"Oops, sorry lovebirds!" Ana exclaimed, walking into the Salvatore Boarding house late at night to find Damon staring at Rose's shoulder, half her nightgown stripped. "Uh, if you'll excuse me, I'll just-"

Damon sped in front of the vampire, smirking, pleased. "Hm, your humanity is back. Gotta say, I missed it. How was it with good, ol' Elijah, huh?"

"Yeah, fine. Fine." Ana dismissed, not wanting to talk about her encounter with Klaus. She knew that the Salvatores would immediately panic if they knew Klaus was on his way, especially for Elena's safety, and that was the last thing that Ana needed. "You two just looked like you were having a moment, so..."

"Well, we were. At least until we discovered the werewolf bite on my shoulder." Rose murmured sadly, and Ana immediately perked, looking over at the vampire.

"Those things are leth-" Ana went to say, stopping at the sharp look that Damon sent her. "You'll probably be fine."

Rose smiled weakly, but pulled her robe over her and went towards the stairs "I seriously doubt that, but thanks anyway."

Once Rose was gone, Ana leaned in, grinning at Damon. "What'd I miss?"

Ana helped Rose get to sleep, laying in bed with the sick vampire and calming her down. It actually worked as well, until Rose woke up early the next morning and saw how pale and diseased she looked. Then the vampire went back to worrying again.

"Damon, talk some sense into her." Ana told the black-haired vampire as he walked into the room, flashing him eyes that said make her feel better, stupid.

Damon shrugged, asking "What kinda sense?"

"Rose, tell him your logic, what you told me." Ana asked, rubbing the vampire on her back in a comforting way.

Rose nodded, beginning "I was born in 1450. That makes me five hundred and sixty years-old."

"If you were a bottle of wine..." Damon interjected, trying to lighten the mood for Rose so she didn't seem so depressed, but his joke just fell flat, earning a sarcastic look from Ana.

"So I can die. I've lived long enough."

Shaking her head, Ana replied "No, you can't. I'm, like, twenty-five years younger than you, does that mean that I should be dead, too? No, Rose. It's a stupid thought."

"You know," Damon added, a blood bag in his hand. "If you're going to be Maudlin, I'm just going to kill you myself. Just to put me out of your misery. Come on, it's just a little werewolf bite."

Not looking at either of the vampires in the room, Rose stated, with a dry laugh, "Just a little fatal to a vampire werewolf bite."

"Well, according to legend, which is a notoriously unreliable source..." Damon smiled at Rose, handing her a cup of blood. "Drink up. Blood heals."

Glugging the blood, Rose exhaled, putting a finger to her throat and saying "Yeah. It does feel like it's working."

"There's a positive." Ana pointed out, grinning at the good outcome, although inside, Ana knew what really happens with a werewolf bite. She'd seen it countless times to forget.

Damon nodded along, asking "Let's have a look. Come on. Let me see."

Ana shifted her gaze to the bite as well, squinting when she saw how much it had grown, and how sore it looked.

"How is it?" Rose asked, and Damon flashed Ana eyes, telling Ana that she should answer. Ana shook her head fiercely, narrowing her eyes at Damon, daring him to challenge her.

Huffing under his breath from defeat, Damon stuttered "Definitely... better. Right, Elena?" Elena Gilbert stood at the entrance to the room, her face tight with exasperation.

"And that's my que to go." Ana sighed, patting Rose on the back before heading towards the door.

Elena caught the vampires arm, saying "Ana, I wanted to talk-"

"Sorry, I only talk to people I like." Ana snapped back, frowning at the doppelganger. "I may have my humanity back, but it's going to take a lot more than sorry to revive our friendship."

Leaning on the doorway to Rose's room, Ana's forehead creased while she watched Elena talk to the seriously ill Rose. Upon spotting the vampire in the doorway, Elena strolled over.

"Hey, I was looking for Damon. Have you seen him?" Ana demanded, glancing over and her heartstrings pulling at how fragile Rose looked.

Shaking her head, Elena replied "He went out with Stefan, he asked me to watch Rose." Elena glanced behind her at Rose, before turning back. "She'll be okay, won't she?"

