《Blind Hope》Saving Hope

Last time on Blind Hope
"Maybe he won't want to mate, but that's okay because I can wait. I can wait for years! And children, maybe we'll have those. I would like that. We could name them Harper and Ashton!" Hope stopped pacing and rubbed her hand down her face. "How would I take care of Harper and Ashton?! Are there braille books about this? Childrearing for the Blind?"
"My gosh, she's still going!"
"Back up," Blake said, dragging Vivian out of the room. "Keep on backing up."

Dorian sighed, feeling as if someone was talking about him. The guard in the front stayed quiet as he drove, but the guard in the backseat with Dorian was a completely different story.
"Majesty?"
"Yes, Hector." Hector swallowed nervously.
"You like the Queen?" Dorian chuckled, but not a good chuckle. An evil, fearing for life, chuckle.
"Yes, Hector. What a stupid question."
"Right. Yeah. I see that. Here's the thing. Her friend, Luna Vivian, is extremely worried about letting her leave." Hector rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. Dorian snarled.
"Vivian can take her worry, and-"
"Did you know she's allergic to pineapple? That's so random, but Luna Vivian was freaking out about it." Hector began blurting things out, his nerves increasing. "And she trips a lot. And walks off things, like cliffs. You gotta be fast, because her balance isn't good. Even just hitting the leg can throw her off. And-"
"Hector," Dorian said with an eerie quietness to his voice.
"Yeah, Majesty?"
"Do you have a point?" The guard in the driver seat couldn't help but looked up, nervous for his younger friend.
"I do, and I should say that. I, um. That is, you are not always going to be around the Queen for obvious, kingly duties. I was wondering if you will be assigning a guard, like Luna Vivian, but for ya know... ever. 'Cause the Queen released Vivian from the oath binding them."
"She what!? What happens if I can't get back to her in time?! Why didn't you mention this sooner!?" The border of the territory began to approach. "STOP THE CAR!" The older guard William slammed the brakes. Dorian threw the car door open and grabbed Hector's shirt.
"Majesty!?"
"You want to be her temporary guard!?" Dorian literally growled in his face, but Hector nodded. "When we get back to to the Pack, I will personally train someone to hell and back." Hector nodded. "But for now, you'll do." He tossed Hector out of the vehicle. "DO NOT LEAVE HER SIDE, UNDERSTAND, HECTOR!?"

Hector leaped to his feet, his eyes shinning. "Yes, Alpha King Dorian! I will not disappoint!" Dorian slammed the car door, and they drove away. Hector shifted instantly and rushed away back towards the pack-house. His tongue hung out of his mouth.
"That was probably a mistake." Dorian sighed, and looked at his driver. "He's a good kid though. Lot of heart."
"He makes up in heart what he lacks in brain." Dorian nodded. He had figured as much. The car kept driving along at a decent speed and lulled Dorian to sleep. It would be a couple hours anyway. He went to sleep with Hope's blushing face in mind, and her words ringing in his ears, "Mi amor." My love.
"Sir? Sir?" William opened the door and gently shook Dorian. "Majesty, we've arrived." Dorian sat up, clearing his throat.
"Yes, yes." He stepped out of the car, and looked around. No greeting. This is why he like the Moonshire Pack. They knew how things were done. "Pathetic already." William nodded and followed as Dorian made his way up to the pack-house. "Am I at the Heart Pack, or this an abandoned village?"
"Your Majesty!?" Drake jumped up from the bar, where he had been downing a beer. He had Victoria had not been on good terms since Hope's disappearance. "I... welcome!" He nervously ran his fingers through his hair.
"Alpha Drake." Dorian nodded, his eyes showing clear disapproval. "I've been away from my pack for longer than I wish to be. I was hoping this would be quick, but it seems you have many problems." Drake looked at the bottles on the counter and laughed nervously.
"All personal, I'm afraid. Nothing that would be of interest to you or the Council."
"As long as the pack runs," Dorian nodded his agreeance and glanced back at William. He was hard-core glaring.
"Right this way." Drake lead them up to an office where raised voices could be heard. A woman's voice was raised the most.
"CAN YOU HEAR YOURSELVES!?"
"Not now, Emily! Just shut up already!" Dorian didn't bother knocking on the door before entering.
"Alpha Blake. Luna Emily. Alpha Victoria. A lot of personal problems I see." Dorian sat down on the couch beside Emily, and William stood behind him. "And how are you, Luna Emily? Long time no see."

