《Everything Inbetween Bones [BxB] ✓》Chapter 34

A/N: Hey guys, how's your week going? I finished up this chapter and I hope you like it. I never been super into The Front Bottoms, not that they're bad, I just didn't take the time to listen to a whole lot of their songs, but now I'm warming up to them and I'm loving them more and more. I really liked Lonely Eyes and thought I'd share it because it kinda fits the story mood I think, also I didn't want to do another Crane Wives song because I would've, I'm addicted to them now. Anyways, here's the chapter, I hope you all have an amazing day, and drink some water if you've forgotten to today.
Logan spent most of Sunday at home because Oliver had work and Logan wasn't starting his job at the art shop until Monday, but he'd called Oliver that night to talk for a bit. He'd also been alone most of the day because both his dads had work and he'd just sat around reading and spent some time sketching, but hardly got out of bed. He didn't like feeling lazy, but it was kind of difficult when he didn't have the motivation to do anything but read, or sketch, or watch tv on his laptop. He didn't like saying he was depressed, he didn't really think he was. He didn't have any reason to be sad, and he was dating Oliver, he had the easiest life in the world. He had good friends, accepting parents, an amazing boyfriend, and a solid talent, with good grades to get him into college. What's wrong with me? Why can't I just be happy for once? I have everything.
On Monday he woke up around 3:00 am, almost two hours before his alarm clock would go off. He groaned, cold, and hungry, and tired all at once. His insomnia had been worse even though he wasn't having as many nightmares. He used to have much worse insomnia as a child with night terrors almost every night and he was sure it'd been hell for his dads to deal with having their nine-year-old knocking on their door at 2:30 in the morning crying. He still felt bad about that.
He spent most of the early morning lying in bed, trying to go back to sleep, At 4:00 he got up and drank three cups of coffee and got dressed, deciding it was pointless trying to go back to sleep, so he opted for watching the sunrise. He smiled, remembering sitting on the rocks at the overlook with Oliver, watching light pour into the horizon and over the treetops. He decided he wanted to paint that at some point.
His dad, Allen, came down the steps around 5:30. He walked out to the front porch where Logan was sitting on the steps, smoking a cigarette. Logan glanced up a bit when Allen sat down next to him, taking a cigarette out of his own pack. Logan silently handed him a lighter, already knowing he was going to ask.
"Have you slept? You look half-dead." Allen said and Logan shrugged.
"A bit."
"What time did you wake up?"
"Three." Logan said with a soft yawn before he picked an ashtray up off the step's railing, crushing out his cigarette. Allen was okay with him smoking; Matthew was about as okay with Logan smoking as he was with Allen smoking. He tolerated it as long as the house didn't smell like cigarettes. Logan had picked up the habit on his own, mostly because he'd heard nicotine was an appetite suppressant, but then he'd ended up liking how it felt and it'd been added to the list of bad habits.

"I can pick you up some Benadryl from the store if you need it." Allen said and Logan shook his head.
"I'm fine."
"Alright." Allen said, seeming to drop the subject. "How's school going?"
"Good, I have a test coming up in math, but I think I'm ready for it."
"That's good. You're a much better student than I was." Allen said with a soft sigh.
"I do my best." Logan said and smiled when Allen ruffled his hair with a smile of his own.
"Well, you're brilliant, not to mention talented and driven."
"You're just saying that because you're my dad."
"No, I'm saying that because it's true, and I'm proud of you, and I should be letting you know that more." Allen said, finishing his cigarette and crushing it into the ashtray.
"Thanks, Dad." Logan said softly, a smile still lingering on his face.
"You're welcome." He said, then sighing quickly before he stood up. "Now, I am going to go brush my teeth because my husband won't kiss me if I taste like smoke. Have fun at school." He said and Logan smiled, nodding.
"Alright, tell Dad I love him."
"Will do." Allen said before walking back in and Logan could see his bus rounding the corner so he got up to walk to his stop.
---
"-And I was like, yeah, she's my girlfriend, so what? And then mom freaked out and went on a long rant about how she wants grandkids someday, and I'm supposed to marry a nice boy from an 'established' family, and she's just so fucking worked up about the whole thing." Ivy said as they were getting off the bus and Logan really was interested, well, he wanted to be, but he couldn't help his attention drifting over to Oliver who was getting out of his car across the lot and Logan smiled. "Loggy-" His eyes shot back to Ivy.
"S-Sorry, what?" He asked and she smiled, rolling her eyes.
"Alright, lover boy, something definitely happened on that camping trip, what was it?" She asked and he shook his head.
"Nothing happened. We had hot dogs and watched the stars." He said, trying to forget how it felt to have Oliver's lips pressed against his.
"You're such a liar, but okay." She said with a giggle and Logan blushed, looking back to his boyfriend who was walking in, his backpack hanging off his shoulder by one strap. He was wearing his leather jacket that'd become Logan's favorite to borrow when they were together. His hair looked a bit messy that morning and Logan wanted to run his fingers through it again like he had when they were curled up in their small tent. "What do you think I should get Grace for Valentine's day?" Ivy asked.
"Valentine's day?"
"Yeah, I know it's in like, three weeks, but I want to plan something out." Ivy said with a smile. "Okay, first, we're going on a date at this really cute artsy restaurant, then we're going to her house to watch movies all night, but I still want to get her something."
"You could make her something." Logan suggested and thought that maybe he should get something for Oliver. What would he even want? He doesn't really like gifts. Maybe there's a book he wants or something.

