《Jay Halstead x Reader Story/Imagine》(24. Birthday)
I woke up and Jay wasn't on the bed beside me, I got up and noticed a note on my bedside table.
Got called into work early, didn't wanna wake you, I left you some pancakes in the kitchen. Love you 1000 roundtrips to infinity and beyond. -Jay
I read the note which immediately brought a large smile to my face. That night after the Yates incident...it had kind of stuck and Jay would often tell me how much he loved in cute little ways like these.
I had been so busy catching up on paperwork, helping Trudy with her wedding, recovering, and giving statements that I didn't even realize what day it was until I picked up my phone. It was my birthday.
I laughed to myself thinking about what Trudy might have gotten me this year, her presents always being all over the place. I got up got dressed and got in my car to head to work. I made it up the front steps and saw Trudy fidgeting with something under her desk.
"Hey Honey." She greeted me once she spotted me.
"Hi Mah." I smiled starting to make my way to the stairs.
"Where d'you think you're going? Get over here!" She hollered at me.
I smirked and sighed before turning around and walking back to her. "Yes..." I waited for her to say something.
"Oh whatever I was gonna pretend I forgot but I can't. Happy birthday hon! She walked around the counter and gave me a very tight hug."
"Thanks Mah." I hugged her back.
"Here I got you something, you have to open it now though, I have to see your reaction." She smiled grabbing a box from behind her counter and passing it to me.
"Okay." I set it down and started to open it. I jumped slightly when I saw a furry grey thing inside. Trudy started laughing.
"Isn't that just hilarious, Mouch and I found it at the market." Trudy laughed to herself.
"An office possum?" I smiled trying not to show her how horrified I was.
"Yeah, you can hang it on your desk upstairs, it'll just get everyone's attention." She hadn't stopped laughing.
"I'm sure it will...Thanks, Mah." I laughed now myself.
I looked in the box again and there was a smaller, flat box inside, I pulled it out and at the top it said 'Maid of Honor' I looked up at Trudy shocked.

"Mouch and I...We would be honored if you would be our maid of honor." Trudy wasn't laughing anymore but smiling and I could tell she was trying not to tear up. "That's for you to wear on our wedding day." She pointed at the small box in my hand.
I gasped slightly at the beautiful necklace I was seeing. "I would love to be your maid of honor." I answered Trudy trying not to tear up myself. "This is beautiful." I looked down at the necklace.
"It was your mother's, she lend it to me one night when I was going on a date, when I tried to give it back to her she told me to keep it, maybe one day I would wear it when I found the right guy," Trudy explained.
"Why are you giving it to me then?" I asked her.
"Because I did, I found the right guy. Maybe it'll help you too, I know you're head over heels for that Detective Chukles you call a boyfriend. Well if he's smart enough maybe one day he'll ask you to marry him and you can have a piece of your mother with you that day." Trudy told me.
I sniffed trying to fight back the tears. "Ok, I'm gonna go before I start balling my eyes out. Thank you Mah, this is the best gift ever." I told her before walking upstairs.
On my way up I noticed it was relatively quiet. I furrowed my brow suspicious of the guys but once I made it upstairs I yelped once they all jumped out from behind their desks yelling Happy Birthday at me.
Adam started laughing at how they scared me while Antonio, Keving, Mouse, Al, and Erin all came to hug me, congratulating me.
Adam then walked over to me, I punched him lightly on the chest before giving him a hug. Lastly, I walked over to Jay who was waiting for me with open arms.
"Happy Birthday babe." He hugged me and kissed my head. "I'll give you your present tonight." He winked.
"Thanks." I gave him a quick kiss before turning to everyone else. "Thank you guys, I think I've never been more awake." I laughed with everyone else.
I noticed Hank wasn't in his office, Adam quickly explained to me what Burgess and Roman had found and what we were investigating right now.

Jay and I were about to head out to follow a lead when I heard Mouse calling him from the downstairs office, a woman in there with him.
"Give me a second." Jay said walking over to them.
I waited furrowing my brows trying to figure out what this was. They shut the door and Jay started discussing something with the woman. Just before she left she handed Jay something, stopping right in front of him, I watched as Jay took a step back. He opened the door for her and let her out.
"Call me." She said before walking out.
Jay started walking towards me. "Call me?" I smirked, a tinge of jealousy in my tone as I turned to continue walking to the car.
"It's not like that, I told Mouse I was looking to earn some extra cash and he hooked me up with her-" He started explaining. I turned to face him my eyebrows raise but I was still smirking. "Ok not the best choice of words." He laughed while we both opened the car door to get in. "She has a business and needs some security so I'm gonna take the job." He finished and we were already driving.
"And why d'you need the extra cash? You know I can help you with anything you need Jay." I told him.
"No, don't worry about it. This is for something else." he told me quickly changing the subject. "So d'you wanna go to Molly's tonight? Or stay home?" He asked me.
I didn't wanna push it so I let it go. "Uhmm, we can go to Molly's for a bit and then spend some time alone at home." I told him.
"Sounds good." He smiled continuing to make conversation until we got to the destination.
______
The case was pretty straight forward and after only a few mishaps we were able to leave the office at a good time to head to Molly's.
Once we made it there Hermann had made a sign, hanging at the bar that read. 'Happy Birthday y/n, from all the ER service guys.' I laughed at the sign hugging and greeting a few people as I made my way inside.
Kelly walked over to me giving me a kiss on the cheek before handing me a small bag. "This is for you." He whispered.
"Thank you." I tried to tell him over the loud music. Jay and I walked over to a table with some of the guys from Fire. I opened Kelly's present pulling out a small brown leather box.
I smiled at the bracelet, a bear silhouette on it. I saw him looking from the opposite side of the bear. 'I love it' I mouthed to him ' Thank you'. He raised his beer up and I did the same.
Jay and I stayed at Molly's for a while, trying not to drink too much because we had work tomorrow. We said our goodbyes and after several attempts to leave we finally got home.
I plopped on the couch sighing. Jay walked over. "Can I give you your present now?" Jay smirked.
I sat up. "Of course you can."
"Ok, before I give this to you I need to explain a little." He sat down next to me. "I know we've only been dating for a year and it's too early for us and we're not ready, but I need you to know I've never been more serious about being with someone before." Jay started.
I felt butterflies in my stomach not really knowing what to expect. "Jay..." I said his name elongating the last two letters a little indicating my nerves.
"I got you a promise ring, that goes with mine." He lifted up his hand showing me a thin gold ring on his index finger.
I looked at the ring in awe "Jay!" I said his name clearly this time.
"I know it's not much, but that's why I had to pick up the extra job." He explained.
"You really didn't have to. But I love it." I stared at it on my finger. I leaned forward crashing my lips into his. "I hate that I won't have you every day after work now," I said once I pulled away from the kiss resting my forehead against his.
"No, but you'll have me for the rest of your life after that," he smirked.
"I love you 2000 round trips to infinity and beyond," I said this time earning a laugh from him.
"D'you wanna go to the bedroom birthday girl?" He smirked sliding his hands under my butt and lifting me up.
"Yes please." I put my arms around his neck giving him a kiss and letting him take us to bed.

