《Everything Inbetween Bones [BxB] ✓》Chapter 42

Logan smiled softly, looking down from the bridge at the frozen over pond. His fingers were frozen numb and his nose was probably turned red by now, but it was so pretty out, snowing just enough to feel meaningful.
"Come on, Stick, catch up." Ivy said with a smile and Logan giggled, running to catch up with his friends. They'd all finally decided on a place to go: to the park to feed the ducks..except there were no ducks because it was winter, but it was still pretty so they were all walking the path. It had been a while since they'd all done something together.
"It's so nice out, it almost feels nostalgic." Sy said and Ivy nodded.
"I think I'll write a poem about snow later." Grace said as Tyler was leaning up to catch a snowflake on his tongue.
"Will I be crucified if I say I like Fall better?" Oliver asked. "Snow is wet and cold."
"But it's so pretty." Logan said, looking around at the white landscape.
"But you're freezing." Oliver said, looking down at the shivering boy.
"But it's so pretty." Logan said again with a giggle and Oliver chuckled.
"Ooh, there's a park." Ivy said. "Grace, my love, come, swing me." Ivy giggled and grabbed her girlfriend's hand, running over with her as Grace grinned and followed.
"They're so cute." Logan said with a quiet giggle and Oliver took his hand. Their relationship wasn't exactly a secret anymore, Logan just wasn't really a fan of PDA.
"Aren't they? I'm just glad she's happy." Sy said and Tyler smiled, nodding.
Things had been better between Logan and Syrus, they weren't exactly best friends anymore, but maybe it was true what they said about time changing things. The bitterness had melted away between them and they could almost talk now without it being awkward. Logan had decided that he didn't mind Syrus dating Jace, it was okay with him, not that it was his decision in the first place, but he'd made peace with it.
"You want me to swing you too?" Oliver asked Logan and the boy giggled, nodding as he walked over with him to the park area and Syrus and Tyler went off on their own to the other playground equipment, seeming to have some kind of competition going on involving the merry-go-round. If they weren't twins Logan was sure he'd forget they were brothers except for the moments when they went into one of their spontaneous competitions.
"Hold on." Oliver said softly before pushing Logan on the swing and Logan held tightly to the chain even if it made his fingers turn red with the cold of the metal.
"You guys better fucking stop, I swear to god, I'm gonna get jealous." Ivy said with a laugh and Logan giggled.
"Nah, you guys are way cuter." Logan said.
"You know, I'm actually pretty happy being in my own relationship." Oliver said.
"Oh yeah, no, definitely, I love my boyfriend, my relationship is great." Logan said as he laughed quietly and Ivy snorted.
"That sounded about half as genuine as it should have." Oliver said with a chuckle, playfully grabbing the chains to stop the swing.

Logan squeaked at the sudden change and his face went red, holding onto the chain still. "You're mean." Logan said with a little pout that he could only maintain for about three seconds before he was smiling again.
"I must be." Oliver said with a little grin, swinging him again.
---
Logan sat next to Oliver in a small gazebo, Oliver's shoe bumping against his and he giggled softly, taking Oliver's hand gently. Ivy was walking through the snow with Grace a little ways off, loudly singing Walking in a Winter Wonderland. Ty and Sy walked into the gazebo, sitting down and Sy shook snow off his beanie before putting it back on.
"We should all make a snowman in a bit." Sy said and Logan smiled, nodding.
"We don't have a carrot for the nose." Tyler said.
"We don't really need one." Logan said and Tyler shook his head.
"We do, it's mandatory."
"You don't have to make a snowman with us then." Oliver said with a shrug and a smile and Tyler just sighed.
"Did you ask that girl out yet?" Logan asked and Sy looked at his brother.
"What girl?" He asked and Logan giggled softly as Tyler's face reddened.
"Alex..in the play." Tyler said and Sy grinned.
"Dude, you shoulda told me, I could have talked to her for you."
"But that's the problem, she's going to end up liking you." Ty said and Syrus shook his head.
"She can't, I'm-" Syrus started to something but seemed to stop. "Trust me, dude, I'll be the best wingman ever, we're getting you a girlfriend." He said, nudging Ty's shoulder and Tyler pushed up his glasses with a small, embarassed smile.
"Alright, whatever, but I still don't know if I even have the time for a girlfriend." Ty said and Syrus snorted.
"Make some, you gotta get laid before you die."
"I'll think about it." Ty said with a smile. Logan glanced over at his boyfriend with a small smile of his own and Oliver looked back with a raised eyebrow. Logan blushed, glancing away.
"I wonder if there are any fish still living under the ice in the creek." Logan said softly.
"The ice insulates them actually, it's why ice fishing is possible, it's a result of hydrogen bonding in water molecules." Ty said. "I bet we could find some crayfish if we looked for them."
"We're too old for that." Sy said softly, resting his arm against the railing of the gazebo.
"You're never too old for liking childish things." Logan said quietly back and Sy smiled a little.
"I'm too old to be getting soaked in a creek, disturbing innocent crayfish in the middle of winter." Sy said.
"Childhood isn't over yet." Oliver said. "I'm not done being a child until I'm old enough to be called an adult."
"It's nice to not have too much resposibility yet." Logan said with a small smile.
"I don't have to worry about college for at least another year." Oliver said and Logan could feel his boyfriend's thumb gently tracing over the back of his hand.

