《Everything Inbetween Bones [BxB] ✓》Chapter 49

Logan woke up cold, his fingers grasping the thin blanket. He glanced down at his arms that were wrapped in bandage up to his elbow, there was also an IV in one of his arms connect to a bag with some kind of fluids. There was also another bag behind his head filled with someone else's blood and he didn't know how he felt about that, he wondered whose blood it was, how they felt about it being used for Logan that didn't want it all that much anyway. He recalled the fear of the night before, how scared he'd been to die, maybe he still didn't want to, he wasn't sure anymore. He didn't want to live, but he was scared of dying, it was a terrible sort of trapped that he felt then, he wondered if maybe he really had died and this was limbo.

"Logan, hey, how are you feeling?" He looked up to see Oliver and forced a smile. He still felt uneasy about what Jace had said the other day, he was still mad at Oliver, he couldn't trust him, though he couldn't tell him that. The last thing you should do if you don't trust someone is tell them you don't trust them, Logan wouldn't have the edge then, he'd forfeit the higher ground and he couldn't do that for someone he didn't trust. He probably wants you sent away as much as your dads do. Oh yeah, also that bullshit that he had to deal with. The average length of stay for a patient with anorexia was found to be 11.8 weeks, Longer length of stay was associated with lower admission BMI...It is not uncommon for daily caloric needs of a recovering anorexic to reach 3,000-5,000 calories...11.8weeksdividedby4=2.92months,longerlengthofstaywasassociatedwithloweradmissionBMI.

"Hey, how long was I out for?" Logan asked, sitting up slightly, still feeling a bit weak, but better than dead anyway.

"A day and a night." Oliver said, walking over to the bed, leaning down to gently kiss the top of the boy's head.

"That's a long time." Logan said and Oliver nodded.

"Are you alright? You scared me." Oliver said and Logan smiled, looking up at him.

"I'm fine, just a little tired." Liar.

"You slept for two days."

"Almost dying takes a lot out of you." Logan said and Oliver crossed his arms, looking down at the boy. "Too soon?"

"Logan, you really scared me." Oliver said softly and Logan looked up at him, sighing softly.

"I'm sorry, I..I wasn't really thinking about what I was doing at the time and when I realized..it was too late."

"Are you sure you're okay now?"

"Yeah, I think so." He said, playing with the fabric of the sheets.

He looked up when his dads walked in, his hands balling up into fists. They've only come to tell you you're being sent off, they want you gone, you won't see anyone you know for months.

"Logan, sweetie, how are you?" Matthew asked with a smile, coming over to his bed.

"I'm alright, just a bit tired." He said, sitting up slightly.

"So we've done some thinking and we'd like to have a talk with you-" Allen started and Matthew shot him a look.

"Al, he just woke up, give him some time-"

"It's fine, what did you want to talk about?"

"Well, for starters, treatment-" Maybe they'll just keep you locked up forever, they'll decide you're too mentally unfit to go home and never let you out. "I know you were concerned about hospitalization, and even though the doctor strongly recommended it, both of us fought it and you do have one other option which would be to stay home and receive treatment there."

"Wait, really?" Logan asked, looking up at him with a small smile.

"Yes." Allen said, smiling. "But you'd have to comply with treatment, that means getting a nutritionist for at least the first few months of your recovery, you will have to be monitored closely for the first few days, and we'd like you to try therapy again." Allen said and Logan knew it wasn't going to be fun or easy, but he wouldn't be going away, nobody would shove tubes up his nose, he'd be able to keep seeing his friends and going to school.

"Okay." He said softly, still processing all of it.

"The doctor said you also have quite a few medical problems now that can be somewhat addressed with certain supplements or just by eating more, but there are also many conditions that are not fixed as easily."

"Like what?" Logan asked quietly, already taking a few guesses.

"Like Osteopenia, and low blood pressure, and hopefully temporary Anemia, we can address these with the nutritionist, but at this point, you probably won't ever fully recover from the physical side effects." Allen said, sounding a bit annoyed. Logan nodded, glancing away from him.

"But you can still improve." Matthew said, looking at Logan. "Those things might be there, but learning to manage those is better than dying, or continuing what you're doing and having worse medical complications later."

"Yeah, I know." Logan said softly, glancing at Oliver who was sitting down in one of the plastic chairs, his arms crossed. Logan wondered if he'd already known. He'll probably tell everyone that you're fucked up and sick andyoucan'tevenstarveyourselfrightfuckingpieceofshitfailure.

"This is probably a little much to process right now." Matthew said, glancing at Allen. "Is there anything I can get for you?" He asked Logan.

"Just..when do I get to go home?"

"If your stitches are still looking okay, tonight. You're going to have a final physical evaluation and then we can leave, but that won't be for another few hours."

"Thanks." Logan said softly, giving Matthew a small smile, then glancing at Allen.

"Is there anything I can get you?" Matthew asked. "I grabbed a stuffed animal from your closet and your sketchbook." Logan couldn't help but smile, just having noticed the stuffed bear on his side table.

"I love you, Dad."

"I know." Matthew said with a smile. "I love you too."

It was another few minutes before a nurse came in and checked Logan's stitches. It was strange seeing the cuts actually stitched up, before that he'd just let them heal on their own. They were already beginning to scab and the nurse didn't need to do much other than look over them and tell him to clean them daily to which he nodded and she continued on talking about how he could be careful and not reopen them and other things like that.

