Different POV!

Following after the centuries-old original, Damon's cockiness slipped into his laid-back walk, as he carefully shut the door behind Elijah.

"What can I do for you, Damon?" Elijah inquired, raising an eyebrow and turning to face the dark-haired Salvatore. He was eager to return to the meetings, where he could hopefully steal Ana for a word about Klaus' whereabouts.

Shifting his gaze to the original, Damon mused "I was hoping we could have a word."

"Where's Elena?" Elijah demanded, sparing no time for pleasantries.

"Safe, with Stefan." Damon replied almost instantly, looking away from the original for a moment. "They're laying low, you know. Bit of a werewolf problem."

Stroking his fingers across the cold, hard wood of the cabinet, Elijah said "Yes, I heard about that."

"I'm sure you did, since it was your witch that saved the day." Damon responded, flashing one of his infamous, sarcastic smirks at the end.

Eyes burning into Damon's, Elijah smiled, ever so slightly, "You are welcome."

"Which adds to my confusion on exactly why you're here." Damon concluded, perching on the couch behind him.

"Why don't you just stay focused on keeping Elena and Ana safe and leave the rest to me." Elijah mustered, turning his head so it was inclined towards the dark-haired vampire. "And, uh, what's going on with you and Ana? Word tells me that the two of you have begun, hmm what do they call it nowadays... dating?"

Coughing a little, Damon raised an eyebrow at the brunette original. "I don't think my dating life is your business."

Elijah chuckled to himself before speeding around to Damon, forcing the younger vampire against a wall and frowning deeply at him. Struggling, Damon fought to get out of the original's grip, his blue eyes wide as the breath left his mouth.

"You young vampires, so arrogant." Elijah scoffed, his eyes narrowed at the thought of his sister-in-law settling for someone other than his brother. "How dare you come in here and challenge me? And how dare you so think about laying a finger on my brother's fiance."

"Ex-fiance, actually." Damon stuttered out, his head tilted to try and ease some of the sting from Elijah's incredibly strong grip.

Shaking his head in disbelief, Elijah mused "I don't know why I'm not killing you on the spot. Ana and Klaus have a love like no other, and I will not allow your puny vampire ego to get in the way of that."

"You can't kill me, man." Damon choked. "It's not part of the deal. Plus, imagine how Ana would get if she found out that her favourite Salvatore was dead?"

"Silence." Elijah uttered, tutting in irritation; he knew Damon was right.

So instead of killing the dark-haired vampire, Elijah snatched a pencil from the desk beside him and stabbed it into Damon's neck, watching him writhe in pain. Very much amused by seeing the eldest Salvatore suffer, Elijah dropped Damon to the floor and loomed over him.

As Damon yanked the pencil from his neck, Elijah stated "I'm an original. Show a little respect."

Reluctantly, Damon took the cloth that Elijah handed him and pressed it against the flooding blood against his neck, though the younger vampire chose to stay on the ground.

"The moment you cease to be of use to me, you're dead, so you should do what I say. Keep Elena safe, and... treat Ana well or I will personally behead you myself." Looking down at Damon one last time in warning, Elijah turned to leave, adding "Goodday, Damon."

On the ground, Damon just huffed, wondering how the hell Ana could worship Elijah when he was quite happy to go around threatening people she loved. What was so special about Elijah?

Back at the Boarding House, Ana and Damon were left alone to lounge on the couch together after Alaric excused himself to the bathroom. Damon had his arm draped over Ana's shoulder, and the youngest Petrova just led in his embrace, tired of the drama that followed with being a resident of Mystic Falls.

Noticing Damon's unusually quiet nature, Ana murmured "Dame, you with me?"

"Yeah, yeah." Damon replied, just shaking his head and forcing a smile down at his girlfriend.

Ana could see straight through his facade though, sitting up from the couch and frowning. "No, something's wrong. What's up? You can always talk to me, y'know."

"It's stupid." Damon muttered, brushing his hand slowly through Ana's thick hair and thinking of Elena Gilbert.

"Come on, I want to know." Ana pushed, moving away from Damon's hands and flashing her eyes eagerly.

"I just..." Looking away momentarily, Damon sighed to himself. "Why are you so close to Elijah? He's threatening, like, everyone."

A small smirk stretching across her face, Ana chuckled, nudging Damon. "I think someone's jealous."

"Me? Jealous? What have I got to be jealous of? I'm the one with the good looks, the sexier Salvatore. You said it yourself!" Damon scoffed, though Ana could see straight through his cocky nature, and she leaned in and rested her head on Damon's shoulder.

"Damon, Elijah's a close friend of mine, but we're nothing romantic; the dude's too old style for my liking. Okay?" Ana gave Damon a pointed look, and her response seemed to satisfy the younger vampire, as he sunk back into the sofa with a gentle smirk on his lips.

Emerging from the bathroom, Alaric came up behind the couple, his arms sheepishly in his pockets. "Uh, look, I should probably get going. I've got to pick Jenna up, and, uh, you guys should get some time to yourselves."

"Oh, okay. It was nice meeting you, Ric." Ana smiled at the hunter, and he gave a smile back.

Noticing Damon shift in his seat, Alaric added "Don't worry. I'll, uh, show myself out."

"Good luck." Damon muttered to his friend, pulling Ana closer and letting his head rest on top of hers.

However, both vampires eyes snapped open when they heard a crash come from the hallway, and Damon rose from the sofa, signalling for Ana to stay put whilst he checked on Ric. Not liking the eerie silence one bit, Ana followed after her boyfriend.

"Damon!" Ana yelped when she noticed a figure jump from the ceiling, but, being momentarily distracted, Ana didn't feel the syringe going into the soft flesh of her back.

Her body weakening, Ana fought to stay awake, failing her arms and gripping onto whatever was near, but it wasn't enough; her eyelids were getting heavier by the second. The vervain dosage must've been high, because the effects were much stronger than anything Ana had experienced. Before blacking out, Ana saw Damon's concerned diamond eyes piercing into her own.

Then nothing.