Series – Dice rolls, quests, and intriguing characters are only the tip of the spear. The Adventurer series includes playable game mechanics, maps, and more! Thrust into a world governed by tabletop RPG rules, Cire must survive an onslaught of wondrous and horrific challenges. His peculiar race, charismatic personality, and talent for turning negative situations sideways might just be the tools he needs to achieve his goals, or they may lead to his ruin. Adventurer Book II - Dawn of an Empire Short story prequel- The Lurking Lair: An Adventuer Series Short Story Summary for the LitRPG savvy reader: Looking for a LitRPG that is more tabletop traditional role playing game and less MMORPG? This is probably your cup of tea. Long term progression with a heavy slice of life element. Strong mix and inclusion of ancient Greek life, values, and myths. Hence, the world can be a bit more harsh and brutish than modern sensibilities. The system is tangible and knowable beyond the MC's insights. The MC is more of an everyman than someone specifically chosen for the experience. Author's Note: This is my debut novel. Up until this point, the only thing I have written of comparable length has been non-fiction and related to history. I am immensely grateful to all the folks who have given me feedback and helped me improve my writing.

Triquetra: A Multi-Class Isekai or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Accept the End of the Multiverse
Triquetra: An Multi-Class Isekei Adventure I know, I know, you have heard it all before. Yes I was hit by a truck. Yes I ended up in a Fantastical World suspiciously similar to one of my favorite RPG’s. Yes I had access to cheats no one else possessed. Yes it was a world of classes and levels and magic powers. Finally, yes I was an overweight middle-aged loser failing to live up to my potential. Given my eclectic reading habits I should have been better prepared. Unfortunately I was not. Sure I could multi-class with reduced penalties, but my starting class was Scholar! No combat abilities and very limited spellcasting. My HUD interface costs mana to use, and my universal translation seemed to be outsourced to Giggle Translate. I’m supposed to be an OP MC! Not a slice-o- life struggling to survive in the wilderness. Not to mention the Arch-Magus who summoned me, mistimed everything, I arrived 300 years too late, after the fall of the Empire I was supposed to save. The surviving remnants have devolved into Murder Hobos. What’s worse is that the Great Devourer, Ancient Calamity, and Spawn from the Void Beyond Time, Space, and Sanity is now aware of a new world to plunder, a world called Dirt! (Told you this translator sucks) Warning Extra Crunchy Authorial Vebosity! Lots of infodump in the early chapters, but I learn my lesson and it does get better, eventually. I do not own the Cover image, found it on a free image site.

Dark Matter
In the year 2023, scientists investigating the nature of dark matter caused a blackout throughout the entire world of Coranth. With this blackout came the appearance of supernatural and near-magical elemental abilities able to be wielded by all. By harnessing the dark matter in the environment, even ordinary humans now accessed powers that would have been deemed fantasy. These abilities include Wind, Fire, Lightning, Water, and Terra, being the five natural elements of which dark matter is absorbed by the planet itself. Additionally, the two moons orbiting Coranth offer the "Superior" elements of Dark and Light. The year is now 2041, and Dark Matter will follow the story of an adolescent boy named Raiden Sullivan in a dystopian future, 16 years old, eldest of 2, and son to Marcus Sullivan. Raiden is an intelligent young man belonging to a poor family with an absentee mother. He partakes in daily chores to cover living expenses after school and his home life is surrounded by his caring father and younger sister. In truth, this is my take on urban fantasy with slight LitRPG that keeps the "magic" elements somewhat scientific for a more realistic story. In using the dark matter surrounding our universe, humans can now harness elemental abilities as well as absorb dark matter from the beasts/monsters to further strengthen their abilities. For the most part, that'll be the main premise of the power system. Full transparency, this will be the first story I write and also the first story I publish, so please be patient with me. For some context, I'm an avid reader and after 4 or so years of only consuming, I feel that it might be time to try my hand at writing instead. Please feel free to add your opinions and criticism, it would be much appreciated. With that said, I hope you enjoy Dark Matter!
