《Jay Halstead x Reader Story/Imagine》(2. Lonnie Rodiger)

Ever since we had rescued Diego things were pretty tense here in the district. Everyone was a little more serious and we weren't joking around as much while everything calmed down but I also noticed Trudy was pretty nervous while we were trying to catch Pulpo. I knew she worried about me all the time but I knew cases like these kept her up at night.
When I didn't have to be at the district I'd try to go out to a coffee shop, and when I was off shift I tried to help Hermann, Otis, and Gabby at Molly's and it was good for the extra bit of money.
I was headed to a coffee shop when I got a call from Trudy. "Hey what's up?" I asked as I picked up.
"Hi honey if you have time can you come to the district, Herman asked me to drop something off at the firehouse and all my patrolmen are out"
"Sure, don't worry about it, I'll be there in 5." I hung up.
I walked into the district and I saw Commander Perry heading up to intelligence. I walked up to Trudy. "Did I miss something or what's he doing here?"
She sighed "Halstead's in trouble, you know the whole Lonnie Rodiger thing?." I nodded "He was found dead last night." She explained.
"What? they think he did it?" I was about to run upstairs but I saw Jay was storming down.
She reached below her desk and grabbed a box. "Here I need you to take this to Firehouse 51, hand it to Herman." I took it and as I turned to catch up with Jay who was now storming down the front steps.
"Hey hey hey, are you ok? D'you need a ride?" I asked him knowing not to ask him about what just happened.

"No, leave me alone y/n." He replied breathlessly.
"Hey, you can talk to me you know? You obviously didn't do anything, everything's gonna sort itself out." I tried to calm him down.
He turned around and stepped in front of me." Oh yeah? Is it y/n? Do you know that for sure?" He yelled. "I got my badge stripped! I could go to jail and no one can do anything about that! You don't know what you're talking about so why don't you just stay the hell away from me!?"
I was completely taken aback, he had never talked to me this way. "Fine, I was only trying to help," I replied in a low whisper turning around and walking to my car. "You know not everyone's gonna stick around if you keep pushing them away?" I told him after opening my car door.
He rubbed his hand over his face and sighed. "y/n wait!" He started walking towards me.
"No Jay, I got it. I'll stay the hell away from you trust me." I shut my door and drove away.
I opted for staying at the firehouse, if Hank needed me he would call, I asked Peter if I could help him cook and that helped me keep my mind off things. After my shift ended I decided to drive Shay and me to Molly's.
"No case today?" Shay asked me as I started driving.
I sighed. "Kind off but they didn't need me and Jay blew up at me," I confessed.
"Wait why?" She asked me.
I turned to her a little surprised. "Oh, well he's in a tight spot right now, suspect in a murder, badge stripped, and I tried to be supportive but he told me to stay the hell away from him so..."

"What a d*ck." Shay replied.
"Right? So I told him I would and I didn't wanna see him again at the district so I thought I'd stay with you guys."
"What if he shows up at Molly's?" Shay asked.
"Damn, I didn't think about that... I guess I'll just ignore him." we both laughed.
_____
I'd been serving drinks for about 2 hours before Herman told me to take a break. I sat with Kelly, Peter, Shay, and Gabby. We were chatting when Shay nudged me and I saw Jay had come in.
He spotted me and started making his way towards us trying to push his way through the crowd. "Sh*t Sh*t Sh*t what do I do? I don't want to talk to him." I ushered Shay.
"Uhmm." Shay panicked too. "Kiss Kelly!" Shay shouted.
"Wait what?" I just stared at her confused.
"Trust me, if he sees you busy kissing another guy he won't come over here." Shay insisted.
"Yeah, that's true." I nodded.
"Kelly kiss y/n now!" She patted his arm multiple times.
"Ok." Kelly gladly agreed.
He placed his hand behind my neck and pulled me towards him. We started kissing, and then it turned into a more heated make-out.
"I think that's enough guys." Shay laughed.
I cleared my throat awkwardly after we broke the kiss. "Did he leave?" I asked looking around.
"Yeah, he seemed pretty upset too when he noticed what you were doing," Shay smirked.
I rolled my eyes at her. "Thank's for that." I thanked Kelly before heading back to the bar to continue working.
I was preparing a Negroni when Kelly walked up to the bar. "Another beer?" I asked him.
"Actually I was here to ask you out?" He looked at me with the typical Severide smirk.
"What?" I was taken aback.
"I mean we kissed already so might as well." He didn't lose the smirk.
"I mean you make a good point." I laughed. "What d'you want to do then Kelly?"
"I don't know, maybe we could go get dinner someday."
I nodded. "Sounds good to me, you have my number, text me." I winked at him before heading to the opposite side of the bar to tend to another customer.

