《Jay Halstead x Reader Story/Imagine》(6. 1,2,3...)

Burgess was still at the hospital in critical condition, she hadn't woken up yet and I could tell Adam was on the verge of a breakdown. He wasn't the kind of guy to express his feelings, not even to the closest of his friends but he was also the kind of guy that you could easily tell when he was upset, worried or when something was bothering him in general.
Although we all had Kim in the back of our minds and we had all taken our turns visiting her, we knew that we needed to solve this case and find out who did this to her. After finding the lead on Travis everyone was chasing after whatever other lead they could find.
Roman was working with us in this case which was causing a lot of tension between Adam and him. I knew Adam didn't actually blame Roman for what happened to Kim but he was so blinded by his worry and anger that he found no one else to take it out on other than Sean. I found myself trying to keep things sensible between them multiple times.
Adam, Jay, Sean, and I were then called to investigate a house. Jay and I took out our guns as we slowly and carefully made our way up the steps. My heart jumped when a car alarm started blaring all of sudden.
"I'll check it out," Adam told us, putting his gun away and walking to the car.
In the meantime, Jay noticed a loose step and lifted it up to reveal a trigger.
"Ruzek no!" Sean shouted as Adam was about to lift the trunk of the car.
*BOOM!*
An explosion at the top of the building made Jay, Sean, Adam and I get down and cover ourselves from the glass shards that were falling down on us. I lifted my head up and it seemed like everyone was alright except for a few small cuts here and there.
"Y/n, you ok?" Jay helped me up and brought his hands up to my cheeks to inspect my face.
"I'm fine, you?" I asked him and he nodded.
Adam ran up to me. "y/n are you alright?" I could tell he was really worried. I only imagined what went through his mind, thinking of losing me and Kim.
"I'm ok Ruz," I reassured him.
Jay and I wiped ourselves off as Sean and Adam once more started arguing, except this time it went a little further. They started shoving each other.
"HEY HEY HEY!" I placed myself between them "STOP!" I put my hands up at them both but Adam tried charging at Sean again causing me to get pushed to the side and onto a parked car.

I huffed as the air was knocked out of me.
Jay grabbed me so I wouldn't slide down before breaking them both apart. "Quit it! Now! This isn't helping anyone." He screamed at them both and I could tell he was really annoyed. "Look at what you did." He pointed at me with my hand on my stomach catching my breath.
"I'm sorry y/n." Adam tried to approach me but I put my hand of to stop him.

The investigation continued until we figured out who was behind all of this. We now knew Spencer was holding Webber's wife somewhere and we needed to figure out where fast. After finally being able to get it out of Spencer we all rolled up to the building where she was in.
Jay, Voight, Sean, and I all went in quietly and carefully knowing that this house was probably filled with booby traps everywhere. And just as we suspected once we found Mrs.Webber Voight set off a trap that blared really loud music in the building.
Jay had reached for my hand as it happened and I knew the sudden noise probably stopped all of our hearts for a split second.
"Careful, watch where you step and watch your heads. Anything could be a trap." I whispered after all of us realized that trap was simply made to scare us.
Voight called for everyone outside to stay where they were and not to come in.
"He taped something to my back!." Mrs. Webber kept crying.
Jay and I moved carefully behind her, there were light beams surrounding her. She had a device on her back that was counting down and we only had about 2 minutes.
"I think I set it off Sarge when I called the number," Jay spoke and I could tell he was punishing himself for it.
Voight called for the bomb experts downstairs and we let them know what we could see.
"Ok, can you defuse it, Jay?" Voight asked him.
"Yes." Jay nodded after a couple of seconds.
We now had 1 minute left.
"Ready?" I asked him lifting my hand up to swipe it over the beam.
He nodded again. "1,2,3." I counted and my breath hitched as I pushed my hand forward.
Mrs. Webber kept screaming and It wasn't her fault, she was terrified we were all about to blow up in pieces. Sean and Hank tried calming her down but it was no use, her life was in our hands.
"I just have to pull these cables out," Jay whispered.

