《Jay Halstead x Reader Story/Imagine》(9. Taser certification)

Jay had been really distant since the Gish incident. I didn't mind that he no longer was trying to lead me on the way he always had, but I also missed the banter between us, the way we would poke fun at each other and make work just a little less tense. On the other hand, Kelly and I had never been closer, spending so much time together we basically lived at each other's places, I had earned a new nickname from him, 'Bear' since he liked to tell me I was like his carebear.
"You all have taser certification today, not optional," Voight told everyone before going to his office and closing the door.
"I hate taser training," I spoke to Adam behind me at his desk.
"Yeah." He laughed. I turned and saw Jay and Erin giggling away at her desk.
"Antonio! Would you ever live in northern Wisconsin?" Erin asked him as he walked into the office.
I sighed annoyed and turned back to Adam so as not to hear their conversation.
I saw Adam pick up his phone. "Hey Darling it's me calling, so it's extremely slow here today, let's do that early lunch you were talking about, say the word, I'll meet you wherever." I raised my eyebrows up and down at him.
"What?" He asked me.
"You're so in love." I faked a swoon.
"Shut up. How about you and Severide huh?" He kicked my chair lightly causing me to roll back a little.
"We're friends that's all!" I clarified earing an unconvinced look from him.
As Adam said, it was a slow day at work, we didn't have an urgent case to pursue so we were all at our desks doing paperwork when the guy for the taser certification arrived.
"Everyone, give a warm intelligence welcome to Dan Jenkins, he's here to school us in the fine art of taser certification," Hank spoke as he walked up the stairs with Jenkins.
Everyone was told to gather around a foam mat for an explanation.
I went over to the front of my desk and sat down, Jay walked over and sat next to me, leaving little to no space between us.

My phone buzzed on my desk and Jay picked it up. I saw him glance at the text and let out a barely audible huff before handing it to me. I read the text
❤️🔥 Hey Bear, wanna get lunch today?
I smiled as I looked down at my phone.
I'd love to, I have taser certification, not sure when I'll be done but I'll text you💖
Adam was chosen as a volunteer as continued explaining. "You wanna make contact with the torso, which is Shoulders, Pelvis, Abdomen, and Groin. S.P.A.G" He pointed at the spots on Adam's body.
"C, mon just get on with it alright" Adam started rushing Jenkins. His impatience growing thinner and thinner.
Soon enough Jenkins pressed the taser onto Adam's abdomen causing him to scream and collapse. I started laughing loudly next to Jay.
"Oh my god, I wish I had recorded that." I continued laughing.
"That was worth the price of admission." Jay continued laughing next to me.
"You're next." Jenkins picked on Jay.
"Wait no!"His smile disappeared looking around the room for support "How about BEAR over here? " Jay turned to look at me for a few seconds before turning away.
I huffed at his attitude. "I can tase him." I quickly said causing Jay to turn to look at me surprised.
Jay got really nervous as he walked up. "Ok, this doesn't seem like, official enough." Jay babbled.
"Close your eyes, let it be a surprise." I winked at him.
"Please do S." He said nervously.
"G!" Everyone screamed around us.
"Don't you dare!" He was super serious.
I faked heading for the groin but in the last second, I tased his lower abdomen. He still groaned loudly and collapsed forward, grabbing my waist for support. I laughed quietly.
"Read my texts again and I'll aim for G, and this time I won't miss," I whispered so only he could hear.
He groaned. "Oh yeah? well, you're next." He got up holding the spot I tased.
"What?" I started getting nervous.
"That's right Hun, you need to do it too." Jenkins shrugged.

