《Blaze, My Mate》Chapter 19

I woke up to laughter and I knew it was Azure but why was I asleep in my clothes? It took a minute for everything that happened last night to sink in. It was embarrassing, how could I act like that in front of Blaze? How will I face him? I mean, he was understanding and all but who broke down just because the people who gave birth to you were knocking on your door. Well, I guess it was me but in my defence those people disowned me.
I got off the bed and went to the bathroom to wash my face. It was dry from all the crying. My eyes were red and puffy. The good thing was that I felt well-rested and it was all because of Blaze. He didn't laugh at me when he found out why I was so emotional. He held me and for the first time in two years, I didn't feel like it was me against the world now that he was in my life.
After I washed my face, tamed my hair and changed clothes, I made my way to the laughing pair. It sounded like they were imitating hyenas. I was still apprehensive about facing Blaze. what if he thought I was being ridiculous but couldn't say anything since I was crying. After I pep talked to myself, I exhaled and left the corridor.
My guys were in the kitchen. Azure was sitting on the island top clapping his hands and beaming at his father as he tried to sound like a hyena. You ask why? Well, my son loved The lion king and his latest thing was laughing like hyenas. First, it was roaring and it was the songs which were better if you asked me. I loved my son but I was not going to roar or laugh like a hyena all day so I would tell him to wait for his dad. Blaze didn't mind, he would it while giving him his bath. Bath time had become their special time. I tried bathing him once when Blaze was busy, getting him out of the tub was a nightmare. I had to call his father to get him out, don't ask me how he did it because I don't know.

His father was diligent in stacking pancakes on a plate, all I'm saying is he tried. He seemed a bit tired but he was smiling. I just stood there admiring them, and thanking the Goddess for my family.
"Mama, you okay mmm?" My son asked, making his father snap his head in my direction. He gave me that breathtaking smile but there was concern in his eyes.
"Mama, come." Azure opened his arms for me to hug him. I took him in my arms and took in his scent.
"Mama is okay baby boy. I'm fine my love." He just giggled and turned to look at his father.
"Good morning, sleeping beauty. I hope you slept well," he said walking to the dining table. He put the pancakes next to the plate of bacon, there was also some eggs, juice and a bowl of wild berries. Blaze made sure they never run out after all it was what Azure loved.
"I was going to wake up you when I was done. I know, you love sunnyside up eggs but this morning you are having them scrambled." He motioned for me to join him at the table. I put Azure on his chair and sat on mine.
"I don't get why the pancakes look weird, I followed the recipe to a tee." He seemed genuinely confused.
"Do worry about it, I think they look unique. I mean, you made them." He scoffed at that and we dug in.
Everything was good taste-wise, even though the pancakes looked like flatbread. I could feel Blaze's eyes on me the whole time we were eating, but I just kept my eyes on my plate. I didn't know why but I couldn't meet his gaze. Maybe it was because of yesterday's events. I wanted to apologise but I had no idea how.

"So, about yesterday...." He trailed off and gave a nervous chuckle. "I...I kinda asked Leona to come and look after Azure. I hope you don't mind." That was what he was apprehensive of, of course, I didn't mind he was his son too.
"It's okay, you did what you felt was right considering what was happening," I gathered all my strength and met his eyes. They held nothing but adoration.
"Azure is your son too, so don't feel like you need my permission if you want him to meet anybody. I don't mind him meeting the pack if it's okay with you." He smiled and took my hand and kissed it.
"Thank you," he said. He must have seen the confusion on my face because he explained.
"For trusting me. I have wanted him to meet my parents and the pack. I also think it would do him good to interact with other pups."
"It sounds good to me, he can start going to the daycare since I'm busy with my studies and he ends up watching TV all the time." I knew it was the right thing to do but I wondered of Azure was ready.
"My parents have been pestering me about us having dinner with them. If it's okay with you, we can go so Azure can meet them."
"That's okay, when?" Asked breathlessly. I still didn't know how I felt about Luna Lisa. She was not my favourite person and I didn't think we will ever be close.
"I will tell them tomorrow night. Are you sure you are okay with this? My parents can always wait until you are comfortable." Azure was eating was playing with his berries and minding his business.
"Talking about yesterday, I'm sorry Blaze. I don't know what came over," I said lowering my eyes.
"Hey, stop it, I understand you don't have to explain anything to me okay."
"You have so much on your plate already, the last thing you need is me and my issues." He tightened his hold on my hand.
"Nothing is more important to me than you and our son. I just wish you can believe that" he said seriously.
"I'll make sure your parents stay away from you until you are ready to face them. Please trust me." He pleaded.
"I trust you with my life Blaze, don't ever doubt that. It's just that I'm so angry with them and at the same time I missed them so much." I could feel the tears coming but fought hard to keep them at bay. I didn't want to freak my son out. My mate came and hugged me.
"It's okay baby, we will get through this together. This is all my fault." It wasn't his fault that they decided to throw me away.
"Blaze please, don't blame yourself, they made that choice not you."

An Average American in A High-school Academy Anime
An American versed in narrative tropes and more than mildly acquainted with anime wakes up in a completely different bed than the one he went to bed in. Now he has to scramble to understand where he is, what's going on, and hope to God he isn't in a relationship drama. I don't expect this to be good or well-received, but I have plenty of time this quarantine, so I'll try to get a chapter of 4000-10000 words out every one or two weeks. (haha) Please let me know how it can be improved. I'm an avid reader of fiction, but I've never really fallen down a rabbit hole so hard that I can name all tropes and settings and such by heart. I'm not sure if this will be effective satire, so I preemptively apologize. Inspired by: "My Life is Not a Manga, or maybe..." by EO Tenkey and "The Simulacrum" by Eganthale. Check them out if you want probably better stories than this one.
