She hugs me and instantly I hug her back, holding her tightly. My whole body relaxes, my shoulders sagging. I release a sigh of relief, burying my head into her neck.

I don't know what I would've done if she didn't believe me. If she'd walked away and never looked at me again. She means so much more to me than I ever could've thought she would, every sleepless night, every tear shed all because I fell for the girl who spilt her slush on me, the girl I could see from my balcony, the girl who loves to swim but hates sand, the girl that can't play mini golf to save her life but can beat me at a game of I spy any time of day.

We hug for a long time before I pull back and rest my forehead on hers, eyes still closed. Her breath fans across my face and I know that I could never lose her again.

Now that she's here, right in front of me, I can't imagine my life any other way. The way she gets on so well with Maddy and my parents, the way her eyes light up when she laughs; even the way she would hit me whenever I was teasing her or just being stupid. I need it. I need her.

"Amber." I whisper, my voice slightly raspy.

"Yeah?" She responds quietly.

I open my eyes to find her already looking at me.

"I love you." I say, thoughtfully, with no doubt that I mean it.

"I love you too." She says back and I can't help the smile that over comes my face.

I engulf her in a hug once more and pick her up, spinning her around before gently placing her back down.

I take in her whole face, every perfect feature one by one, my gaze eventually landing on her lips, resting there, and I hear her breath catch as she notices me staring.

"Can I kiss you?" I ask, suddenly breathless.

"Please do."

I snake my arms around her waist and draw her closer to me, slowly lowering my lips onto hers. We kiss and it feels as if we never stopped. I close my eyes and I'm back in the mirror maze, back at the aquarium, back on the rocks beside the shingle beach. Everything feels right again, everything completely and utterly perfect.

I did it.

I got my balcony girl.
