《Jay Halstead x Reader Story/Imagine》(36. Nicole)

Trudyhad offered to drive me to work this morning but I knew I wanted some alone time when driving to work today.
I was almost there when my phone started ringing. I answered it with the speaker in my car. "Hello?"
"Y/n, where are you? " I heard Kim's quivering voice.
I'm rounding the corner." I quickly answered.
"Ok, don't go to the back." By the time she finished, I saw her run down the steps and around my car getting in.
"Drive." She told me and I didn't hesitate to do as told, I could see she was shaken up.
"Kim, what happened?" I asked her.
"My sister...she didn't come home last night and she just called me and she said she's in trouble." I saw her worry increasing.
"Okay, we're gonna find her," I reassured her.
I parked my car and Kim pulled out her phone trying to locate where Nicole's phone pinged. "There!" She pointed at the stairs to the train station.
We both quickly ran there. We walked down and I was looking out for Nicole. "Nicole?!" I heard Kim scream as she ran towards a bench, Nicole laid down across it.
Kim grabbed her sister causing her to jump, frightened before realizing it was Kim. Kim helped her sit up. I looked down between her legs noticing a large bloodstain.
"Nicole, what happened?" I saw Kim tear up.
"II was r*ped." Nicole breathed, visibly shaken.
Ilifted my radio to my lips. "This is 50-21 Trent requesting an ambulance at our location," I called in.
Kim tried comforting my sister and I stepped away to call Hank. "Talk to me," Hank answered.
"We found her, she was laying here at the station alone, she says she's been r*ped and she's losing blood. I called an ambulance and we're headed to med." I quickly updated him.
"Alrightwhenever she's ready to talk see if you can get some information, we'll start an investigation," Hank told me.
"Alright, will do." I hung up.
As soon as I did I saw the paramedics coming down the stairs and the crowd of nosy idiots started gathering.
"Where is she?" The paramedics asked me. Kim waved then over.
"Alright everyone needs to leave the station or get on the train." I spread my arms out trying to control the crowd.
I had insisted Kim stayed with her sister at the hospital but she was determined to get back to the precinct to catch whoever did this to her sister and I understood that.
I drove us back. As soon as we got upstairs the guys walked over to comfort Kim. Jay ignored me as he hit my shoulder walking past me.

I rolled my eyes at his behavior. Kim urged everyone to keep investigating and we knew we wouldn't stop until we found the culprit.
We started by interviewing Nicole's friend that went out with her last night, she gave us information on the bars they visited as well as a creepy man that kept bothering Nicole.
We were trying to find Denise, one of Nicole's friends that went out with her last night and we still hadn't been able to locate her.
—————————
We had a good load of information to sort through when Kim got a text letting her know her sister was awake and ready to talk. Hank asked me to go with her to Med.
When we got there Nicole was still pretty shaken up but she was able to give us a good description of 2 guys she thought were responsible as well as everything else.
We found Denise's body after continuing our search, Kim only growing angrier. Kim and I were headed down to investigate another lead when we saw Nicole's Ex-husband, Jordan enter the building.
Kim grabbed him by the collar and pinned him against the wall angrily talking to him about the P.I he hired to investigate Nicole.
"She's not a saint, look at what she did last night, going out to bars, what kind of mother-" he started talking back.
Cops were coming to de-escalate the situation but I gestured for them to step back. "Get the hell out!" Burgess yelled at him letting him go.
"I'm taking Zoe with me." He argued.
"Zoe is staying with me!" Kim told him firmly.
"And there are 85 other cops in the building that have her back on that." I backed Kim up. I gestured for the cops to get him out.
————————
We finally had the guys and we needed to go undercover. Kim and I got dressed up and once the team was ready we headed to the bar to get started.
Jay and Ruz went in with us preventing the men from approaching any other women but for us. The plan was going according to plan and the guys asked us to leave with them.
"Remember don't drink anything." I heard Hanks voice in my ear as we got into the guys' cars.
Once we got to the house the men asked us to sit with them on a couch while they made is some drinks and they took our phones away. Once the drinks got there I watched as Kim took a sip.
"What are you doing honey! We said we wouldn't drink too much we got work tomorrow!" I tried to act stupid and play it cool.
"Don't worry about it." Kim shrugged it off but this at least alerted the team.

