A/N: Hey guys, sorry this took longer than expected to put out, I hope you like it anyways. Don't shoot me down for choosing a Sleeping With Sirens song, it's beautiful and also I was feeling nostalgic and felt like revisiting a few bands I used to listen to when I was 13, so have it. I hope everyone's having an amazing week.

When Logan got home, he worked on his painting for a few hours, starting on the snake and a few of the flowers while he listened to quiet music playing through the speakers in his bedroom. Sometimes when he was home alone, he put in his earbuds and walked out to the backyard and stared into his reflection in the pool with the music turned up high. He thought maybe that was one of those things his therapist would have called strange and possibly suicidal tendencies. He wasn't suicidal, he knew he wasn't, he didn't want to die, he just sometimes didn't want to be living his life as himself in the body he had with the brain he possessed, he was damaged, he sometimes wondered if he'd ever really heal.

"Hey, how was school?" He looked up to see Matthew at the door and smiled, setting the painting aside out of his lap.

"It was good, how was work?"

"Absolutely spectacular, there's a new book we're publishing and I just know it's going to be a best-seller, I can feel it in my bones." He said with a grin and Logan giggled quietly.

"Oh, dad, I was wondering if I could go out tonight, there's this open mic thing at the coffee shop, Ivy's going." He said and Matthew nodded.

"Absolutely, but remember-"

"Home by 12, be safe, keep my phone on me, and I have to be able to wake up for school tomorrow."

"Wonderful." Matthew said with a smile, ruffling Logan's red curls. "Your father and I are going out tonight anyways, we might not be back by the time you get home, will you be okay?"

"Yeah, dad, I'll be fine." Logan said and Matthew's smile remained, but his eyes seemed to change tone.

"Are you doing okay, Logan?" He asked and Logan nodded, quickly smiling to cover up the panic that he felt at the question.

"Yeah, I'm good, a little stressed with the competition and breaking up with Sy, but I'm okay." Logan said and Matthew sat down at the foot of his bed, looking at him with a small smile.

"You'd tell me if you weren't?" Logan couldn't stand the look of concern on Matthew's face, he wanted to cry, but he didn't.

"Yeah, I would.." He said and then hesitated at the next part. "I have been..getting flashbacks sometimes again, not often, but sometimes.."

"I've been talking to your father..and I won't force you, you know I won't, but maybe you should consider going back to therapy." Matthew said, taking his hand. Logan swallowed the stone in his throat and nodded a little.

"I don't know, therapy never really worked for me, I can't..talk about it, I can't even remember all of it."

"But maybe they'd have good advice. Just think about it, for me." Matthew said and Logan smiled a bit, nodding.

"I will."

"Thank you." He gave a quick sigh. "Now I am going to go put on my favorite blazer and flamingo tie, and I am going to get myself ready for dinner. Have fun with your friends, alright?" Logan's dad hugged him quickly.

"I will, thanks dad." Logan said and Matthew smiled to him.

"I love you, Logan."

"Love you, dad." And with that, he walked out of the room, leaving Logan to think about their conversation. Logan wondered if maybe therapy wasn't such a bad idea, but he knew telling his therapist everything would result in another hospital trip and his dads finding out about both his self harm and eating disorder, he didn't want that, but maybe he could skirt around the issues, it wasn't like they were that big a deal anyways, they were just coping mechanisms and maybe he could get away with not bringing them up.

He changed into ripped black jeans and his yellow hoodie, then he grabbed his phone and walked out to his car, leaving for the cafe and hoping to get there a few minutes early.

---

When Logan got to the coffee shop, Oliver was sitting at one of the small tables. The event hadn't started yet, but it seemed they'd both gotten there a few minutes early. He couldn't help but smile when he saw the two cups sitting in front of his best friend who was looking at his phone, not paying attention.

"Hey." Logan said and Oliver looked up, smiling.

"Hey, I assumed you wanted black coffee, but if you want something else-"

"Nono, it's okay, I want it." Logan said, sitting down. There were a few people walking in and taking seats at different tables, but it didn't look like there was going to be a big crowd.

"I considered bringing my guitar and play something, but I figured I'm definitely not good enough yet to be playing in front of anyone."

"I didn't know you play guitar." Logan said, taking a sip of his coffee.

"Yeah, I picked it up last year, but I'm not really any good, I knew you'd ask me to play and then I'd completely embarass myself." Oliver said and Logan giggled quietly.

"How about..if I let you take pictures of me, then you have to play guitar for me sometime." Logan said and Oliver chuckled, nodding.

"Alright, deal-"

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Cafe Joe's monthly open mic night, we have a lot of fun here." A girl with bright pink hair announced. "If you want to add your name, the list is right over here, so don't be shy. We're going to be starting in a few minutes, any talent is accepted." She said in a cheery voice before setting the sheet down on a small table and Logan looked up to see Ivy and Grace walking over, talking to eachother and giggling about something. Logan smiled a little and raised his hand a bit when Ivy looked his way and she grinned.