"Ok, do it carefully," I whispered back.
We had 20 seconds left, I wanted to tell Jay to hurry up but I knew that this needed to be done precisely and carefully.
He grabbed the cables and just before he started to pull them out he turned to look at me. I nodded once more. "You got this," I whispered reassuring him although I was terrified.
He pulled the cables out and just with 5 seconds left before the explosion the timer stopped.
We were safe.
I felt myself let out a huge breath that I didn't even realize I was holding in before moving forward and untying Mrs.Webber from the chair, taking off my jacket, and placing it over her.
"Ok guys, watch your step on your way out, there could be more traps," Voight told us all before walking away with Sean.
Mrs. Webber got up after I untied her and she turned and hugged me, I hugged her back and I held her as we walked downstairs and outside. I then handed her over to the paramedics to get her checked out.
I stood by the road just breathing in and out taking in what had just happened when I heard someone come up behind me.
"You alright?" Jay asked me once he was standing beside me.
"Yeah, just shaking it off. That was crazy, I don't know how you did it back when you served." I shivered a little.
"Did you trust me in there?" Jay asked me taking off his jacket.
I turned to face him and looked straight into his blue eyes. "I trusted you, I always do, I just didn't trust Spencer," I told him as he placed his jacket around me.
He looked down and nodded, a smile on his face.
"Hey, wanna go to Molly's after we do all the paperwork?" He asked me.
"Yes please." I laughed as he put his arm around me and we walked back to the rest of the team.
I decided to drive back with Adam. "Here, you drive, I'm still shaking." I tossed the keys to him.
"I think that's the craziest thing I've done so far," I told Adam once we were driving.
"Yeah, that was pretty terrifying, but it's what we signed up for isn't it?" He turned to look at me with a smile.
"Hell yeah!" I lifted my hand up to high-five him. Thinking about how far we both had come.
___
Once we were at Molly's Jay and I sat at the bar, Hermann brought us 2 beers.
"Thanks, Hermann." I shot him a smile.
"Of course, sweetheart." He smiled back.
"Hey, we've worked together for what? like 1 year now?" Jay asked me.
I thought about it for a second. "Yeah a little more, why?"
"Well, I don't know much about you. So what's your story?" He smirked.
"My story?" I laughed.
"Yeah, like do you have any siblings? parents? where d'you grow up? How d'you get into the unit? I mean everyone around here seems to know you so what's your story?" He asked me.
I laughed quietly. "Well, I don't have any siblings that I know of, my mom died on a case and Trudy is basically my mom, My dad was never in the picture but I never really wanted to look for him either. If he doesn't think I'm worth meeting then that's on him." I shrugged.
He had a serious look in his eyes. "His loss, you're amazing." He didn't break eye contact.
A small smile crept on my face before I continued talking, not knowing what to answer "I grew up here in Chicago, Trudy still worked so sometimes Hank and Camille, or Alvin or sometimes Hermann looked after me, sometimes I just stayed in the district with Adam. I always knew I wanted to be a detective, I mean that's all I knew growing up, it just made sense." I looked at him again and smiled. "So that's my story. What's yours?"
He playfully rolled his eyes. "Maybe another time."
"Oh c, mon, what's Jay Halstead afraid I find out about?" I teased him.
"I like the image you have of me now...I don't wanna ruin that." He pulled his stool closer to me and now my legs were in between his.
"No matter what you tell me my image of you could never be ruined," I spoke softly looking up into his eyes.
He was about to speak when the rest of the guys walked in and called us over to a bigger table. Jay quickly got up and grabbed his beer-making his way over. I let out a frustrated sigh before following him.

Knight’s Fate: Knight and Princess
When war finally ended, the Arcadians sought retribution from the nightmares they had suffered from demonkind. A noble Princess had taken her mother's mantle in order to uphold peace between the two races so humanity could co-exist with their fellow demons in a kingdom without strife, but war paved the road to peace in blood and such path is but a fragile thread awaiting to be ignited by the flames of hatred. Another great war awaits, but will she be able to avert it?Second iteration of the Knight's Fate saga chronologically speaking. Yes I'm starting from the second because the first was an utter failure when I tried to write it, it just didn't fit the mood of a fantasy novel unlike this one. Though don't worry this doesn't mean you can't enjoy this one before I write the first. This is the first story I've actually published so I appreciate any feedback, be it good or bad just let me know what you think.
