I woke up on a familiar gray bedsheet. My sight was hazy and my neck was sore. I looked at the window and saw that it was still a little dark with only a little light peeking through the curtain. My head was seriously hurting and little by little, memories of what happened yesterday— well, this morning — started coming back to me, making my head hurt like crazy.

"Finally, you're awake " a really deep husky unfamiliar voice said. I followed the direction of the voice and looked at my left. There was a hooded figure sitting on the chair at the far end of the room. Due to the little lighting I couldn't see his features.

"sorry, who are you?"I asked. He stood up and turned on the lights. He faced me and pulled down his black hood to reveal a pure white hair that hung neatly against his well defined face with golden eyes. He looked so familiar yet so unfamiliar at the same time.

"it's me, devon" I gasped and said

"no way, you look so different and your voice is deeper and your eyes aren't blue anymore, they are gold and your skin is paler"I said and he rolled his eyes at my reaction.

"whatever, take a shower and pick a dress from the closet. I give you an hour to do all that, if you aren't ready by then, there will be consequences "he said with an unamused expression and left the room.

What's wrong with Devon? He's acting cold.maybe it's just the stress of the ceremony...it will probably wear off after some time. I entered the bathroom and stripped. I picked up my toothbrush and looked at the mirror and my neck looked perfectly fine, apart from the fang mark on my neck. I tilted my neck and winced at the slight pain. It wasn't so bad so I dismissed it and toothbrushed. I stepped into the shower and washed my hair and body. I toweled and blow-dried my hair. I tied the towel around my body and stepped out of the room. I looked at the clock and I had 28 more minutes. I walked into the closet and picked a black top and blue Jeans and a flat shoe. I wore the clothes and put my hair in a messy bun. I stepped out of the room and saw Devon on the stairs. He seemed pleased with my dressing. I followed him down the stairs and he stopped halfway. He pulled out a black choker that said Devon and I wore it on my neck. We walked down to the dining room and saw Adrian and an unfamiliar girl standing besides him. He hadn't seen us until caden sat down. He looked up from his phone. I noticed that his eyes weren't red this time...they were gold. He stared at me, then Devon, then me again. He smirked and said

"what do you know, the girl is still alive "

"I told you I won't kill her " Devon said. Adrian flinched slightly at Devon's voice

"wow, puberty hit you hard bro" Adrian said

Devon gave him a death glare and said"you're crazy "

"what?!. You're lucky though...you got a cool hair colour while I got a boring brown and why are you wearing that hoodie? " he said

"isn't it obvious, it's because of my hair...it makes me look old"

"nah it makes you look handsome " we all turned to see megan. There wasn't much difference in her except that her eyes were gold and her skin is also pale. I looked behind her expecting to see Joshua but he wasn't there. It made me sad thinking about the possible reason as to why he isn't here.

"like, you look really handsome that if you weren't my brother, I would totally bang on you" megan said, using a weird accent that made Adrian laugh

"eeeew, megan what happened to you? That's just disgusting "Adrian said

"well, it's the truth "she said

"uhhhh, you're weird. Anyway, where's Joshua "Devon asked. I was really scared to know the answer. He was the only friend apart from Talia that I had and Adrian's pet doesn't look like a really interesting person

"he'll be here soon. He woke up late. I swear that guy sleeps like a log" megan said and I felt relieved

"oh, hey Arielle, how are you feeling? "she asked

"normal" I replied, not looking at her because the gold eyes were really creepy. So far, megan seemed normal, almost like nothing happened at all. Maybe the change is more dominant in males because Devon has been actin weird. I heard foot steps and I saw Joshua coming down the stairs with Talia. He wore a blue jeans and black top with sneakers. I looked at what I'm wearing and we were somewhat matching. I looked at him and he had the same expression while Talia was just smiling. He reached the table and stood next to me, next to megan. Talia bowed and left.

"Finally, you're done josh..."megan said, also looking at his and my clothing with a confused expression

"I'm not gonna ask how both of you have matching clothes and just wait till the king and Queen arrive" Adrian said. More people entered the room and they all had pets. They bowed to Adrian, Megan and Devon and sat down. Two minutes later, the room fas filled with vampires and slaves serving the food for vampires and pets. A guard entered the room and said

"The king and Queen" everyone stood up. A man and woman came forward. They both looked 30/40 but for all I know, they cold be a thousand years. They both had golden eyes and blonde hair and wore a golden crown. The Queen was extremely beautiful and the king was equally handsome. They walked down with friendly smiles on their faces and an aura that screamed authority. They sat down at the far end of the table opposite where Devon and megan were sitting with their pets on each side of them. Thier pets were elegantly dressed and they also had smiles on thier faces.

"sit" the king spoke and everyone apart from the pet sat down. The king and Queen took the first spoon of the food and sip of the blood with an impressed look on their face and the king gave everyone the permission to eat.

"can you tell us about the vampires " I asked. Prince Devon and princess megan had a meeting with the king and Queen and now, I'm with Talia and Joshua in megan's room. I found out that Talia is in charge of the pets welfare.

"yeah, they didn't teach us anything about them in the auction house "Joshua said

"well,there are alot of things to know about them. There are seven vampire kingdoms and each one is stronger than the other. Silvatorem, Ruenastia, Lavarre, Gilador, Silgeress, and Dilavi. Prince Adrian is from silvatorem, the strongest and most populated vampire Kingdom, we are in Ruenastia, the second strongest and most populated and the other kingdoms follow this pattern. There are royal vampires, noble vampires, elites and the subjects. The royal vampires are pureblood. Because they come from the ancestors of the first vampire, dracula.nobles are humans that are given honour by the royals and are changed to vampires. Elites are vampires of high social and economic position and the subjects are just normal vampires with normal vampire abilities like super speed, super strength and heightened senses while the royals,elites and few of the nobles have more powers like mind reading, ultrasonic, stronger and faster than a normal vampire, mind control, elemental powers......"she continued teaching us till megan and Devon sent a guard to come for us
