《Jay Halstead x Reader Story/Imagine》(44.1. Surprise)

"Jay where are we going?" I asked Jay, a smile tugging at the corner of my eye.
"Today was supposed to go more smoothly but I mean we're detective so what else could we expect." Jay giggled.
"Jay Alexander where are we going!" I was growing increasingly more nervous.
"Here I bought you this." He reached behind my car seat passing me a large box. I opened it to reveal a gorgeous burgundy dress and a separate box with some black heels.
"Oooh is this a surprise date?" I felt like I was falling in love with him all over again.
"Kind of yeah." He giggled
We finally parked and we were in front of a hotel. "Mhm, mysterious." I squinted my eyes as a valet opened my door helping me out.
"Here, I have to go pick something up but I'll be back in like 30-40 minutes be ready." Jay handed me a room key before giving me a kiss and getting back in the car.
I was confused but went along with it walking into the hotel and following the arrows to the room. I unlocked the door and once I walked into the room I saw my toiletries on the bed along with some other things for me to get ready.
The first thing I did was hop in the shower, then I did my make-up, nothing much just my eyebrows, mascara, and some lip gloss, then I got dressed.
I was doing my hair when I heard a knock at my door. I looked through the peephole and saw Jay in a black suit. I opened the door and I put in the last bobby pin into my hair.
"So where are you taking me?" I asked him as he opened the door for me.
"It's a surprise." he winked and I could tell he was nervous.
I started getting nervous as well not knowing what to expect and wondering if I had forgotten our anniversary or some important day. "Jay I'm getting really nervous," I told him.
"Do you trust me?" He held his hand out for me.
"You know I do...more than anyone." I smiled.

"Alright, so you have nothing to worry about...I promise." He wouldn't stop smiling.
We walked outside of the hotel and Jay's car was already waiting for us at the front. The valet opened the door for me and I got in, as did Jay in the driver's seat.
He started driving. "I didn't forget our anniversary did I?" I tried to lighten the mood more for myself.
"No baby this is something else." He placed his hand on my thigh as we stopped at a red light.
"Ok, well I love you," I added just to let him know that in spite of my nervous attitude I still trusted him.
"Good, because I love you too more than you can imagine." I had never seen Jay like this.
He drove forward and just as I looked into his eyes I saw a car light behind him. "JAY! WATCH OUT!" I yelled. Jay turned and he saw what was coming but it was too late, I felt his grip on my thigh tighten.
A truck had hit the car on Jay's side causing us to roll multiple times and finally crash upside down in a ditch. I felt every single moment of the crash, my head hitting every possible side of the car. I was surprised my neck didn't break. My ears were ringing and everything I heard was muffled.
I turned to see Jay, there was a lot of blood dripping out of his head and nose. He was unconscious and I could see his legs were stuck under the wheel which had caved in. "Jay, Baby can you hear me." I reached my hand out lightly shaking him.
"SOMEBODY HELP!" I yelled hoping someone would come to our aid. I looked around for my phone but once I spotted it I knew there was no way I was going to reach it since my seatbelt was stuck and I had nothing to free myself with.
"Jay baby please wake up." I didn't give up on my attempts to wake Jay up. I reached into his pockets trying to find his phone and I did. I pulled his phone out but something else came with it. A small box fell down opening and revealing a ring...an engagement ring.

I couldn't believe this was happening. I finally dialed 911. "Hello this is detective y/f/n, badge number 51155, I need your help, we've been in a car crash and we're down in a ditch, my boyfriend he's injured bad, send an ambulance and the fire department-" I started telling the dispatch. I gave her all the details then I hung up.
I then scrolled through Jay's phone still trying to keep him awake and I was noticing his pulse was getting weaker. I finally clicked on one of the contacts I was looking for. "Hey where are you guys?" I heard Stella's voice.
"Stella we're on the side of the ditch, we crashed and Jay he's not looking good." I started crying, I couldn't hold it in anymore, I was terrified. "We need help Stella please." I cried.
"y/n where are you?" I heard Kelly's voice so I figured Stella had put me on speaker.
"I don't know, we had just left the hotel and I don't think we got even further than 3 blocks but no one's come to help us, and I'm getting so light headed, we're upside down-" I was rambling but I was so scared I didn't know what to say.
"Ok we're on our way, stay on the line with me." I then heard Stella's voice again.
"y/n is Jay bleeding?" I heard Will's voice.
"Yes he's bleeding a lot from his head and his nose, and his leg it's trapped." I told him.
"y/n can you reach his head?" Will asked me.
"No, I-" I tried to keep talking but it was like all of a sudden my brain shut down, I couldn't hold the phone up anymore and I was passing out.
"y/n! y/n!" I heard Stella's voice but I couldn't answer her.

Hermann was driving as fast as he could, I don't know who was in the car anymore I just knew everyone had gotten in a car and were heading in the direction of the hotel.
We made it to a road where we all thought they might be since there was a ditch and we heard sirens but there was so much traffic there was no way we were getting there anytime soon.
Otis got out and hopped on top of the car. "It's the truck! It's sprawled across the road!" He yelled to us.
"We have to get out and run." I advised to the rest of the people in the car.
"Let's go." Kim agreed, we get out of the and signaled to the rest of the group. I saw as Casey, Will, Natalie, Kelly, Gabby, Brett, Cruz, Antonio and Hailey followed behind us.
We saw smoke in the center of the highway and we ran even faster, we finally saw their car deep down in a ditch and people standing around. They were deep down so it was understandable why no one had tried going down but they were our family, we needed to get to them.
As soon as we reached them no one hesitated to slide down the ditch, Kelly and Will got down first. "y/n!" Kelly yelled.
"Jay can you hear me?" Will talked to his brother reaching his hand in the broken window.
"Somoene a knife!" Kelly yelled at us. Antonio pulled out a swiss army knife and Kelly took it using it to cut y/n's seat belt. I ran over to help him carrying y/n's weight so she wouldn't hit the ground hard.
"Ok we got her." Kelly shouted as y/n's seatbelt was released. Kelly, Kim and I pulled y/n out and layed her on the grass away from the car.
"Natalie help y/n... Will you too we'll get your brother out." Cruz told Will.
Natalie ran over to y/n, "Too much blood got to her head, she has a few cuts and bruises but I think she'll be fine." Natalie hollered at us as we tried our best to get Jay out of the car as safely as possible in case he had a spinal injury.
"Wait wait wait." Brett told us to stop for a second. She put her hand up to Jay's neck. "He's got no pulse." Brett told us and we knew we had to get him out now.
