《Everything Inbetween Bones [BxB] ✓》Chapter 15

A/N: I was in the mood to do an Oliver chapter, so here it is. I've also been getting into Hobo Johnson lately so here you go. I hope everyone's having an awesome week.
Oliver hadn't seen his brother in almost six years. Judas had left when Oliver was eleven, he'd just turned eighteen and got in a fight. It wasn't a big deal to him, he'd gotten in a lot of fights in highschool, he'd been a bully, that only really got him a detention or a suspension at most, but then he was an adult, and he won the fight, he landed the guy in the hospital with a broken nose, two cracked ribs, and some internal bleeding. Judas barely had a scratch and was ruled guilty with six years in prison, it didn't help that he also had previous charges
Oliver didn't know who his brother was now, but he knew what he remembered him like. Judas had always been violent, even when they were little, hitting Oliver to get what he wanted, yelling, fighting their dad, but Judas also always got the brunt of the abuse. Oliver grew up in a violent house, his dad drinking and angry, his older brother that inherited it, and his mother who didn't know how to protect her children. He didn't want to grow up to be his father or his brother, getting put away for hurting innocent people. He hated how he was, what he acted like, he just wanted to be different, maybe for Logan.
He knew Logan couldn't handle violence, it scared him and brought up all the memories he tried so hard to forget. Logan had never told Oliver what happened when he was little, but he knew it was bad, something to do with drugs, he hated loud noises, fighting. That was why he never brought Logan over ever, aside from his dad being terrible, it was too tense even when it was empty. Oliver hated it there, it was why he spent most nights in his car, even in the winter.
He sighed softly as he waited outside the gates, he didn't know how to feel about Judas, what to do when he saw him, it'd been too long and he probably hadn't changed. Though his dad had seemed to cool down a bit more since hearing about him coming home, at first he was pissed, like, punch a hole in the wall, break the computer, shatter any innocent vase type pissed, but now he was back to his routine of drinking and coming home mad and going to work in the morning.
He wondered about Logan as he sat waiting in the parking lot. He seemed a little off, it was bugging Oliver to not know what was going on, but it wasn't like he could force Logan to tell him. He noticed the boy had been eating less, constantly wearing long sleeves, the panic attacks, he just worried about him. He wondered if he'd even gotten better after he went to the hospital freshman year. He ran his fingers through his hair. He felt like he was responsible for Logan's wellbeing in a sense, it wasn't right, but he wanted to take care of him, help him, fix everything. But Logan would hate that.
He looked up when he saw his brother, six years older, his hair a little longer than when he was a teen, a little taller too, he looked like more of a man now, but it was definitely still Judas. His brother walked around and Oliver unlocked the door, he didn't smile, there was nothing to be happy about.

"Hey, Squirt, how are you?" He asked, a smile on his face as he ruffled Oliver's locks. Why was he pretending that it'd been mere months instead of years since they'd last talked? Why was he acting like they were even brothers? They were never brothers, not by Oliver's standards anyways.
"I'm fine. Where do you want me to take you?" He asked, his voice monotonous. Judas' smile faltered, but when Oliver spared him a glance, he didn't look mad, he just looked a bit hurt.
"I don't know, where do you want to go?" He asked and Oliver shrugged.
"Why would it matter to you?" He asked coldly.
"Because I haven't seen you in six years, excuse me for wanting to spend some quality time with my little broth-"
"We're not brothers." He said, gritting his teeth. Judas nodded a little, his smile fading.
"I'm sorry I've been gone so long."
"I'd prefer you gone longer, actually." Oliver said, his fingers curled around the wheel tightly. Judas sighed, running his fingers through his dark chocolate hair.
"I know how I was when we were kids, I'm sorry, I made some shitty decisions, I treated you terribly, I know. I'm trying to be better than I was, I've changed..a lot. I don't want to be like dad, I've been doing everything I can to better myself for the past three years, I know you don't want to end up like him either." Judas said and Oliver glanced to him before staring ahead. "Why don't we got out to get ice cream or something? Catch up?"
"I'll drop you off at home. Dad sold your car, but you can call a cab." He said, driving out of the parking lot and towards his dad's house. Judas tried to talk to him a few times, but he didn't answer. After a few minutes, he stopped his car just outside of his dad's house.
"Get out." he said coldly and Judas looked to him before he scratched the back of his neck, getting out.
Oliver drove off, he didn't want to think, he just wanted to turn the music up too loud and drive. He stopped when he reached the hiking trail just outside of town, almost everyone knew about it, but not many people trailed twenty minutes off the path to find the overlook of cliffs above the train tracks below. It was always quiet up there, the only sound being the birds flapping overhead. There was a vast lake below, just past the tracks. You think a town called Lakeview would have something like this marked to death for a tourist attraction, but it wasn't, and not many tourists came to Lakeview anyways.
He sighed as he sat down, staring over the edge of the cliff. He wasn't suicidal or anything, he didn't sometimes think about falling over the edge, having nothing beneath him except the wind and tracks hundreds of feet below. No. He used to think like that, but he didn't anymore. He knew he couldn't put Logan through another loss, so if he wasn't living for himself, he had to do it for him.
He remembered Logan when they were kids, how timid he was, he used to almost never talk to anyone but Oliver, now everyone loved him, even if they weren't friends with him. Logan was kind of popular in a way, everyone sort of knew him because of how happy and funny he was, but he didn't have a lot of friends, he didn't bother himself with the cheerleaders or jocks, so he didn't have a big group like most of the popular kids, but he was the kind of person that could make friends with anyone.