"I have a recent injury, I'm not sure that's the best idea, maybe I should call my doctor." I started walking away.
"No no no no." Adam and Jay spoke grabbing my arm to pull me back to the mat.
"So what's it for you? S.P.A... or G." Jay looked me up and down holding the taser.
"You know what....you decide." I looked him seriously into his eyes. "C, mon, where d'you wanna hurt me the most?"
His smile dropped slightly before he took the taser and pressed it to my shoulder. I twitched a little but it wasn't enough for me to fall over, just groan a little in pain.
A couple of disappointed sighs were heard around us and Jay simply shrugged before looking me in the eyes again and giving me a faint smile. "I don't ever wanna hurt you." He said under his breath before walking away.
I brought a hand up to my shoulder where I had been tased before walking over to sit next to Adam. I saw he was on his phone again and looking really worried.
"What's wrong?" I placed a hand on his arm.
He bit his lip and just looked at me for a second before answering. "It's Kim, she hasn't answered any of my texts and I'm getting worried. I texted Sean and he hasn't answered either." I could tell this was really bothering him.
"Ok, I'll text Trudy and ask her if she's heard from them," I said as I took out my phone to text her. A couple of seconds later she replied telling me they weren't answering on the radio and giving me their last known location.
I took a deep breath before telling Adam. I walked up to him and placed a hand on his back. "Hey, Trudy texted me back, Neither Kim nor Sean are answering on the radio, I have their last known location," I told him and I saw, even more, worry flood his face, I could tell he was holding back tears.
He turned and walked to Voight's office, I watched and a couple of seconds later Voight waved me over. I walked in. "You have their last known?" He asked me.
"I do," I confirmed.
"Alright, let's rollout, text everyone the location," Voight instructed me.
"Yes, Sarge." I walked out of the office while texting everyone the location and also texting Kelly that I wouldn't be able to make it to lunch.
I drove Adam and me to the location not saying much but a few words here and there to try to alleviate his worry. Once we got there we all quickly started to suit up. I was putting on my belt when Jay came up to me. He handed me my vest. "May I?" He asked me.
"Sure." I nodded and he started adjusting the vest around me.
"Sorry about the text." He apologized once he was behind me.
I turned to face him. "You know Jay I don't get you. You get mad at me for hanging out with Kelly, despite me telling you there is nothing between us, but I don't ever see you asking me out on a date."
He just stared at me. I shook my head lightly before heading to where the rest of the team was.
We heard gunshots and screaming inside. Antonio and Kev opened the garage door and the whole team walked in, guns drawn, to find Sean and Kim hiding from a guy holding a gun.
After knowing the rest of the team had the guy I ran over to Sean and tried to inspect his wound past all the blood. "This is 50-21 Trent requesting an ambulance, we've got an officer with a head injury," I called into my radio.
I watched Adam's whole body relax as he held Kim against his chest. A wave of relief flooding over him. Deep down I wished someone would feel the same way for me. I turned to look at Jay, He was handcuffing the guy, his usual serious expression, it frustrated me that I couldn't just shake this feeling off.

Sara's (not really) Fabulous System Armageddon, Book I: The World Ended at Rush Hour
Planet Earth, Monday, October 7th, 2019. 18:30 * * On a fateful day, during rush hour in eastern North America, Heavens and Hell crumbled and fell from their higher dimension on Earth. It came from "above" but not the same above we regard in our tridimensional Euclidean reasoning. No, it came from "above" as in from a higher dimension. Bits and pieces of those places fell on Earth from all directions, this time in tridimensional Euclidean space. Satellites, the ISS, and space debris all were wiped clean from orbit. Even those that didn't crash with the falling debris were knocked off orbit by the shockwaves. On the ground, power distribution lines were disrupted and most power facilities were left abandoned by their dead staff. Most of these had emergency shutdown routines that engaged in a few days. Some others had a survivor among their staff that followed protocol and activated their SCRAM switches, stopping the power plant. Long-distance communication disappeared the internet along with it. The world was plunged into technological darkness. Nine hundred and ninety-nine out of every thousand human beings perished immediately in the pulse of magical energy from the torn spatial boundary. Spirits were rent asunder and vanished, their fate neither salvation nor damnation, only oblivion. The criteria used for this culling was latent magic potential. It didn't discriminate against education, gender, age, or ethnic group. But of the around seven million survivors, most would meet their doom moments later. Those on moving vehicles, like the ones driving on highways suddenly had to contend with high-speed uncontrolled cars and trucks driven by corpses. Trapped in their vehicles and helpless, they became part of the long snake of crushed metal. Very few survived. Those in the air or out in the sea were alone and probably unable to control their rides. Airplanes crashed, and ships kept their course or drifted away, depending on their autopilot. Several ended their own lives in utter despair after seeing their loved ones die in front of them. Another large group would die at the hands of other survivors. Violence and aggression became the norm. Only a few sparse pockets of not-so-sane survivors managed to band together and cooperate for the sake of mutual survival. The sole survivor in a five-over-one apartment building in Georgia, a girl became the keystone to humanity's survival. Sara's fabulous System Apocalypse had just started. She has only one remark. It was anything but fabulous. * * Updates every Wednesday and Sunday. There are many such paths, known as Dao, but they all feature Shards! A beast which cultivates to the level of forming a shard is called a Magical Beast. A human or other being that does is known as a Mystic. A shard may be a Mage Shard, allowing one to use mana to attack with the elements and produce fantastical, reality bending spells.
