《Sophie Swan: P.L》Chapter six:

The next day, Alice gave me spare clothes and I went to school with them. We are sat in Rosalie's car watching Edward as both he and my sister are walking into school together. "She knows?" Jasper beside me nods his head.
Our school day went on as usual, I did however notice that Bella and Edward ditched school.
I got dropped off at home, and had a nice long shower, and got changed into my own clothes. Once Bella got home I decided to tell her that I knew. "Bells can I talk to you?"
"Yeah sure."
"Bella I know."
"Know what?"
"About Edward and his family. They told me a few nights ago."
"You know that they're vampires?" She whispered as she didn't want Charlie to hear.
"Yeah."
"Thanks for telling me, I thought I had to keep it from you."
I left her to do her own thing.
The next day, Bella and I were washing the truck, when we heard a loud bang. We looked up to find that Edward had jumped on their truck.
"Hey Edward." I say waving to him before continuing with the cleaning.
"Can you act human? I mean, I've got neighbours."
"I'm gonna take you to my place tomorrow."
I placed my headphones back in humming to the tune, giving them some privacy with their conversation.
I notice that Edward leaves and Jake and Uncle Billy arrive. "Hey! Come to visit your truck?"
"Looks good. Got that dent out."
I walked over and gave them both a hug.
"Actually, we came to visit your flat screen. First Mariners game of the season. Plus Jacob here keeps bugging me about seeing you again."
"Great, dad...thanks."
"Just keeping it real, son."
"Vitamin 'R'." My dad shows of his case of beer.
"Well done, Chief. Harry Clearwater's homemade fish fry."
"Good man."
"Any luck with that Waylon case?" Dad started to wheel Billy toward the house.
"Well, I don't think it was an animal that killed him."
"I never thought it was." I looked at Billy strange.
"You spread the word out at the res, huh? Keep the kids out of the woods."
"Will do. Don't want no one else getting hurt, do we?" He looked at both me and Bella, although more so Bells.
Two days had passed and Bella had met Edwards family. Apparently Rosalie was pretty hostile toward Bella. Bella and I parked up outside of the local diner, to meet our dad for another meal.
We get out and find Mike making his way to us, or more or so Bella. "Arizona! Yo, what's happening? So... you and Cullen, huh? That's. I don't like it, I mean... he looks at you like you're something to eat."

"Mike." I practically warn him.
"Hey, Sophie." He hugs me, before I make my way into the diner.
"I'm sorry, we're late. Biology Projects." Bella told for both of us.
"I ordered you two the Spinach Salad. I hope that's okay."
"It's great dad thank you." I say.
"You should order one for yourself next time. Cut back on the steak." I giggle at Bella's remark.
"Hey, I'm as healthy as a horse."
"Uh, so Chief... boys wanna know, did you find anything down by Creets River today?" Cora asked solemnly. I feel so bad for her, her and Waylon were close.
"Yeah, we found a bare human footprint. But it looks like who ever that is, it's headed to east. So, Ketsap's County Sheriff is gonna take over from here." Bella and I give a knowing look to each other.
"Okay."
"Okay."
"I just hope they catch them fast." And with that Cora walks off with a glum face.
I dig into my salad as I am starving with a capital S. Cause food is life.
"Looks like your friends are flagging you." I and Bella look outside the window to see Mike dancing his little head away in a bush.
"Dad." I gasp disgustedly.
"It's okay. If you wanna go, join them. I was just gonna turn in early anyway."
"Me too."
"Me three." I have too much homework to get done.
"Girl's, Friday night go out. Looks like the Newton boy's got a big smile for you."
"Yeah, he's a good buddy."
"A flirty one too." I mumble.
"What about any of those other yahoos in town? Anybody interest you two?"
"Dad, we're gonna talk about boys?" I look at Bella and then dad.
"I guess not. I just feel like I leave you alone too much. You should be around people."
"I don't mind being alone, I guess I'm kind of like my dad in that way."
Once we got back home, I got ready for bed and got straight into my lovely stack of homework. And after what felt like a decade and a mountain of homework later I managed to complete everything so I had the weekend to do basically whatever. I wonder what Alice or Rosalie were up to.
As if on que to thinking her name, Alice texted asking if I wanted to go with her and her family to watch them play baseball. Sounds like fun.
The morning I woke up excited for the day, apparently Bella got invited to. I got dressed ready for the baseball game.
I walked down the stairs to find Bella, my dad and Edward.
As we were driving to our destination, I got a text from Emmett, asking if I wanted to make a bet with him about who would win first round. 'You're on tuff guy'