After a couple of minutes of chatting, Kim asked to go to the bathroom, one of the men following after her as I stayed on the couch with the second guy who started shifting closer to me.
After a while, I heard a struggle in the other room. I got up, my face going completely serious. I felt my arm being yanked down.
"BLUEBELL!" I yelled the safe word to alert the tram they had to get in.
I started fighting back the guy but he was able to pin me down my neck and began punching at my face and stomach. I tried to throw kicks and punches but it was no use. It felt like it lasted an eternity before he was pulled off me.
I gasped for breath. "Y/n are you okay?" I saw Erin kneeled beside me as I coughed.
"Call an ambulance," Jay yelled at her as he pinned the guy down who had attacked me. I noticed he had bruises on his eyes and cheek which I assumed to be from Jay.
It took me a while to catch my breath and when the paramedics arrived they thought it best if I got checked out at the hospital. They helped me up from the couch to head to the ambulance, one of my eyes was swollen shut so it was hard to see much.
But I looked up and saw Jay standing in the doorway, looking at me with a look of anger and pain. "I'm okay," I whispered to him as I walked past him and he simply looked down at his feet his nostrils flaring as he took a deep breath.
—————
Back at the hospital Natalie gave me some pain meds and the swelling on my eyed had gone down, luckily I was good enough to go that same day.
"Y/n." Will came into my room as I was getting ready to leave. "Jay told me you were in here."
"Did he?" I was confused as I went over to hug him.
"I had like 15 missed calls from him and like 30 texts asking how you were." He told me.
"Oh." That was all I said.
"I'm sorry about your fight," Will added after he noticed me spacing out.
"Yeah, I am too." I forced a smile.
"Jay was up all night at my apartment, he couldn't sleep." He continued
"Wait what? He stayed at yours last night?" I asked.
"Yeah, I thought you were at your apartment that's why he stayed over." Will looked at me confused.
I wasn't sure what to make of this. "I'm gonna go, Will, I'll see you later." I walked past him now a little curious to talk to Jay.
———————
I drove back to the precinct and headed upstairs hoping Jay hadn't left yet. I thought he was gone before he walked out of the coffee room.
"Hey." I greeted him.
He looked up at me for a second. "You okay?" He continued packing his things up.
"Yes, I am. But you knew that." I started walking towards him.
His eyes caught mine for a second. "What are you doing here?" He asked slightly annoyed.
"Why did you stay at Will's last night?" I ignored his question.
He sighed and finally turned to face me. "You can have your apartment back, I'll find another place." He avoided my eyes.
"What?" I was completely taken aback.
"I'll get my things tomorrow." He still didn't look at me.
"Jay, what are you talking about?" I felt a knot in my throat.
"I can ask for a transfer and-" he continued ignoring me.
"JAY LOOK AT ME!" I yelled at him and his eyes immediately met mine.
"Why are you doing this?" I was crying. "I don't want us to be over."
"Yeah but I do." He was blunt.
"Why? Jay, I love you." I tried to get him to talk to me.
"I can't do this anymore. You know what you're right, we've been in the same spot too many times and this isn't going to work." His eyes watered but his expression remained the same.
I looked at him, pain in my eyes. "Did this not mean anything to you?" I lifted my hand showing him the promise ring.
I saw him stare at it for a second, his jaw clenching. "It's just a stupid ring, it doesn't mean anything."
The pain was worse than when I was getting beat up. "I don't know why you're doing this, but if it's to hurt me then you've done it...because it hurts Jay...it hurts really bad." I cried. He said nothing, I nodded tired of forcing words out of him. "This was completely real to me." I took off my ring and slammed it down on his desk.
"The last thing I ever wanted to do was hurt you," Jay spoke looking down at his feet.
"Well you did, worse than anyone ever has," I told him. I started walking away. "I meant it. I still love you...10,000 round trips to infinity and beyond." He looked up at me at the last words and I saw him holding back tears.
I continued walking down, driving home back to my apartment.