Oliver knew Logan wasn't as happy as he looked, he never had been. He'd met him when they were in the 4th grade, Logan had been adopted the summer after third grade, he acted like it wouldn't stick, he probably didn't think it would anyways. Oliver remembered the first day he met him, Logan had been so shy but even then it was like someone turned on all the lights when he walked in the room. The teacher had paired them together as buddies because that's what happens with all the new kids in elementary school. Oliver still remembered the first thing the boy had said to him: "You have pretty eyes." Oliver still smiled a little at that, it was so Logan, even still.
He felt his phone buzz and smiled wider when he saw the contact flash across his screen accepting the call. Logan.
"Hey." Logan said.
"Hey, how was the movie?" Oliver asked, laying back on the rock.
"It was good, a little bit scary, but it was good."
"That's good, what did you end up watching?"
"Black Christmas."
"Oh, I've seen that, yeah, it was pretty good."
"How did it go with Judas?" He asked, Oliver paused.
"I don't know, he said he's trying to change or whatever, but.." Oliver sighed. "He's just..I don't know how to act like he's my brother, the last time I saw him I was eleven and I just feel like he hasn't..changed, I don't know, he acts different, but how long is that even going to last?"
"I mean, you've changed since you were eleven, why can't he have changed since he was eighteen?" Logan asked and Oliver shrugged, then realizing Logan wasn't actually there and couldn't see it.
"I guess you're right. I still don't know though, I'm just..worried I guess." He said.
"It's okay to be worried, you never knew him as a nice person, but maybe he really has changed." Logan said. Oliver thought about it.
"Yeah, maybe." He said quietly, though he didn't know if he really believed it.
"Oh, I've gotta go, but I'll see you Monday." Logan said.
"Alright, I'll seeya, Bear." He said and could almost feel Logan's smile.
"Bye, Oli."
He closed his eyes as he laid his phone next to him, staring up at the clouds. He wanted to stay there all day in the quiet. It was chilly but not cold. Oliver took a breath, he couldn't go see Logan, he'd bothered him enough.
After another few minutes he got up and started the walk back, he didn't know if he really wanted to go home, but he knew it was going to be colder. Maybe he'd just rent a hotel room, there was an inexpensive hotel a few miles out of town, he'd still be able to make it to school on time. He sighed, getting up. He knew he couldn't, he didn't have any money left and he knew better than to steal from his dad. He'd just have to sleep at his house.
--
Oliver stayed out for as long as possible. He stopped by the book store to get a coffee and stayed until they kicked him out around 10 pm. He drove around until 11 in hopes of his dad being asleep when he got home, though opening the front door and hear a bottle crash to the floor in the kitchen, he knew he was out of luck. He let out a quiet breath, walking up the stairs slowly before he heard his dad's voice.
"Oliver, get your ass in here!" The boy sighed and walked back down the stairs.
"Yeah, dad?" He asked, walking into the kitchen where his dad stood, leaning against the counter.
"Why don't you go get me another pack from the store?" He asked and Oliver gritted his teeth.
"You know I'm not of age to buy beer, why don't you ask Judas?" His dad walked over to his and held the collar of his shirt tightly, balling it up in his fist, his eyes cold as he looked at Oliver, he was just barely shorter than the boy.
"Are you telling me you're so incompetent that you can't drive your ass to the store and get me a drink?" He asked, his jaw locked and Oliver swallowed thickly.
"Why don't you just ask Judas?" He asked again and his dad only seemed to get angrier.
"Don't say his name, that bitch boy isn't my son."
"Dad, why don't you just go to bed, you've had enough to dr-"
"DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO, you little mother fucker." His words were slurred but he somehow still had the coordination to punch Oliver in the face. Oliver dodged the next hit and shoved his dad away, watching the man stumble and then ball his hands up so hard his knuckles turned white.
"You think you can fucking treat me like that? You have no respect for me anymore? I'll show you fucking respect." He growled and pulled a knife out of his pocket. That was all it took for Oliver to run. He could throw punches and shove his dad away, but he couldn't fight a knife with his fists.
He got in his car, leaving his dad seething in the driveway, shouting drunken curses. He parked outside of a denny's a few miles from his dad's house, trying to think what to do. He couldn't go to Logan's house again, he didn't want it to look like he was just using him, he couldn't sleep in his own house, couldn't stay at Jace's house. He sighed softly, taking out his phone, hovering over Judas's contact. He didn't know if it'd even still work, if he still had his old phone but it was all he could think to call. He listened to it ring and he paused as it was answered.
"Hey, Oliver? What's up?" His brother's voice asked.
"Can I..I don't know where you are or if you're even really staying anywhere, but can I come stay with you?"
