"You're not wearing a shirt."

"So? We're in Spain."

"We're also in public."

"Eh. Who am I to deny the public this." He uses his hand to gesture to his chest. I force myself to keep my eyes fixed on his face. "Go on, you know you want a peek."

"In your dreams."

"How'd you know I was dreaming about you?" He winks at me and I can't fight the blood that rushes to my cheeks.

I shove him, "Shut up." He laughs and continues to drag me through the streets. The sun is hot on my face and I squint up at the blue sky. Weather like this makes me happy. I just feel better; I can't explain it. "So...are you going to tell me where we're going?"

"Nope." We walk through streets that are all so familiar to me, after 17 years you tend to get to know a place. It's like a second home to me, and I can already tell we're heading in the direction of the beach.

"You're taking me to the beach?"

He looks at me over his aviators, "You only got here 2 days ago, how do you know where the beach is?"

"I think the more important question is how do you know I got here 2 days ago? I didn't leave my room the day I got here."

He blushes and looks away. "Our balcony's are really close," he shrugs, "I notice things."

I nod, "Well, to answer your question, I've come here every year since I was 6 months old."

"Wow. Maybe you should me taking me places."

"What makes you think I want to take you anywhere?"

"C'mon, we both know you love me." He winks at me and I roll my eyes.

"Are you cocky by nature, or have you been raised this way?"

He laughs and we turn the corner, the sea comes into view and the pavement in front of us is dusted with sand.

I shiver. "Ugh."

Jake turns to look at me, "What?"

"I hate sand."

He looks at me like I just killed a puppy. "You're kidding right? The beach is like, the best place on earth."

"I never said I didn't like the beach. The sea I love, the sand I hate."

"Bu-but sand is like...magic dust of summer or something."

"Magic dust of summer?"

"Well...yeah?"

"You're a literal 5 year old."

He gives me a lopsided smile and runs off towards the beach. I walk slowly after him, trying to get as little sand on my feet as possible.

He looks back at me, holding his hand up to his eyes in order to block out the sun. "Hurry up."

I stop and scowl at him, hands on my hips. "It's not my fault sand gets everywhere. I don't know about you, but I'd much rather not have sand in every crevice of my body."

He sighs and hangs his head before stomping towards me.

"What are yo-"

Jake leans down and throws me over his shoulder.

"Jake! What the hell are you doing!? Put me down!"

"I'm carrying you over the sand. You should be grateful."

"Grateful?!"

"This way you don't have to touch the sand at all." I feel him laugh beneath me, clearly enjoying winding me up.

I stay silent and look around. The beach is busy with pretty much every sunbed taken. "Hey, Jake."

"Yeah?"

"There's no sunbeds. Maybe we should just go back to the hotel."

"We don't need sunbeds."