"Your Majesty," she bowed her head. "I can't tell you how relieved I am to see you."
"I can imagine."
"Pardon?" Emily furrowed her brows. That wasn't the response she had anticipated.
"I apologize for this uncouth welcome, Your Majesty. Alpha Bruce and I had some business to take care of." Victoria's eyes glazed over, and she looked at the King in surprise.
"Council Warriors are here to speak with you, Majesty. I've received a mind-link from my border patrol."
"Ah, yes." Dorian looked over at Emily. "We've been having troubles, and I need to remain in close contact with them." He focused back on Victoria with an air of ease that troubled her. When had she ever seen him this friendly or open? His eyes still glared, but his voice wasn't stern. "Send them to me."
"Ye-yes. Of course." Victoria mind-linked her guards back and sat down behind her desk. "They'll be here soon. Perhaps, Alpha Blake and Luna Emily should leave so we can get to business?"
"No." Dorian looked over at Drake. "And how have you been?"
"Sir? Are you alright?" Dorian remained focused on Drake. "Fine. I've been fine."
"Fine? That was a lot of drinking. And I heard a lot of yelling. Including a mate shouting at his mate to shut up. Disrespectful. Picking up human habits, Bruce?" A vein in Bruce's forehead popped, but he could do nothing. William smirked.
"The guards are here." Victoria said quietly. She knew. He knew. They all knew. A knock was heard. "Come in." She watched as warriors marched into the room and lined the walls. There were ten of them, and lead by none other than the Second Command of all werewolves - Dorian's Beta Horatio Timmons.
"Horatio, dear friend." Horatio raised an eyebrow, amused.
"Dorian, dear King." Horatio bowed and all the warriors followed suit. "I am here under orders of both you and the Council. A rare day when the two agree on something."
Dorian laughed, smiling evilly at Victoria. "Indeed." There was a beat of silence, and Dorian sighed. "Alpha Victoria Harsh and Alpha Bruce Mann are hereby under arrest on the charges on hiding their procreation from both me and Council, child endangerment, unlawful use of authority, and murder. Arrest them." The Warriors moved quickly, using silver cuffs to restrain the Alphas.
"Hiding procreation isn't a crime!"
"No, but it's just wrong." Dorian yawned and leaned back on the couch. "I would have met my mate, dear Hope, sooner if you hadn't been keeping her in hiding." Victoria gasped and snarled.
"She is not fit to be Queen!"
"Take her away!" Dorian shouted angrily, finally losing his cool. The Warriors quickly took the Alphas away, dragging them down to the SUV's waiting below. They would then be transported to a holding facility until a set date could be set up for a trial. Dorian strode behind Victoria's desk, anger radiating off of him. Horatio watched, still amused. He hadn't seen Dorian this worked up since he took the throne nearly eight years ago. "Alpha Drake, I was going to leave you in charge, but you are clearly not fit to take over the role as Alpha in your condition. Get yourself together. Where are your children? Your Beta?"
"Beta Josh is on leave. He and his mate are honeymooning. My child Gramm is currently with friends. I can call for him-"
"How old?" Dorian snapped.
"Almost seventeen, Sir."
"She didn't wait very long, did she? Send him here." Drake's eyes glazed over, and soon a lanky boy burst into the room.
"Dad, Mom just - Majesty!?"
"Have you received any Alpha training?" Gramm straightened up, his eyes wide, but assuming what would be seen as a military stance.
"Yes, Sir. I've just begun."
"Fight well?"
"I beat Beta Josh last time we fought, Sir."
"Know Hope?"
"Yes, Sir. She's my older sister." Something clicked in his eyes. "Have you found her!? Is she alright!? Was she kidnapped!?"
"Son, your mother is going to prison." Gramm nodded slowly, having seen her being arrested. "She, along with Bruce, was behind Hope's disappearance. I want you to take over Alphaship and the pack until the Council and I come to a decision. Drake will act as advisor. Do you understand me?" Gramm nodded again, his eyes hardening in resolve.
"Yes, Sir. I understand." He placed his fist over his heart and bowed. "I will lead as best I can."
"I know." Dorian looked at Emily. "Are you capable of handling your pack until the Council and I come to a decision?"
She nodded weakly. "Yes, Majesty. I will have my Beta and son as well." Dorian nodded, rapping the desk twice.
"Good." He looked at Horatio. "Let's go get our Queen."

Please note: the Sexual Content tag is there due to a single brief plot-relevant scene, which has a warning at the beginning. For other details, read the full description below. Rating breakdown, since that should be public info: 5 x 5*, 2 x 4.5*, 1 x 0.5* During a blackout, a frail and ragged old woman stops to ask for a glass of water from a backyard barbecue party. Given a good supper instead, she looks around the group, and tells them, "Be who and what you truly are." Days later, seven of the people from the barbecue find themselves drawn into a trap laid by a pair of wizards and their accomplices, who kidnap them into a bubble reality. All seven, who have known each other all their lives, are informed that they are not in fact entirely human: they have active fae blood, due to a series of conditions culminating with the blessing of the elderly fae woman. The transformation into fae form comes as a shock: all seven, whether originally female or male, find themselves now unreasonably beautiful women. More urgent even than that, though, is their captivity. Getting back to the real world is a higher priority than this metamorphosis that rapidly begins to feel natural... but this is only the first step, as the diverse types of fae blood they carry begin to surface. With no resources except themselves, how can they escape this prison? If they succeed, how can they possibly reclaim their lives? Just how many other faelings have been kidnapped, anyway, and what happened to them? And is there a way to make sure that their captors never put anyone else through this? Back in the real world, Kayla, who learned long ago to trust her gut instincts, is absolutely certain that something is very wrong. The pattern in the list of missing friends is easy to spot, but makes no sense at all. Then a young woman turns up at the backyard gate who knows more than she should, and even though her explanation makes even less sense, every instinct tells Kayla that Riley is her only way to get them back. If they're not quite what they were, well, that's a bridge to cross later... Just a little note: I'm a big believer in endings that are upbeat but not candy-coated, and not a fan of grim-and-gritty or of glamorized violence. These are adults in a difficult situation. However, no one gets raped, and the physical violence is, all things considered, fairly minimal. There is some harassment, sexual and otherwise, and also some mild restraint and mild verbal abuse. Complicating factors are generally wizardly or fae in nature. If I need to warn you about gender in this being all over the map, some of it reality-based rather than fantasy-based, highly diverse sexuality, or that there is (especially later) some indirect fetish/BDSM imagery and honest character discussion, then you probably should just avoid everything I write. :-) Also available on Scribble Hub.