It was after World War Two ended; rumors spread of people wielding amazing powers or mutating into horrifying monsters. Seventy years later, heroes and villains dominate the news and battle in the streets, discrimination drives mutants into the criminal lifestyle, and the governments of the world are struggling to handle the rapidly shifting paradigm. Maxmillian Grants, like any sixteen year old boy, wants to be a hero and he has a secret: he has the power to do it! Except, when he actually looks into the risks and the rewards he discovers that being a hero is not really worth it. Being a villain, on the other hand, certainly pays well. If you don't mind risking being sent to prison and being hunted by heroes and other villains. Max, not being an idiot, does mind both of those things. Instead of being a hero or being a villain, Max decides to take the third option, to be a vigilante! His plan? To hit the criminals in the gut and run off with their money, making the world a bit brighter at the same time by taking down the bad guys. But how long can he actually manage alone? Can he really navigate through the dangerous world of supers and capes without declaring for either heroes or villains? Or will he be sucked into the web of plots and drama that is the life of those with superpowers? (Cover photo by Sebastiaan Stam, downloaded from Unsplash)

8 188The Ingress Estate
Jonathon Eucole. Soldier. Scholar. Now an Initiate, the dedication without dedication, he finds himself both prisoner and master of an arcane edifice, the Ingress Estate, which can neither be escaped, nor controlled; only diverted, maintained, and pacified. This is a gothic fantasy story, set in a world in which gods and the afterlife are not only real and known, but were both established in living memory of some of the inhabitants after millennia of arcane warfare with the being who constructed the mundane reality the humans occupy. But this isn't the story of those who colonized the afterlife at the cost of their own humanity, but a somewhat more ordinary man, in somewhat extraordinary circumstances. This is also a LitRPG-lite, which means there's a system of sorts, fragments of which can be observed through Jonathon's eyes. Don't expect level-up screens, or statistics, or indeed numbers much at all, beyond those the inhabitants of the world itself apply to understanding their own reality. It pretty much doesn't matter to the story, I mention it so those who don't want to read LitRPG at all can successfully avoid it here. I don't have any particular plan here, just some ideas inherent in the genre. This is a character concept I toyed with some years ago; an old man, bright of mind but weighed down into apathy, both by his past and his responsibilities for a terrible estate that cannot be left without stewardship. Don't expect any kind of overarching plot or story, because that's really not what this is about. Also don't expect much dialogue. Or character development. Or much of anything, really, because I've planned nothing in the way of an actual book, here. Other relevant information, if you've read this far for some reason: The MC isn't super-powerful to begin with, and probably never will be. He's a veteran with some useful skills, and the insight on how to use them, so can deal with the world's ordinary threats reasonably well, but not too much beyond that. --- Currently on hiatus, as currently the story has a rather poor ratio of effort-to-personal-payoff. I may return to this once I have a clear idea of how to get the stories where I want them. I've started a more standard LitRPG using the same system. But if you like intelligence characters who cleverly min-max their classes, it probably isn't the story for you; it's the story of a rather ordinary guy who winds up in a very similar universe.
