《Everything Inbetween Bones [BxB] ✓》Chapter 33

A/N: Lemme just start off by saying I am so sorry it's been taking so long to get chapters out and I appreciate you guys being so patient with me. I've been busy and stressed and didn't have a lot of energy to write, but I finally got this done and I hope you guys like it. Also, I chose Can't Go Back because it's an amazing song and I've developed a slightly unhealthy obsession with The Crane Wives over the past few weeks. Anyways, I hope everyone's having an amazing night or day and enjoy the chapter.
"Hey, Bear, wake up, come on-" Logan was gently shaken awake, and upon hearing Oliver's voice, he sleepily opened his eyes.
"..what?" He asked, slightly confused as if the idea of waking up was an entirely foreign concept.
"It's almost time-"
"For what?"
"The sun, it's about to rise, come on, we're gonna go watch it." Oliver said and Logan opened his eyes fully to see Oliver over him, smiling before leaning down to kiss his nose and Logan could feel his face heating up as everything about the night before rushed back to him. "I'll carry you if I need to, but we're definitely not missing this."
"Alright alright, I'm getting up." Logan said with a little smile, stretching slightly but quickly retracting when he could feel one of his cuts starting to reopen. He didn't want to think about all the things that were wrong with him when he was with Oliver, and for a moment, he'd almost forgotten how much of a mess his life was.
The two boys walked out to the cliff edge as they'd done the night before, now watching the sunrise instead of the stars. It was a bit chilly that morning, but Logan was already wearing Oliver's jacket and it wasn't terrible.
The sun crept over the horizon, covering everything in a blanket of warmth and golden light. Light flooded over the trees and lake below, soon reaching Logan and Oliver as they sat watching it. Logan smiled just a little, but it was real, he felt truly happy for a moment as Oliver took his hand gently.
"You're so beautiful." Oliver said in a whisper and Logan let his head fall to his boyfriend's shoulder.
"How did it take us this long to get together?" Logan asked, Oliver wrapping an arm around the boy.
"I've liked you since the end of middleschool, I just didn't want to ask you out and have you say yes but not really mean it, so I figured if you liked me enough, you'd make the first move." Oliver said with a small smile.
"You should have just asked me out."
"Sy asked you out and you couldn't reject him, I didn't want to take my chances and ruin whatever we already had."
"I should have just rejected him." Logan said quietly.
"It's best not to hold onto regret. You did it, it's over, just take whatever you can from it and don't dwell on it."
"I wish it were that easy." Logan said quietly.
"I know." Oliver said, kissing his head gently. "You know, it's not always a bad thing to be a people-pleaser though, you're good at keeping the peace, but you can't make everyone happy."
"I just don't want anyone to dislike me, I can't stand disappointing people."
"I know, bear." Oliver said with a small smile.

"We should probably head home at some point." Logan said quietly as he sat between Oliver's leg's, the dark haired boy's arms around his waist and Logan's back to his chest.
"Yeah, we could also go out somewhere if you want for a bit, head into town or drive around and find a new shop to check out, then we can pick up some lunch and eat it in an empty parking lot." Oliver said with a small smile and Logan nodded, though he didn't hear anything after 'lunch.' He ran low calorie options at fast food places and restaurants through his head.
"Could I maybe just pick up a smoothie for lunch?"
"Sure, I guess, if that's all you want." Oliver said and Logan scratched his collarbone with a soft yawn, nodding.
"I'm not usually hungry by lunch, but we should totally go find a new antiques shop or book store or something." Logan said with a small smile.
"There's also this old ghost town a few miles away, we should go explore it." Oliver said and Logan giggled, nodding.
"Also, I haven't seen your apartment yet, maybe I could like..come over sometime." Logan suggested with a bit of hesitance. Oliver had always been closed off about where he lived, but Logan wasn't sure if he was ashamed of his dad or his house.
"It's a bit small." Oliver said, rubbing the back of his neck.
"I don't mind."
"it's nowhere near as well-furnished as your house."
"That's okay."
"I just..I don't want you to think of me as..well- poor or pitiful, I guess..because I'm not unhappy or anything."
"It's not like I don't know you're in a bad financial situation, why would I think any different of you for that?" Logan asked and Oliver smiled, pulling him closer and kissing his cheek gently.
"You wouldn't, because you're you." Oliver said and Logan smiled.
"Yeahh, and I'm also a walking mat."
"It's hard to learn to stand up for yourself, but it's something to work on." Oliver said.
"I mean, if anyone's pitiful-"
"Logan, if I hear you badmouth yourself once more time I'm going to compliment you in every fucking way possible and kiss every ince of your face." Oliver said and Logan giggled quietly, shoving him gently. "Don't test me, I will do it." Oliver said with a grin.
"Is that a threat or a promise."
"I don't know, do you feel threatened?"
"I feel pretty threatened." Logan giggled.
"Mhm, well you should." Oliver said, kissing all over the boy's cheek and Logan blushed, smiling brightly.
"What is that for?"
"Being too adorable to not be kissed."
"I'm not adorable." Logan said and then his eyes widened and he realized about the exact same time Oliver did before he squealed as he was pushed to the ground with Oliver peppering kisses over his face, the boy a giggling, blushing mess, trying to cover his face but Oliver would just gently push his hands away every time.
---
It was 12:00 when they decided to get going. Logan was getting a bit cold even with Oliver's jacket and they were out of fire wood. Oliver packed up the tent and sleeping bags while Logan brought the remaining food to the car. It was cold enough to snow that day, Logan wondered if it would. It was only midway through January, but winter came early and stayed late in lakeview.