"Oooh, I could make her a jar of those cute paper stars." Ivy said with a smile.
"Oh, I love those things!" Logan giggled quietly.
"She loves shit like that, maybe I could put little lights in it. I can't wait to get home to start it."
They walked in, talking mostly about the play which Ivy said was officially announced to be happening the second saturday and sunday of March which, she said, was kind of terrifying considering there were still kids learning their dances and most weren't off their scripts yet. Logan wasn't too worried, as long as he had his part done, which he almost did, he couldn't blame himself.
Ivy walked off to get to her class and Logan walked to his locker, grabbing his textbook and walking to English. He was a bit early, but he could just use the time to sketch. He smiled when he saw Oliver, already sitting at his typical desk.
"Hey, bear." Oliver said casually with a small smile.
"Hey." Logan said, flustering already.
"How was your weekend?"
"Pretty good. How was yours?" Logan said, playing along and not even trying to keep back a quiet laugh. Oliver shrugged with a little smile.
"Pretty typical. You know: Work, reading, watching tv." Oliver said with a small smirk. "Oh, are you free tomorrow? I found a cave?"
"A cave?" Logan asked curiously.
"Totally abandoned, entirely secluded, highly secretive." Oliver said.
"Oh, you know, as much as I'd love to, I don't know if my boyfriend would be okay with that. I should probably make sure with him." Logan said with a little grin and Oliver raised an eyebrow.
"Of course."
"Lemme just text him quick." Logan said, taking out his phone.
Oliver took out his phone. "Oh, sorry, it's my boyfriend, I'll just text him back quick."
Logan blushed and smiled, about to retort when a few students walked in and their moment alone was over. Logan walked to his desk, sitting down and setting his textbook on his table, his bag next to his seat. He took out his sketchbook, waiting for the teacher to come in.
---
When it was time for lunch, Logan picked up an apple (90) that he planned on eating, and a salad (300-500?) that he did not. He was trying to start eating lunch again. It was a banned mealtime, but he didn't want Oliver to worry about him. He walked to his lunch table and sat next to Ivy and Tyler, across from Oliver. Is this too close? Are they going to know? What if it's obvious? Is it obvious? It's so obvious. He shook the thoughts out of his head. The only person that he didn't want to know was Sy, and he just didn't want to make him more upset than he already was.
Syrus walked over and sat down beside Grace. Logan was picking at his apple, twisting the stem around and around. He could remember in middleschool when he and Oliver sat with their group of friends, playing what was always referred to as 'the soulmate game.' Whenever someone had an apple, they'd twist the stem, going up the alphabet one letter with each twist until the stem broke, then the letter they landed on was the first letter of the name of the person they'd marry. Logan always twisted it gently, hoping to make it all the way to 'O' before it broke.
"I heard you won the art competition." Syrus said, glancing at Logan who nodded.
"Yeah, it was pretty great." Logan said quietly.
"We should all go out somewhere as a group again sometime. Maybe like, hiking or swimming or something." Ivy said.
"Babe, it's the middle of winter." Grace said with a small smile.
"I know, but I was talking more about swimming in the summer." Ivy said with a quiet giggle in embarassment.
"We could all hang out and watch movies." Logan said and Ivy nodded with a smile.
"You know, I'd like to go to the park to feed the ducks." Tyler said.
"Are you even allowed to do that?" Syrus asked.
"You're not allowed to feed them bread, which is why we will bring corn." Tyler said with a small smile.
"I didn't know you like ducks." Logan said looking over at his friend.
"They are compelling creatures." Tyler said, pushing his glasses up.
"We could all go on a roadtrip this summer." Ivy suggested.
"Throwing seven people into a cramped van for hours, yeah, sounds like a great idea." Syrus said sarcastically with a smile.
Logan took a bite of his apple finally, chewing it slowly, trying to ignore how sweet it was and how hungry he felt. He took a sip of his water, setting down the apple and trying to pay attention to the conversation. He looked to Oliver who was looking back at him now and smiled a little, quickly looking away before anyone would notice.
"Maybe we could go tomorrow after school." Ivy suggested and Logan looked up.
"Oh, I actually can't then, I have a thing happening." He said quickly.
"What thing?" Ivy asked curiously.
"Just um..my dads want me to be home because we're having family time that night." Logan said and Ivy nodded.
"Maybe we could go Thursday or Saturday then." Ivy said and Logan nodded.
Syrus checked his watch and quickly finished his sandwich, drinking the last of his soda and grabbing his backpack.
"Where are you off to in suck a hurry?" Ivy asked with a small smile.
"I've got a meeting with my guidance counselor about grades and college and shit. I'll see you in history." He said to Ivy.
"Good luck." She said and he nodded with a smile.
Logan tugged his sleeve down a bit as it was just starting to ride up a little and then took a bite of his apple, watching Syrus walk off. He wondered what would have happened if he'd have just said no to him, if he'd pushed him away, or never had been backstage in the first place. He wondered what would have happened if they were still together. He only pondered this for a minute, deciding that he couldn't really change any of it and maybe if he'd never dated Syrus, he wouldn't be with Oliver now. He figured the universe had a way all it's own of working things out and maybe it'd be okay in the end.