He spent most of the afternoon sketching and talking to his dads. His parents came and went throughout the rest of the day and Oliver left around 2 for work. It was around 5 pm when he was finally evaluated and given the ok to go home.

He stepped inside the door and something about it just felt strange, maybe it was because it was one of the very few times that his dads were walking in with him. They weren't at work which they would be normally, they were right behind him. He thought maybe he hadn't thought about how much they weren't around before. He wondered if them being around as much as they said would start to feel suffocating after a little while..if they even went through with it. He figured they'd give it a month at most before going back to their regular schedule and he'd go back to eating as little as he wanted because they couldn't be bothered to check.

"Logan, what do you want for dinner? Your nutritionist will be coming over tomorrow but there's no plan tonight so you can choose." Matthew said and Logan tried not to panick at the thought. He knew he'd have to actually start eating now so he'd just have to get used to that feeling, it wasn't like he could try to kill himself again.

"Um.." He took a breath, running his fingers through his hair. "Maybe..Maybe a sandwich, with ham and cheese?" He asked and Matthew smiled.

"Would you like tea or milk with it?"

"Tea please." He said softly and his dad nodded, walking into the kitchen.

"Do you want to watch something on tv?" Allen asked from the living room.

"Can we watch Scooby Doo? The old version." He said and Allen smiled, browsing around on Netflix until he found it.

"Remember when you used to only watch Scooby Doo? I swear, every time you were home I heard it going on the tv and you were right there watching it and drawing the characters." Allen said with a chuckle.

"Yeah, I kinda miss that sometimes. I think the only reason I ever went outside back then was because of Oliver, he always wanted to play outside." Logan giggled softly.

"The two of you have got something really special, you know that?" Allen asked and Logan smiled, nodding. "Don't throw that away, I know it's easy to take things for granted, even your relationships with people, but don't take him for granted, and don't keep grudges, it doesn't amount to anything good. If he's abusive or cheats, don't spend time being silently mad at him, just leave." Allen said.

"What if he's not the problem?" Logan asked softly.

"You're not a problem, Logan, you're kind-hearted and generous to everyone."

"Well I kind of am, Papa, I'm gonna stress him out, he has so much to worry about already, he has bills to pay on top of school work, and I might not even be stable enough for a relationship. What if he's just like..better off without me?"

"You would go through the same for him that he does for you, wouldn't you?"

"Well, yeah-"

"Then you have a good relationship and you need to keep it. Logan, he knows you, he probably knew something like this could happen again, he was there the first time."

"I love you." Logan said quietly because he didn't want to argue and Allen sighed softly, pulling him close to kiss the top of his head.

"I love you too."

After that, they just watched the show and it wasn't long before Matthew had Logan's tea and sandwich ready. Dinner was difficult, it took him a long time to get through his sandwich even if it really wasn't much to eat. He tore off pieces of it, taking small bites and waiting inbetween picking it up again. It was easy to drink his tea, it didn't have any calories so it wasn't really an issue so much as the actual food was. All in all, it took close to 45 minutes to finish it, but his dads didn't seem to mind and let him take as long as he needed with it.

"I think I might just take a shower and head to bed now." He said softly and Matthew looked at him almost hesitantly. Why would he trust you?

"Just..keep the door unlocked." His dad said and he nodded, figuring he was lucky that his dads didn't feel the need to stand outside the door or in the bathroom with him.

Logan took a quick shower, washing over the stitches as gently as possible like he'd been told. He knew his razor was gone and he didn't have any others on backup but it wasn't like he could anyway, they'd probably ask to check even after the stitches were removed and the wounds had scarred over. He noticed his yellow bathmat was replaced with a fluffy white one. They probably couldn't get the blood out. The bathroom was spotless compared to when he'd last seen it. He imagined the maid had to scrub at the stains in the tile, he wondered if she'd even come back after that.

He dressed in a sweater and pajama pants to go to bed in, then looking around his room a few minutes to see what'd been taken. His journal, pills, and razor were all obviously gone, though his backup cigarettes were still sitting inside his desk drawer, his phone was still on his dresser. He had a few texts from Oliver and his friends, most of them telling him to get better soon and a text from Ivy saying she'd send him notes from English class. There was nothing about the hospital. He didn't tell them? He bit his lip, knowing he should let Oliver know he was home, he'd probably been worrying.

He tossed his phone down onto his bed next to him and pulled out his sketchbook, opening to a fresh page. It was only another few minutes before his phone rang and his picked it up to see it was Oliver, holding it to his ear.

"Hey." Logan said softly.

"Hey, how are you? How was getting home?"

"Good, I just kinda watched a show and ate dinner and got ready for bed. How'd work go?"

"Pretty good. Gia yelled at the manager and then got fired."

"Really?" Logan asked with a grin and Oliver chuckled.

"Yeah, apparently a customer complained and then she called them a liar and the manager tried to have a talk with her and she wasn't having it. You should have heard how offended she was when he told her not to come back." Oliver said.

"How's school been?" Logan asked.

"Alright. I just told everyone you were sick, I hope you don't mind, I didn't want to-"

"No, that's fine..none of them really know, I guess I'll have to figure out how to break it to them soon though if I'm going to be out for a week or two."

They talked on for a little while about school and the hospital until Logan was tired enough to go to sleep and Oliver told him he'd see him in the morning. They exchanged 'I love you's and Logan hung up. It took him a while to get to sleep, but he did eventually.
