"So, I know Ana's part is probably true, but... how much of your little story is true, Katherine?" Elena asked the vampire, now stood up against the cobbled wall.
Katherine laughed bitterly, replying "I have no reason to lie, Elena. This friendship you and my sister
have is interesting. Almost like she believes this is the relationship she never had with me." The vampire sent her sister a purposefully jealous look, before continuing. "I have no reason to do anything but sit here and read and rot."
"Okay, say that your half was even partially true." Elena waved a hand, talking theoretically. "That's the reason why you came back, isn't it? Because you wanted to be the one to hand me over to Klaus. Or did you want to reunite Ana and Klaus?"
Humming, Katherine responded "Five hundred years on the run, I figured maybe he'd be willing to strike a deal. Plus, I'd be doing Ana a favour anyway."
"I'm not some pawn in your plan, Katerina." Ana snapped, eyes flashing. "If I wish to reunite with Klaus, I shall do it on my own terms, thank you very much."
Elena nodded at Ana's response, saying "So you got Mason Lockwood to find you the moonstone."
"Right again."
"What else is needed to break the curse?" Elena asked, turning to Ana like she might be one of the ingredients.
Half behind one of the tomb walls, Katherine complimented "Look who's getting smarter."
"It's not just me or the stone, is it? Does Ana have to be sacrificed?" Elena concluded, watching Katherine staring back at her. "Otherwise, there would be no reason to trigger Tyler Lockwood's werewolf curse, and you wouldn't need Ana back in town."
Katherine made an ERR sound to indicate that Elena was wrong about at least one of the things "Ana is not a sacrifice, she's not even a pure Petrova. Witches and their spells- so many ingredients, so many people to sacrifice."
"So you don't need Ana, but you need a werewolf." Elena stated, looking for confirmation.
Ana nodded, replying "Werewolves are actually quite rare in the supernatural world."
"What else?"
Answering the question for Katherine, Ana remarked "A witch to cast the spell. I'm guessing my sister already has an adequate witch in line to do the job?"
"Bonnie'll do just fine." Katherine said, rolling her eyes and remembering how her last witch bailed on her.
"What else?"
Leaning in, Ana responded "A vampire."
"Caroline." Elena whispered, the realisation washing over her.
"You mean the blonde bombshell that was with you?" Ana asked, and Elena nodded in reply.
Katherine nodded, saying "Could have been anyone, I suppose, but I like the poetry of Caroline."

"So you were gonna just hand us all over to be killed?" Elena asked, shaking her head in disbelief.
Ana huffed, answering "This is Katerina we're talking about, Elena. You shouldn't be so shocked."

Putting a hand to her forehead, Elena bent down to pick up her bag, and Ana gave the human a hand, while taking her own duffel bag.
"Thanks." Elena said to the vampire. "You're leaving as well? Where to?"
Shrugging, Ana replied "Probably back to the Boarding House."
From behind, Stefan made his way down the stairs, breathing "Elena, and... Ana?"
"Hey, Stefan." Ana greeted, frowning as the Salvatore rushed right past her and towards Elena.
Shocked at his sudden appearance, Elena said "Stefan. What are you doing here?"
"I could ask you the same question. With Ana too? Since when are you two best buddies? She's a Petrova." Stefan spoke like Ana wasn't there, which was only aggravating the vampire.
Sarcasm lacing her tone, Ana muttered "Nice to see you too, Stefan. You know that I'm not like my sister, right?"
Sighing, Elena responded "Caroline told you. Look, Ana is not bad, she was actually helping me."
"No. Caroline kept your secret, but it didn't take long for me to figure out what was so important that you'd have to keep it from me." Stefan told Elena, shaking his head. "You feel more comfortable down here with someone you only met two days ago than with me?"
Elena looked like a deer in headlights, as she uttered "I knew you'd stop me- Ana didn't."
"Listen to me." Stefan demanded, pointing at Katherine, rotting in the tomb. "Whatever she said to you is a lie. Do not listen to her. She is a liar, Elena."
"What, and Ana is?" Elena asked, shrugging at her boyfriend. "What if it's the truth? You didn't hear what they said."
Turning to Ana with a cold glare, Stefan snapped "All you Petrovas bring is trouble."
"Excuse me?" Ana asked, veins appearing underneath her blue eyes. "All I told Elena was the truth. You need to stop being so overbearing, Stefan Salvatore."
"Stefan, leave her alone." Elena told him, putting a hand on his tense arm.
Stefan whipped his head back around to Elena, reassuring her "You don't have to worry. I'm not gonna let anything happen to you."
"That's the problem." Elena confessed, finally breaking after Stefan humiliated her so many times in front of Ana. "You won't... but you'll die trying. How is that any better?"
Listening from behind, Katherine spoke up "There's nothing you can do, Stefan. Me and Ana haven't shared the best part of the story."

More interested, Stefan and Elena turned their heads, both their eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
Ana sighed, and Katherine said "Sister, would you do the honours?"