We arrived on the field and walked to the others. I said hello to everyone and gave a cheeky smile to Emmett, and he said, "You may as well pay up now, we all know I'll win."
"No way, you should pay up now I bet on the greatest players here, and that doesn't include you." I gave him a cheeky smile and we both laughed.
"Of course you guys bet on the game."
We smiled at Jasper all innocent like before heading towards our positions. Rosalie, Carlisle and Jasper on the batting team. Emmett, Edward and Esme on the fielding team with Alice being the bowler. Bella is umpire and I the score holder.
Alice pronounces its time to play. Rosalie hits and shoots the ball high in the air, before taking off.
Rosalie gets tagged out and I silently swear under my breath, which earns a massive grin from Emmett. Emmett cheers, and Rosalie looks at him in annoyance.
"Come on babe it's just a game."
"Just a game? I just lost 10 bucks." I whined.
Carlisle was up next, I'm crossing my fingers hoping to get back at Emmett and win back my money.
Alice throws the ball and Carlisle hits and the ball heads straight for Emmett and Edward. Both boys go for the ball and end up crashing into each other, which lead to me laughing, and somewhat praising myself for winning back my 10 bucks.
After Jasper had gone, winning me $10 from Emmett, Alice turns around with a worried look upon her face. "Stop! They were leaving, then they heard us." Everyone had made it toward us, Edward straight for Bella.
"Lets go."
"It's too late."
"What's going on?" No one answered, instead Rosalie, Jasper and Emmett hid me behind them, whilst Bella behind Edward, Alice and Esme.
Through the fog up ahead, three figures emerged and headed straight for us. Two male and one female.
The male standing in the middle of the other two stepped forward and presented the ball to us.
"I believe this belongs to you."
He throws it to Carlisle, who catches it with ease. "Thank you."
"I am Laurent and this is Victoria and James."
"I'm Carlisle. This is my family. I'm afraid your hunting activities have caused something of a mess for us."
"Our apologies. We didn't realise the territory had been claimed."
"Yes, well we maintain a permanent residence nearby."
"Really? Well, we won't be a problem anymore. We were just passing through."
"The humans were tracking us but we lead them east. You should be safe."
"Excellent."
Throughout the entire altercation with the three in front of us, the lady, Victoria had been looking me up and down with a bit of a smile, but who knows what that smile meant. Rosalie grabs hold of my arm and pulls me closer to her in a protective manner. Victoria noticed this and gave a smirk.
"So could you use three more players? Oh come on. Just one game."
"Sure, why not? Three of us were leaving. You can take their place."
"Is this one going to stay?" Victoria looked straight at me with a sweet smile.
I shook my head subtly. "No Sophie is going to be leaving. We'll bat first." Carlisle threw the ball at them, Victoria being the one to catch it.
"I'm the one with the wicked curve ball."
"Well, I think we can handle that." I smirk at Jasper, who's quite confident. Good on him, and to think he comes off as the shy type.
I'm curious though, why Victoria asked that. Did she want me to stay?
"We shall see." With that Victoria and Laurent turned around and began to walk away, Rosalie tugged on my arm and we started to walk back. I turned to see that James and Edward were staring at each other before turning. That's when the wind picked up and before anyone could do anything to stop the three strangers from noticing there were two humans among them, they caught our scent.
"You brought snacks." Both Bella and I were pulled behind everyone, in a protective stance.
"The girls are with us. I think it best if you leave." Victoria was staring at me again, this time we were holding eye contact. What does this lady want with me?
"I can see the game is over. We'll go now. James." Laurent and James get up, while Victoria was still crouched in a defensive position staring at me. Before getting up and going over to James and before you knew it they were out of sight.
"Get the girls out of here... go."
Edward escorted both me and Bella over to the car and he rushes to put Bella's seatbelt on. While I quickly do mine. Somethings up, why is everyone so worried?
"Listen to me, James is a tracker. The hunt is his obsession. I read his mind. My reaction at the field set him off. I just made this his most exciting game ever. He's never gonna stop."
"What do we do?"
"We have to kill him. Rip him apart and burn the pieces."
"Where are we going?"
"Away from Forks. We'll get a ferry to Vancouver."
"We have to go home, now! You should take us home."
"You can't go home, he's just gonna trace your scent there. It's the first place he's gonna look."
"But my dad is there."
"It doesn't matter!"
"Yes, it does! He could get killed because of us."
"Just let me get you out of here first, alright?"
"It's my dad! We have to go back. We'll figure a way how to lead the tracker away somehow. I don't know! But we have to do something."

