk past and I turn around to smack his chest as he follows me into our bedroom.

We arrive at the aquarium and Jake stops the car and unbuckles his seatbelt. I do the same and reach for the door handle. "Don't open your door." He says to me, holding an arm out.

"What? Why?"

He smiles, "Just don't open the door."

I watch as he gets out and jogs around the front of the car, opening my door for me with a flourish. "Really? You made me stay in the car just so you could do that?"

He shrugs, "I wanted to be a gentleman."

I laugh and step out of the car, "You're such a weirdo."

We walk hand in hand through the dark corridors of the aquarium, coming to a stop at the turtles. "We should've brought Maddy." I say, leaning closer to the glass.

"I really thought she'd outgrow her turtle phase but I think it just got stronger." Jake muses from beside me.

"Her mission to use less plastic is a positive outcome though."

"I guess, but I'm always scared to get scolded when she comes over for our lack of metal straws." Jake laughs. "Considering she's only 10 she can be quite scary."

I raise my eyebrows and turn to face him, "Are you trying to tell me you're scared of your little sister?"

"Well it's easy for you to make fun of when it's always me she shouts at."

I shrug with a smile, "It's not my fault I'm her favourite."

Jake just shakes his head and walks away. I quickly jog after his long strides and grab hold of his hand again.

"I spy with my little eye..."

"Jake, no." I whine.

"Bloom, the only way I'm going to get better is with practice."

"And I would have no problem practicing with you if you weren't such a sore loser."

He gasps in mock offence, "Me? A sore loser?"

"After that game on last years holiday you didn't speak to me for the rest of the day."

"You and your dad were cheating, I'm sure of it."

"Look, maybe I spy just isn't your thing." I shrug. "Like karaoke."

"You love when I serenade you on karaoke."

I grimace as I think back on all of Jake's drunk song dedications. "I love your intention. Your singing not so much."

He laughs, moving his arm to around my shoulders, tucking me into his side.

We enter a tunnel and I look up, the sharks and manta rays leisurely swimming above us.

"I didn't think much of aquariums until I met you." Jake says thoughtfully.

I look over to see his head bent up at the glass, the blue light and the shift of the water casting shadows over his features. I still find him just as beautiful as I did when I was 17. He looks older, obviously, but he still has the same childish excitement in his eyes, the same soft brown hair and wide smile.

He's still the same Jake that had me completely, and utterly in love with him after just ten days.

He senses me staring at him and shifts his gaze to meet mine, his expression oddly serious.

"Do you remember the first time we went the aquarium?" He asks.

"Yeah, of course." I nod.

He moves to stand facing me and grabs hold of both my hands. "And I gave you this." He says quietly, messing with the ring he gave me in Mallorca.

I laugh slightly, thinking back. "You were so nervous."

"I was, wasn't I?" He replies with a small chuckle of his own.

"I'd never seen you like that before."

"Well I was telling a girl I really liked how I felt, it's kind of nerve racking, you know?" He says with a smile.

"You don't seem to have any trouble with it now." Jake doesn't reply and instead brings my hands up to cover his heart and I feel it beating as if he'd just run a marathon. "Oh my God, are you ok?" I ask, confused as to why his heart was beating so fast.

"Turns out it doesn't get easier the second time round."

"Second time round?" I question.

He lets go of my hands and reaches into his back pocket, pulling out a small box. "Now, the first time I gave you a ring," he starts, spinning the box in his hand, "you jokingly asked if I was proposing."

He meets my eyes with a smile, but I don't react. I'm frozen, my mouth open slightly in shock.

"That time, I told you not to get ahead of yourself." He laughs slightly, looking at the floor. "This time, though, I think you could be onto something."

He slowly lowers himself onto one knee, squinting at me with a shy smile. "Amber Bloom, I love you. Quite a lot, actually."

I laugh and we share a smile, my eyes beginning to blur.

"You're my best friend, Bloom. And I have no doubt that I want to spend everyday of my life with you." He pauses, licking his lips with a nervous smile. "I assume you know what's coming," he laughs, opening the box, revealing a stunning engagement ring, "Amber Bloom, will you marry me?"