"Probably not." Ana stated bluntly, noticing Elena's weary face. "Look, I should stay here with you. Even though we aren't exactly... besties, Rose isn't in the right state of mind."

Smile hidden, Elena raised an eyebrow. "You sure?"

"It's not like Damon would forgive me if anything happened to you." Ana explained, brushing a strand of her black hair away, and smirking at Elena.

"Wait."

Both girls turned at the sound of Rose's voice, and Ana sped over to make sure the vampire was okay.

"Tell them to prepare the horses." Rose asked weakly, still in bed.

At this, Ana's stomach plummeted, but Elena seemed to remain calm, saying "It's okay, Rose. Just get some sleep. You'll feel better when you wake up."

"Trevor, don't be so stupid. We're never going to make it there before the sun." Rose mused, and Ana frowned deeply. Although she was concerned, Ana didn't speak because she knew that Rose might get a flashback and lash out, and right now, she was the perfect person to lash out at.

Rose suddenly shot up in bed, and Ana clutched the vampire's hand as she pleaded "Oh, Ana. Ana, I need more blood."

Nodding, the Petrova picked up the cup of blood and soothed Rose whilst she glugged the rest of the cup down. Instead of digesting the blood though, she violently spluttered it all back up onto the bedsheets.

"Damn." Ana cursed, rubbing Rose on the back while she ejected out all the blood. Trust me, it was not a pretty sight.

Elena, however, soothed the vampire, saying "Okay, you're alright."

"Elena, get a wet towel!" Ana demanded, stressed at knowing how Rose was dying and there was nothing they could do. They were utterly useless.

Walking back over, Elena paused when she saw couldn't see either vampires by the bed. Heart pounding, Elena peeped around the corner to find Ana pinned to the wall, and Rose digging her fingernails into the vampire's throat.

"Please, Rose... it wasn't my fault..." Ana begged, her voice coming out as scratchy.

Charcoal veins appeared under Rose's eyes as she spat "All Petrovas do is lie! You screwed us over, and Trevor is dead because you came to us! Do you not feel remorse?!"

"I'm... sorry..." Ana choked, and Elena rushed over, afraid to challenge the unstable vampire.

"Rose, you forgave her." Elena begged, eyes wide as she watched Ana suffocate all over again. "Don't kill her, Rose, you're not thinking straight."

The veins disappeared under Rose's eyes, and she squinted, recognising a pale Ana staring back at her "Ana? Oh my God. Oh my God, Ana, I'm so sorry. I don't know what's happening to me."

"Well, that hurt." Ana croaked, forcing a grin at Rose. "At least you got that bit outta the way."

Shooting Ana a glare for making the sick vampire feel guilty, Elena reassured Rose, saying "It's alright."

Elena embraced Ana, despite knowing the vampire still resented her a little, and turned to Rose. "It's alright. You're going to be alright."

"My mind, I'm..." Rose hesitated, turning around back to the bed.

"It was just for a second. And Ana isn't hurt, are you Ana?" Elena looked at Ana pointedly.

The vampire shook her head, saying "I'll survive, Rose."

"I'm sorry, don't be scared of me." Rose begged, turning to Elena, seeing as she was the only human in the house.

Elena shook her head, saying "I'm not, and nor is Ana. But... you need to rest."

"I'm scared." Rose confessed, weakly pulling the covers over her body.

"Don't be." Ana told her, sitting on the end of the bed. "Me and Elena are right here with you. You're safe, Rose."

Rose started shifting in the bed. "Here? Where's here?"

Grabbing her arm, Elena told Rose "Damon's bedroom. You're in Damon's bedroom."

"I want to go home." Rose cried, and Ana's forehead creased, wondering where she meant by home.

Ana leaned in, asking "Where is home? What's it like?"

"St. Austell. Thirty kilometers south of London. With fields and trees and horses."

Smiling, Elena breathed "Sounds beautiful."

"When you live long enough, everything disappears. So much time wasted. I just wish I hadn't been so afraid." Rose murmured, going into sleep.

Her mouth tugged down into a frown, Ana whispered "Ditto."
