There were more vampires than usual working around and I think I saw a dog at one point....anyways.

I decided to visit the other pets, most of our masters were still busy and we were all bored...and besides, we thought it will be really cool to meet some new pets

"Yesterday's ball was kinda nice" a pet whose name I still can't remember said, following a set of positive response from the others

"Yeah...where were you anyway..." another guy asked "...one minute, you were with us and then BOOM! You're nowhere to be found" he said and I received curious looks from the others

"Well...I um...had to go to the bathroom in the mansion. The one at the ball was packed" I said and he scoffed

"That was the same excuse Joshua gave us" he said and there was a series of ohhs and ahhs making me flustered

"No no no, it's not like that..." I said but I was interrupted by a panting Joshua who appeared out of nowhere

"One more bite from that woman and I'm dead meat" he said and sat down on the floor, trying to catch his breath

"Wooooh, what happened to you?" Talia asked

"It's the princess! She's gone crazy!" he said and stood up, pointing to his neck and wrist which had bite marks that still looked fresh "she started feeling hungry all of a sudden....she literally just fed like 30 minutes ago!" he sat back down on the floor

"Calm down. I'll get some food for you, you must have lost a lot of blood" Talia said and walked off

"What I don't understand is how you're still awake. I heard royal bites are ruthless" a female pet said

"Err....i-I must have g-gotten used to it...I guess" he said with a confused look

"That could be it. Arielle also seems fine nowadays" another pet said making me freeze

"I...I must have gotten used to it too" I murmured and looked down; avoiding the questioning look Joshua was giving me. What? If he can get used to it, so can I!

AHHHH!

All of a sudden, we heard a loud scream that sounded a lot like Talia's. I was the first to speak

"What was that?"

"It...it sounds like Talia"

"Should we go and see what happened" another pet asked and we all stood still until we saw a female vampire speed past us

"Let's just go" Joshua said and walked forward, the rest of us following him

We walked down the stairs and we could see a lot of worried faces until we saw Talia running towards us, crying. She stopped in front of Joshua and hugged him

"Talia, what's wrong? We heard you scream" Joshua asked

"Ju....ju..." she tried to say but couldn't

"Just relax" I said and she calmed down

"Justin was killed" she said and started sobbing all over again. There were shocked looks on our faces. Who's Justin?

"That's sad. But why is there so much ruckus over it? A lot of pets are killed by their masters." A female pet said. Talia looked at us for some time before walking towards the scene. We took that as a hint to follow her. We stopped when we got there but couldn't see the body because of the female vampire from before, some guards and Isabella was standing in the way. One of the guards moved and we all saw a glimpse of Jason's body making us shook. One of the female pets let out a scream

I quickly looked away because I could already feel the vomit in my throat, the other pets following suit

"What...what is that?" I murmured

"Isabella said he was injected with venom only peculiar to the hunters" she said with a sniff

I dared to look at him one last time and took note of what was in front of me. He was still fully clothed and swollen but his face was on full display...if we could even call it a face anymore. It had green and black stripes all over it and some part of the skin seemed to have been burnt, showing a little of his skull and are those maggots?! I turned away again and rushed to a nearby toilet as the bile rose to my throat. I bent over the toilet bowl and waited for the vomit to come out but it didn't.

After making sure I was okay, I decided to go back to the rest of the pet but they weren't there. In fact, no one was there, even the body. Everyone seemed to have gone back to their duties and it was like nothing happened. Was I day dreaming or something?

"Are you Arielle" a small voice asked from behind me. I turned to see a slave that looked younger than me...maybe 16

"Yes why?" I asked and cocked my eyebrow

"Please follow me" she said and started walking forward. I followed her and after many turns, we stopped in front of a big door that read 'COUNCIL'

"You should go in now" she said and walked away immediately

I looked at the two guards standing in front of the door and they looked at my colar that had DEVON hanging on it. They nodded and opened the door, one of the guards following me.

"Arielle" Devon said with a smile

"Oh, you called me here" I asked and he nodded

"You're going to be meeting the council members so you have to be really respectful" he said and I nodded, understanding what he meant

He opened a smaller door and walked in. I followed him and stopped walking when he held my hand.

"Look up" he said and I sighed when I looked up

'More scary looking vampires, how great' I thought and Devon coughed

"They can read your mind" he said with a small smile

Oh, hehe

"You must be Arielle" a really intimidating male voice said and I looked down immediately

"Yes"

"Look up Arielle" I heard the queen say and I looked up to meet her smile

"Yesterday, Arielle was found unconscious on the toilet floor. As unimportant as this may seem, there are a lot of problems with this" Isabella started "first of all, this was found near her body" she raised something that looked like a black petal "with Mason's help, I was able to identify this as zyme, something only witches can create with blood" she said

"So she was attacked by a witch then" another voice said, sounding just as intimidating

"Yes princess Ciara. And the scent was covered well too, because in the presence of vampires and a werewolf, none detected that Arielle was bleeding...from her neck though" she said and everyone smiled "I also tried to uncover the scents but...that was also covered"