"So I was thinking, if you're not too hungry yet, we could possibly head over to the park or maybe one of the shops around and hang out for a bit, then we can drop by the smoothie place and I can pick up some lunch for myself somewhere else." Oliver said.
"Ooh, we could go wander around that furniture store, crafty decor, and then get lunch and go to the park." Logan said with a small smile and Oliver nodded in agreement.
"That sounds like a top notch idea. Why the furniture store?"
"I like to wander around, there are also fun journals there, and decorative tape, and paintings even if they're probably copies."
"You're amused by the simplest things." Oliver said with a chuckle and Logan smiled with a shrug, his face turning pink.
"We don't have to go if you don't-"
"Nope, I'm already on the way."
"But if you'd be bored by it, I don't want to drag you along."
"Nah, even if I don't like anything there, you want to go, and I want to make you happy, so afterward we'll go to the park, which is what I want to do. You get your thing, I get mine." Oliver said and Logan sighed with a small smile, nodding.
---
"Oh my god, look, it's a mini fox." Logan said with a giggle, showing Oliver the small porceline figurine. Oliver chuckled, grinning at his boyfriend's reactions to the all the cute things in the shop and even if the store wasn't his style, Logan liked it, and it was adorable watching him get excited over colored tape and figurines anyways.
"I think they have stuffed animals, we can go check if they have a fox one." Oliver said and Logan's eyes widened as a smile found it's way to his lips, but then quickly he bit his lip, frowning a bit.
"Stuffed animals are so childish though."
"Nonesense, you can't put an age limit on what is essentially a small animal shaped pillow." Oliver said and Logan smiled again. "Let's just go look at them." Oliver said and the boy nodded.
They were hardly halfway there when Logan grabbed Oliver's arm, getting side-tracked by a wall of bullet journals and sketchbooks. He was easily distracted by bright colors or leather covers.
"I wish I was a bullet journal person." Logan said with a soft sigh.
"You could be." Oliver said and Logan shook his head.
"I've tried, I think I just don't have the commitment for it, I always stop after two days of doing it."
"Yeah, that's the reason why I'm terrible at journaling." Oliver said and Logan smiled a little.
"Back to looking for the stuffed animals." Logan said, lacing his finger's through Oliver's as he led him off to another isle.
Logan was distracted by paintings, pens, watercolor throw pillow designs, and string lights before he ever found the stuffed animals, but at least he did find a fox plush when he got there. It was quite large and probably the softest stuffed animal Logan had ever felt and Oliver was quick to tell him he wasnt allowed to buy it himself and Logan eventually gave in and let Oliver purchase it for him.
After that, Logan picked up a mango smoothie (200) and he only really planned to drink half of it considering how large it was. Oliver bought a burger (300), a large fries (480) and a medium cherry coke (230) 1010, how does he not worry about that? How does he fucking eat that much? Is he secretly a black hole? And he's still hot..how the fuck? Logan shut off his brain because he didn't like judging other people's eating habits even if sometimes it satisfied an itch deep inside of him that told him he was better than them for eating less, he was better for being strong, he was powerful. He knew he wasn't, but he couldn't help but think about it sometimes. It scared him just to think how awful he was, and nobody knew.
---
It was a bit warmer in the afternoon around 3:00 when Logan and Oliver were walking through the park. Oliver's lunch was long finished and Logan was still holding his smoothie because throwing it out, especially in front of Oliver, just felt wasteful and ungrateful and he couldn't bring himself to do it, so here he was, a half-melted and, at this point, unappetizing looking smoothie in his hands.
"I wonder if my professional tree climbing skills have still held up after all these years.." Oliver said with a small grin, looking up at a rather large tree.
"Oli, don't, you're gonna hurt yourself." Logan said, looking up at him in warning.
"Oh please, it's not even that high. Here, hold my jacket, I wanna see how high I can get."
"What if a branch breaks?"
"I'll be careful. Why don't you come up with me?" Oliver asked and Logan looked up before shaking his head. It wasn't so much the thought of climbing the tree as it was passing out after working a bit too hard to climb up it and then falling and cracking his head open on the dirt which, even if he didn't die, would probably lead to a bad infection of some kind.
"I'm okay, just..don't fall or anything." Logan said and Oliver nodded with a little smile as Logan took his jacket.
Soon Oliver had climbed all the way to the top, and whilst climbing down, decided it was a good idea to hang upside down, a small smirk on his face.
"If you fall and die, I'm not forgiving you." Logan said jokingly, though it did scare him and Oliver could tell so he just chuckled a bit and continued climbing down, hanging from the last branch and skillfully dropping down, then less skillfully crumpling to the dirt.
"Fuck!" Oliver said as he grabbed his leg and Logan's eyes widened before he ran over to him.
"Oli, are you okay?! Shit, I told you this would happen. Does it hurt? oh my god, what if it's broken?" Logan was practically shaking as he thought out loud, then looking to Oliver again when he heard him laughing quietly.
"Bear, I'm fine." He said, getting up with a little grin.
"You fucking asshole, I was terrified!" Logan said, hitting his shoulder and Oliver leaned over to kiss the top of his head.
"Don't worry so much, I told you, I'm a professional."
"You could've gotten yourself hurt." Logan said quietly and Oliver sighed.
"Okay, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that..but it was a little bit funny."
"It was not."
"It was a little bit."
"Was not."
"Do you want a hug for your troubles?" Oliver asked with a little smile and Logan glanced at him for less than a second before looking away again.
"...Yes."