"I can't believe we're graduating next year." Logan said in a whisper. "I almost want to go back to highschool feeling like it would last forever."
"Why? Don't you want to get out of here?" Ty asked and Logan shrugged.
"I just..I don't want to lose everyone, you know? People hardly ever stay in touch with their highschool friends, and I'd miss this."
"I'm sure we'll all stay in touch." Sy said with a small smile.
"I think I'm gonna go build a snowman." Ty said as he got up. "Anyone wanna join me?"
"I might stay here a bit." Sy said and Logan nodded, stuffing his hands in his jacket pockets, though it was actually Oliver's jacket. Oliver looked down at his phone and cursed under his breath.
"Shit, I gotta go, I completely forgot that I have work in like twenty minutes, I could probably still make it to drive you home if you need me to." Oliver said to Logan and the boy shook his head.
"That's alright, I can get a ride with Ivy and Grace." He said and Oliver stood, nodding with a small smile and he leaned down to kiss his boyfriend quickly.
"I'll see you later then." Oliver said and Logan smiled, his face red.
"Seeya, Oli!" He called as his boyfriend headed in the direction of his car. He smiled to himself as he stuffed his hands back into the jacket pocket, feeling the metal lighter that his boyfriend always kept in it. He didn't bother running after him, he knew he had another; Logan had bought him two others because he kept accidentally stealing Oliver's lighter.
He sat there for a little while longer, watching Ivy, Grace, and Ty start rolling up snow to make a snowman together. He kind of wished he weren't so cold and tired, but he knew he could get up and do it if he wanted to, he just wasn't in the mood to get up, and his hands were still numb.
"Can we talk?" Sy asked and Logan looked at him, realizing it was the first time they'd been alone together since their breakup. It felt like forever ago that that happened. He nodded.
"We probably should." He said softly. He wondered then if he'd ever stop feeling guilty for what he'd done, he'd ruined so much.
"The thing is..I'm not really mad anymore." Syrus sighed softly. "I know you tried to apologize, and it was still shitty, but it's not like I hate you." He said and Logan nodded.
"I shouldn't have done it, I know that, it didn't even seem like a good idea at the time, I just...I guess I didn't really know how to say no, and I thought I could make it work if I just..pretended to like you. That really was part of it, but then there was also the thought that maybe I could get over my feelings for Oliver if I couldn't date him. I never cheated on you, I promise I didn't, but even still, none of it should have ever happened. I'm sorry." Logan said softly.
"I know, I'm sorry I left you out in the cold." Sy said, running his fingers through his hair. "I don't know if..if we can really be friends the same way again, I mean, it's just different now, but I think we could at least still be on good terms." Sy said and Logan nodded.
"I'd like that." Logan said, smiling a little and Sy took a breath, seeming a bit more tense.
"There's something else that you should know though, and you have every right to be mad at me, but I still feel like you should know-"
"You're dating Jace?" Logan asked and Sy's eyes widened.
"How did you-?"
"Gia, she came into the shop and went on a whole spiel about how I turned you gay because you're dating a new guy now and then she went into details and it didn't take much to piece it together." Logan said softly. "I was mad at first, I felt..betrayed more than anything, but I don't have any right to tell you who to date, and if he treats you well then I can be okay with it." He said and Sy let out a relieved breath.
"I should have known not to tell her, she said she wouldn't tell anyone though, god, that was stupid of me. But yeah, no, he does treat me well, like, he's..kind as weird as that sounds. I guess I didn't really intend to do anything other than fuck with him once, but then it kinda became a thing, and somehow we ended up going on dates sometimes, and I don't know, I just..he's kinda changed." Sy said and Logan couldn't imagine Jace being anything close to kind, it was strange hearing about him like that.
"I'm glad you're happy." Logan said, pushing his words out even if he felt tense, like there was a rubber band coiling around him and soon it'd just snap. He wasn't mad, or jealous, he just felt so unbelievably empty and hurt, he'd kinda shunned that feeling away so he could convince himself he was fine with it all, but now it had to be real.
"I mean, we're kinda even now, you're dating Oliver, I'm dating Jace." Sy said and Logan looked at him, speechless and baffled.
"Oliver didn't beat you 'til or passed out multiple times, or call you names, or cause you to have flashbacks and panic attacks, how are they even slightly comparable?" Logan asked defensively and Syrus sighed softly.
"About that..he feels really bad, he wants to apologize for everything, I told him I'd talk to you about it. Maybe you guys could go out for coffee or something, y'know, make up?" Sy suggested like it was an obvious next step and Logan bit the inside of his cheek hard.
"I'll think about it." He said quietly, getting up to walk over to where Grace, Ivy, and Ty were putting the second ball on the snowman. He was still numb and shivering, but now all he wanted to do with bury his hands in the snow and let them burn with the cold.