ICOMO ODYSSEY
Jonathan Vélo never expected to be famous. Not for riding his bike all the way around the continent of Icomo. Every adult knows his story, and children learn about him at school. This, however, is the first and only biography written about that great man with foreigners in mind. We, his biographers, imagine they will be immensely grateful. Of course, readers will find the people of Icomo an unusual sort for glorifying a young man who did nothing more than quit his job and ride his bike from town to town, city to city… But in an age of robots and computers, when little escapes the notice of the historian, there is a quiet epic to be told. It is the epic of cozy nights in a tent below the stars, of warm wind and ocean waves. It is also the epic of missing old friends in faraway places, and that feeling of needing to make life mean something. *** ‘ICOMO ODYSSEY’ is a nostalgic slice-of-life adventure about a utopian sci-fi land. No clever villains or epic fights here. Just cozy pleasures, charming towns and villages, interesting cultures, and the people who live in them… This story will update bi-weekly on Friday and Saturday. https://www.scribblehub.com/series/467210/icomo-odyssey/

BODY&SHADOW
AN ILLUSTRATED NOVEL • UPDATES TUESDAY AND FRIDAY In a time before living memory, the King Dragon of the Void watched the world and realized there was a crack. He realized that humanity was destroying the rock upon which they lived; they leaked life’s code into the churning chaos. At first the change was imperceptible: nanites overtook microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, amoebas. Insects became increasingly inorganic; birds and lizards followed soon after. Even humans were infected by their own advances, cell by cell, till there was not a person left on earth who wasn’t at least part synthetic, the product of a prior generation’s carelessness. The world’s population was ravaged by mechanical viruses with no vaccines; they were mercilessly overtaken by bacteria that knew no death. Soon, most of the planet was empty and only a handful remained who remembered the hedonist realm they came from; only a few were left who remembered what the world looked like when their buildings touched the sky. The King Dragon of the Void watched the rock turn. He watched humans cower as the Old World fell down around them; watched their great monuments crumble into dusty ruins; watched their codes become precious, ancient gem memories forged under the crushing pressure of so many fallen stones. The world has spun many times around the sun since chaos swallowed man whole. It is a simpler time than the one that died out, but the people now are not immune to the folly of the people before. There is old code everywhere: in the water, in the air, in the trees. The heart of man has been replaced by power cores, many of which are hard-coded with preternatural abilities—when they die, an esoteric mountain sect collects their cores and stores them in their hollow mountain home to preserve the sanctity and dignity of human death. They’ve learned to harness artifacts of the old world, gemstones full of codes their nanite infused bodies can parse as spells imbuing their users with great power; they inlay them into their bodies, into their skins, connected to their cores by copper conduit and gold tracers; they dress themselves in tattoos to advertise their prowess; they battle for relics in arenas, fight for them in the open world wherever they are found. The King Dragon of the Void watches the rock turn and wonders: when will this hunger finally make the rock stop spinning? WELCOME TO FANXING CITY … Twenty-five years ago, Fanxing City and the surrounding lands were commanded by the mad King Zao Beiguan. For many years, the King hoarded wealth, artifacts, food; he demanded tribute from a people already taxed to the edges of their existence and expected they be happy with their circumstances. Noncompliance was often punished harshly, bodies displayed proudly on Fanxing’s streets as a warning, from the city gates to the Zao palace’s golden doors. The youths of several prominent clans came together to overthrow the tyrant and made names for themselves as legendary heroes across the land: Tian, Ren, Feng, Gui, Ma, and Zhenxi. Even wanderers from the Luanshi sect descended from Yunji mountain to aid the rebellion. When the dust settled after three years, Tian Yunyong ascended the throne of Fanxing and swore to honour his slain father’s memory, and has maintained Fanxing’s peace with generosity and mercy where fear and cruelty once reigned.