Days after she had been turned, now left alone to her own instincts, Ana decided to return home to Bulgaria to greet her parents, maybe even have a midnight snack. It's not like her humanity was restraining her this time.
Huffing at the amount of bumps in the carriage, Ana breathed out once the carriage stilled outside her family home, and the distinct shout of the footman let her know that this was her stop.
"Ana?" A feminine voice asked outside the carriage, and Ana shifted her head to be faced with her very own vampire sister, Katerina.
Angry for making her the monster she was, Ana snapped "Yes?"
"What are you doing here?" Katerina asked, watching the carriage go off. Noticing something was up with her sister, Katerina stepped forward, her eyes squinting to see Ana in the darkness "Are- are you okay, Ana?"
But Ana didn't answer. Not when she saw the dead servants laying outside the mansion, their bodies sprawled in awkward positions on the floor. "Looks like Niklaus has been a naughty boy."
"Your humanity... it's off." Katerina concluded, frowning deeply as she stared into the emotionless eyes of Ana Petrova and ignoring her comment.
Impatient, Ana shot "Katerina, look."
The vampire turned her head, her mouth hanging open at the dead bodies. Katerina lowered her hood and looked at Ana fiercely. "Come on, Ana. Quick."
Both girls ran into the building, Ana speeding ahead of her sister. On the very first wall inside the house, a man leaned against the wall, a sword impaled into his bleeding chest. Katerina fell against the door, her whole body going rigid at the thought of her family being dead, but Ana seemed unfazed, strolling right over the corpses and towards her father's limp body.
"How poetic. Here I am, a bastard's daughter and here you are, a dead man." Ana laughed dryly, taking one look at Katerina sobbing over her mother's body, and saying "Yep, I'm going into the cellar to get myself some wine. Thanks, dad."
"Don't you care?!" Katerina yelled through her sobs, her hands pressed against her mother's body. "Our whole family is dead, all because of Klaus! He did this!"
Ana nodded, the wine bottle gripped in her hand as she responded "Oh, I'm well aware. Bless Klaus, he remembered how much I hated our father. Have you seen what a brilliant job he did on decapitating his limbs? It's rather marvellous."
"You... you're a monster, Ana." Katherine breathed, sobs racking against her chest, and her throat raw from crying so hard. "They're all gone..."
"You made me a monster, Katerina. I'm simply playing the part for you." Ana mustered, opening their hut door. "Now, have a horrible life on the run, Katerina. I hope Klaus finds you and rips you bone from bone after what you've done. Toodles."
Katerina continued sobbing for hours, mourning the life she used to have before Klaus came along and ruined her whole family. Before he ruined Ana Petrova.

"Not one person was left alive. The entire Petrova family wiped out, just because my dear sister 'killed' me and ran from the big, bad wolf." Ana explained, waving a hand around as she told the story.
Katherine leaned in, adding "Whatever you do to escape Klaus, he will get his vengeance, on your friends, your family, on anyone that you've ever loved."
"Not true, Elena." Ana interjected, frowning angrily at Katherine. "He was only so harsh on Katerina because his heart was broken into smithereens. Frankly, I would be the same if someone killed Klaus. There are other ways."
Stefan nodded, turning Elena towards him and saying "It's true. Look at me. Do not listen to Katherine, okay?"
Elena just blinked back at Ana and Stefan, giving Katherine an opportunity to speak "Always the protector, Stefan, but even you must realise that she's doomed. Of course, dear Ana is blind as a bat, she won't realise just how evil Klaus is until it slaps her in the face. There's nothing anyone can do to stop Klaus Mikaelson."
"Shut up, Katerina." Ana hissed, darting her eyes back to Elena. "She likes to taunt people, Elena. Take no notice."
"I'm not a liar, Ana." Katherine rolled her eyes, adding. "There is a way out, if you have this." Katherine revealed the moonstone, twirling it between her fingers.
This immediately caught Elena's attention, as she asked "What?"
"Oh, no." Stefan frowned, pointing at the transparent stone in Katherine's hand. "There it is. That's the ultimate lie, isn't it? You spun this whole thing so that we would have to get the stone from you, didn't you?"
Ana nodded "Sounds exactly like my sister."
"You're both too paranoid, I didn't spin anything. It's the truth. You should know, Ana." Katherine spat, her arms crossed at the accusations she was receiving.
Knowing he was right, Stefan continued "No. Let me guess. You wanna trade that stone for you freedom. Hmm? You manipulative, psychotic woman."
Snorting, Ana replied "No, she doesn't. Trust me, I know Katerina better than all of you combined."
"Ana's right, like always." Katherine mused, tilting her head towards her sibling. "I don't want my freedom, because when Klaus shows up to kill us all, except Ana maybe- and he will... I'll be in the tomb, where no vampire will enter, because they can't get out. I'll be the safest psychotic woman in town."
"She's delusional." Ana hummed, exhaling once Katherine disappeared back into the darkness.
