《Jay Halstead x Reader Story/Imagine》(48.1. Overwhelming)

After everything that had happened Jay and I had both waited some time before thinking about the wedding again. But I knew that neither of us could wait for the day.
"Okay so Kim wants us to go with her to look at some venues and we have to start sending our save the dates mails." I told Jay.
"Yes honey." Jay just smiled at me scanning through my list.
"We're obivously inviting everyone from the team and the precinct, the whole of 51, the guys at med, your dad..." I started listing the people I had down.
"My dad?" He asked his smile disappearing.
"Yeah I mean I thought it'd be nice for your father to be at your wedding." I thought that's what Jay would have wanted.
"Do you want your dad your wedding?" He asked and I could see he was getting a little agitated.
"Jay I just thought-" I was trying to calm the situation.
"He hates me, he won't come." He cut me off. Before I could continue conversing with him he had left to the kitchen.
I tried to shake it off and walked out after him, I saw him staring at the Tv with fear in his eyes and I read 'Breaking news: Apartment fire at Roosevelt and Ridgeland' the letters swiped across the screen.
"Jay?" I got his attention.
"That's where my dad lives." He turned to me.
"Let's go." I grabbed both our coats and the car keys and Jay quickly followed after me. I insisted I should drive but he had gotten in the drivers seat and grabbed the keys. I called Hank letting him know.
Once we got there the street was completely crowded, Jay and I were forced to park a couple of blocks away and run the rest of the way there. I noticed 51s and squad 3's trucks were parked among all the others. I ran with Jay expecting him to talk to one of the firefighters outside but instead he ran inside the bulding. "JAY!" I hollered at him as I was stopped by someone from following after him.

"y/n you can't go in there." Mouch had stopped me as he was on his way in.
"Mouch Jay he's-" I was telling him.
"I'll get him out." He nodded and I knew I had to help out here.
"EVERYONE MOVE BACK!" I started trying to control the crowd. It was all already pretty hectic and then we heard an explosion. I was about to run inside when I saw Jay coming out. "Any signs of your dad?" I asked.
He shook his head. "I NEED YOU ALL TO KEEP THE ENTRACE CLEAR! MOVE BACK! ACROSS THE STREET!" Jay started helping with the crowd control.
Jay kept running back and forth trying to find any news about his father and I tried my best to help wherever I could also asking for any information on Pat.
Will and Jay were communicating letting each other know in case they heard anything. I could see the desperation in Jay's eyes. "Please you've gotta tell me if you've seen this guy." I showed the man in the front desk a foto of Pat Jay had sent me.
"Yeah I know the guy, I haven't seen him today."
"Does he have any friends in the building?" Boden was behind me.
"Yeah a guy in a wheel chair lives up in 25C." he told us. I knew that was the floor the fire was the worst in.
"I'll alert the guys." Boden reassured me and Jay came in then. I let him know what i found out and I could see the panic in his eyes as well as the urge he was fighting to run upstairs to get his father.
We waited anxiously for any news from the guys upstairs, I was feeling almost sick with worry not only about Pat but Kelly, Stella, Hermann, Casey and all the guys up there. But I tried my best to keep my emotions in, trying to be strong for Jay right now.

Boden then walked over to us. "...Jay's dad" We heard Casey through the radio.
"What's their condition?" Boden asked so we could both hear.
"They're both contious and responsive but Mr Halstead's in rough shape we need help up here." We heard.
I was relieved to hear he was alive but I knew that the danger wasn't out of the picture yet. I took Jay's hand givikng a tight squeeze. He pulled me in hugging me tightly. "Thank you." he whispered.
"It's not over yet." I didn't want to destroy the moment but I also didn't want Jay getting his hopes up too high.
"I know..." he nodded. "I want my dad at the wedding." He then told me.
I gave him a small smiled. "I know..." '
We had walked out to wait by the ambulances when we saw Casey walking through carrying Pat over his shoulder. "Dad! is he alright?" Jay ran over to Casey asking about his father.
We helped him set Pat down on a stretcher. Jay quickly thanked Casey before telling the nurses about Pat's age, medical history, etc.
"Casey!" I hollered at him before he could run off. "Be careful in there...all of you." I couldn't contain my look of concern.
"Always, we'll text you." He told me before he ran off back inside.
"I'm okay Jay." Pat tried telling his son, but coughing horribly in the process
Jay hopped in the ambulance with his dad. "I'll meet you there." I told him.
"Yeah, I love you." he mouthed.
"I love you too." I mouthed back shutting the ambulance doors and watching it drive off.
I ran back all the way to the car getting in and starting to drive to Med. There was a lot of traffic due to the fire so I was trying my best to take other roads to get there as fast as possible. In the car I shed a few tears noticing I was overwhelmed by everyhthing that had happened and knowing this was my opportunity to feel whatever I needed to before getting back to Jay.
My phone started ringing and I answered it with the speaker on the car. "Hello?" I could hear a ruckus in the backround.
"Hey Bear! It's Stella, she's on her way to med now, she's not looking good, Casey told me you were on your way." He started.
"I'll ask for information Kelly, I'll let you know." I could hear the pain in his voice.
"Alright thanks, we'll be there as soon as we can." he finished before hanging up.
My stress levels were through the roof, I knew that the two most important men in my life were going through hell right now and I needed to keep things together for both of them. I pulled up at Med taking a deep breath before heading in.
"Maggie, Jay have you-" I started.
"He's in the waiting room in the 3rd floor honey" She had a pitiful look in her eyes.
"Have you heard from Stella, Kelly told me she was coming in." I then asked her.
"Room 5, with Dr. Choi." She gestured to the room.
"Thank you." I quickly peaked my head into room 5 seeing Stella looking really bad. Dr. Choi doing everything he could to keep her alive. I stepped in and reached for Stella's hand. "You're not alone Stella, hang on." I spoke to her feeling like there was nothing more I could do.
"I'm sorry y/n but we need you to go." April asked me.
"Of course." I stepped out and headed to the 3rd floor to find Jay.