"Hey, you came!" She said, walking over to him with Grace.

"Yeah, I thought it would be fun." Logan said and Ivy nodded.

"It totally will, I signed up for karaoke and you should too if you want to." She said and Logan shook his head with a little smile.

"Nah, I don't have any performing talent." He said, taking a sip of his coffee. "But you two will do great, I'm sure." He said and Ivy smiled,

"Do you mind if we come sit with you?"

"No, go ahead." Oliver said, referring to the two other seats at their table.

"Awesome." She said and sat down.

"Babe, do you want anything? I might get a mocha." Grace said and Ivy paused for a moment.

"Can I just share with you?" She asked and Grace smiled, pecking Ivy's lips and then nodding, walking off to get it.

"You guys are cute." Logan said and Ivy giggled.

"Yeah, Grace is kinda awesome." She said, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear.

---

The cafe finished up somewhere around 10 pm after everyone was finished performing and the excitement of the night was starting to wind down. There had been comedians, singers, poets, and one girl reciting a shakespearean monologue, but it'd been pretty good all in all.

"Hey, how'd you like it?" Ivy asked and Logan smiled.

"It was really good." He said.

"I didn't know they did this." Oliver said and Ivy nodded.

"I know, I didn't either until Grace told me about it."

"Alright, you ready to head out? I think if we hurry we can still hang out at my house for a bit before my parents get home." Grace said and Ivy smiled, nodding, her face tinting pink.

"I'll see you guys then." Ivy said and Logan smiled.

"Seeya." Logan said and Ivy laced her finger's through Grace's, walking out with her.

"Do you have to go home right away or would you be into walking around town for a bit?" Oliver asked, leading against the table and Logan shrugged.

"I could probably hang out for a bit, I've got until 12." Logan said and Oliver smiled, stuffing his hands in his pockets and walking out, Logan following him.

"Not much is still open, we could just head out to the dock if you want." Oliver suggested and Logan smiled.

"Yeah, we could." He said and they walked down the street. It was technically private property that was part of a restaurant, but nobody really cared as long as nothing was trashed.

They sat down at the end of the small dock looking out onto the large lake. It was the lake that Lakeview was known for, it sat right behind the town and with the stars sitting overhead reflecting onto the water, it was breathtaking.

Logan sat cross-legged next to Oliver, just quietly staring out across the water. There was a gentle frost starting at the edges of the lake, it'd probably freeze over at some point during the winter, it always did. Logan rubbed at his arms, biting his lip as he tried to warm himself up, trying to keep himself from shaking. It was barely a minute before he felt a warm jacket being draped around him. He looked up at Oliver who gave a little half-smile.

"Oliver-"

"Take it, I'm too warm anyways." Oliver said and Logan knew that couldn't possibly be true, but he slid his arms through the sleeves of the thick leather jacket and pulled it closer around him, trying to ignore how much it smelled like his best friend's cologne.

"Thanks." Logan said quietly and Oliver nodded, smiling a little.

"No problem."

Logan wanted to tip over and lean his head on Oliver's shoulder, or scoot closer to him, or kiss him, but he didn't, he just sat there, only letting himself be as close as he was which was probably too close considering he was just out of a relationship and shouldn't be getting into a new one so soon, even if Oliver did like him.

"How's the art project coming by the way?" Oliver asked and Logan shrugged, resting his elbow on his knee and his chin in his hand.

"It's coming." Logan said. "It's just a lot of pressure, I don't know, I kind of want to drop out, I don't want anyone seeing it." Oliver pulled a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket and lit one, taking a drag of it. Logan could only stare at it, he was craving a cigarette, but he wasn't about to tell Oliver he was a smoker.

"How about after the competition, no matter what the result is, we can go out to the forest and chill at the overlook." Oliver said and Logan smiled, biting his lip and nodding, playing with the sleeves of Oliver's jacket.

"That sounds nice." He said quietly. "Maybe afterward you could come over and we could paint our nails and watch movies." He said with a giggle and Oliver chuckled.

"Or we could bring a couple sleeping bags and camp out there. We could get a fire set up and maybe some hot dogs or marshmallows, then we could sleep under the stars." Oliver said and Logan smiled wider.

"That would be so fun." Logan said excitedly. "And you could bring your guitar." He said with a quiet laugh and Oliver snorted.

"Absolutely not." Oliver said with a grin.

"You should definitely consider it though."

"Maybe if I can bring my camera and have you model for me."

"I'll think about it." Logan said and then Oliver checked his watch.

"It's getting pretty late, you should probably get home." Oliver said and Logan nodded with a small sigh.

"Yeah, you're right."

The two got up and walked back to the cafe, they didn't say goodbye until they were getting in their cars. Logan didn't stop smiling the whole way home, all he could think about was curling up, staring at the stars and falling asleep next to Oliver. It was only when he got home that he realized he'd forgotten to give Oliver's jacket back. He walked up to his room and took it off, folding it neatly on top of his dresser, deciding to give it back tomorrow.