"But why will someone do that to Arielle" Princess Ciara asked again

"Good. Now, this zyme was used to wipe her memory. So what I can guess is, Arielle had some information about whoever did this to her." Isabella said and they all nodded

"Devon" Isabella called

"Yeah"

"When we entered that room, did you notice the smell of candles?" she asked and he nodded

"Great. zyme can be used for a lot of things but relating to this case, it was used to wipe her memory. I did some research and found out that zyme alone cannot be used to wipe her memory. After using the zyme, you need cast a memory spell and also use a Gore dust. The witch probably cast a memory spell, which explains the smell of candles but I'm 100% sure the witch didn't use a Gore dust" Isabella said and smiled

"And why is that" the king asked

"Gore dust is so powerful that up till now, no witch has been able to discover how to hide its scent. So if the witch used a Gore dust, it would have been more than easy to find out who did this" she said with a little jump

"So how does that help us" someone asked and she turned to him and placed her hands on his shoulder

"Mason, the Gore dust is the most important item when casting a memory spell. It is what makes the difference between temporary and permanent. Without the Gore dust, Arielle's memory loss is just temporary" she said and started laughing

"So what you mean is..." Devon started with a smile

"There's still a chance Arielle would be able to remember yesterday's activities"

"Is there a way you can speed up this process"

"I'm afraid not. The witch cast a memory spell" she said and frowned "anyway, that aside, something also happened yesterday. The chandelier fell. This also looks unimportant but it's very important. Before the ball, I made sure everything was perfect and there was no problem, in fact, I cast a perfection spell, but the chandelier fell, and it was intended to fall on the princess. In a room filled with Vampire and werewolves, obviously a chandelier wouldn't do anything to her or anyone right? So it wasn't intended to hurt anyone, it was a warning" she said and drank water

"Warning for what?" Megan asked

"This morning, Jason was found dead. And from what I've seen, he wasn't killed yesterday; he was killed earlier this morning, and by a hunter. Once again, the scent was covered ... by a witch"

"So the witch and Hunter are working together" another voice asked

"Yes, and they're being careless intentionally. Now this is where the real problem comes from." She sat down "the whole of Ruenastia is covered with a protection spell against Rouges, hunters or anyone else. You can only get in with the permission of any of the royals and I will be the one to allow the opening of the border. The king gave me the permission letter to allow the werewolves and foreign vampires come in, and only the werewolves and vampire came in. so it should have been impossible for the hunter or witch to come in" she said, placing emphasis on the 'come in'. "So it means one way or the other, we allowed both the hunter and the witch into Ruenastia long before yesterday."

"How is that even possible, we would have noticed the scent of a hunter" Megan said and Isabella smiled

"Any witch with basic skills should be able to perform a spell like that. They probably covered themselves with a human scent or completely erased their scents" she said

"Do you have any suspect in mind?" Mason asked

"I don't" she said and there was silence

"We'll continue this meeting tomorrow" a voice said and everyone sitting around the table stood up. Devon took my hand and signaled me to walk forward but I stopped when I heard my name

"Arielle" princess Ciara called and I turned to face her

"What do you think about becoming a vampire?" she asked and everyone turned to face me. With all confidence, I looked up and answered

"No offence but, I hate vampires. So no, I don't think I'd want to become a vampire" I said and she chuckled

"You may leave" she smiled

"You did well today Isabella" Devon said

"I stayed up all night due to yesterday's incident and then finding out Jason got killed... I really need a break. I'll be in my room... sleeping" she opened her room door "and please, no disturbances" she said and closed her door but opened it almost immediately

"Megan, I need to talk to you" she said with wide eyes

"Okay..." Megan walked into her room, looking confused

"Let's go" Devon said and I followed him

"You idiot" I slammed my fist on a nearby table "they figured it all out"

"Calm down Mason" he said and sipped from his cup

"Calm down! I should calm down! That Pet girl is going to ruin the whole plan!" I said and sat down

"What do you mean? We wiped her memory; she isn't going to be a problem anymore"

"Her memory loss is only temporary!" I growled

"What do you mean?"

"Why don't you ask that inexperienced witch of yours" I said and he sighed

"Arabella" he said and she appeared

"Yes master"

"What is this I hear, Arielle's memory loss is only Temporary" he said, his voice laced with anger

"I-I forgot to tell you master, I c-couldn't use the Gore dust because they would have found me" she mumbled

"Shit" he said and kicked the table, making it fall

"Coupled with the fact that you didn't complete the memory spell, we're definitely screwed. Why can't we just kill Arielle" I asked and he turned to face me

"No, we can't kill her. She's Devon's mate, she's going to be very useful in our plan." He said and sat back down

"Is that the only reason, or is there more" I asked with a smile

"That isn't any of your business, is it?" he asked

"I really don't care , just make sure no one I care about is hurt" I said and walked out of the room
