A/N: I honestly don't know how I got this chapter up today, usually it takes me all week to write a chapter, but I was working on an essay all week and I finished this in a span of 3 hours and I'm proud. Also, I recently discovered Mother Mother for the absolutely amazing band that they are and I'm obsessed, so I'll be using their songs occasionally now. Anyways, enjoy the chapter, comment if you want, and have a good week, friends.

Logan stood looking in his bedroom mirror, it had almost been thirty minutes, he'd changed three times, Oliver was coming in twenty minutes. He adjusted his large, black, cableknit sweater over his dark, ripped jeans. The sweater was practically falling off of him, it'd sort of fit two summers ago, he hadn't grown at all, he'd just lost almost 40 pounds since then. He'd always been short, and he was always sort of skinny, but after he'd gotten home from the hospital freshman year, he just stopped, not just eating, but taking care of himself. He still showered, he couldn't stand to feel dirty, but he didn't sleep now, didn't take his meds, didn't go to therapy, didn't care what happened to him.

The boy ran a shaky hand through his hair, watching his curls fluff right back into place, it always looked messy to him but Ivy said his curls were cute, so maybe Oliver would think so too. He shook his head. No, it's not a date, we're friends, he's straight he scolded himself, pulling his black sleeve down over his hand. The boy took a breath and paced around his room a bit, thinking through how he wanted the night to go, then how it would probably go. He figured it couldn't get much worse than how he imagined the second version to go. He imagined something along the lines of taking one sip of the drink and then eating the entire tub of popcorn and half way through the movie excusing himself into the bathroom where he would try to throw it all up and not be able to, then Oliver would walk in, be way too freaked out, and leave again. He knew deep down that probably wouldn't happen, but it could, and if it could, it probably would, and then Oliver would be gone all over again.

The red-head was stopped when he heard a ring at the door and rushed down to get it, quickly pattering down the stairs to the front door. He smiled a little and opened the door, seeing Oliver. The tall, dark haired boy stood there in a black t-shirt, black jeans and of course, a leather jacket, his hair was messed up in the hot way, the almost-intentional-if-he-even-cared-enough-about-it-to-intend-that-look kind of messy.

"Hey, you're not wearing yellow." Oliver said with a smile, looking Logan up and down.

"I told you black makes me look depressed." He said self consiously. Oliver shook his head.

"You look good in black." He said and Logan looked up at him for a second before he blushed and turned away.

"I gotta, um, say goodbye to my dad." He said before he walked off to the kitchen as fast as he could with it still being socially acceptable.

"Hey, who's at the door?" His dad asked and Logan played with his sleeve.

"Oliver."

"Oliver Cross? Boy, I haven't seen you two hang out in a long time." He said before he walked out to see Oliver. "Oliver, how are you?" He asked and Oliver smiled to him.

"I'm good, how are you, Mr. Pierce?"

"I'm just fine." He said with a smile. "What happened with you two, I swear it was just yesterday you guys were having sleepovers all the time and hanging out and suddenly I don't hear about you ever anymore." He said and Logan smiled guiltily.

"Just growing apart, I guess." Logan mumbled and Oliver shrugged.

"Guess we haven't grown apart as much as we thought, though." The taller boy said, leaning against the counter.

"Were you the one that drove Logan home the other night?" Matthew asked and Oliver nodded.

"Yes sir."

"Thank you so much, you're a blessing." He said and Oliver smiled.

"Hey, aren't we going to be late for our movie?" Logan asked, refraining from taking Oliver's hand to get his attention.

"Oh, don't let me keep you boys, you go right on ahead. Logan, be back before midnight, okay?" His dad said and Logan smiled, nodding.

"Do you know when Papa's getting home?" He asked and his Dad shook his head a little.

"He said sometime after ten, but he might be sleeping at the office tonight." He said and Logan nodded.

"Alright, I'll see you, Dad, I love you."

"I love you too, have a good time!" He said and Logan smiled, walking out with Oliver.

"You're Dad's still as sweet as always." Oliver chuckled and Logan nodded with a small smile.

"Yeah, I really love my Dads, they're more than I could ever ask for."

"They seem so perfect.." Oliver said, almost sounding jealous.

"They sort of are..I mean, obviously, they fight, they bicker, sometimes they really dislike eachother, but they love eachother, so they make it work. I want whatever they have, you know, I don't know if I'll ever get it, but I want it."

"You're allowed to want whatever, they've got a good relationship, I think anyone wants that. I'm sure you'll find an amazing person to spend your life with that will care for you and love you because that's what you deserve, you're so sweet and funny and caring...you deserve someone who can give you that back." He said and Logan thought about that. He didn't know if he deserved all that, but it sounded nice.

"What if they get bored of me?"

"No one could get bored of you." He said, stopping at a red light. "You're infinitely interesting." Logan giggled a little at that.

"Yeah right."

"I'm serious, I was friends with you for almost 9 years and never got bored of you once." He said and Logan rolled his eyes.

"You're not so bad yourself." He said and Oliver smiled.

"Want some music?" The taller boy asked and Logan nodded. "Still the same taste?"

"Roughly, I'm more into alternative than rock now, though." He said and Oliver chuckled. "What? what are you into?"

"Bit of rock, bit of screamo, bit of rap, you know, the usual."

"Better than pop." Logan said.

"True."

The movie wasn't really all that scary, of course, it was like every other horror Logan had seen this year. This didn't stop Logan from jumping whenever there was a jumpscare, he was just gullible when it came to movies, he couldn't help it. He could swear he'd heard Oliver chuckle a few times when it happened and he'd just blushed and tried to watch the movie. Once Oliver had leaned over to whisper "too scary?" in the most patronizing way and Logan had hit his arm only for Oliver to look slightly amused and go back to watching the movie.

When they were walking out, Oliver tossed the empty popcorn bag which had been solely eaten by him. He looked to Logan with a small smile.

"You wanna go to the coffee shop and get something before we leave?" He asked and Logan smiled, nodding. Coffee was okay, he could do coffee, black coffee, only black coffee. But he hated sugar and creamer anyways, right?"

"Yeah, lets go." He said and Oliver smiled back, walking down the strip towards the coffee shop, it wasn't far past the theatre.

"What'd you think?" Oliver asked.

"Of the movie?"

"Yeah."

"It was generic, unoriginal, it wasn't even that scary, the actors and cinematography were pretty good, though."

"Yeah, because it totally wasn't scary when you were squeaking and jumping like a girl." Oliver chuckled and Logan blushed, pulling his fingers through his hair.

"I'm just jumpy at horrors, it doesn't mean I'm like, really scared, I just react." He said, shrugging.

"You're allowed to be scared of horror movies, Logan."

"I know I am, it just wasn't scary."

"No, it wasn't, but you were still scared."

"I wasn't!"

"Were too."

"Wasn't."

"Yes, you were. But you're cute when you get all scared over the stupid jumpscares anyways, I forgot how gullible you are." He laughed a little. Logan smiled and rolled his eyes only thinking one thing. did he call me cute?

"I'm not gullibl-" Oliver looked to the side of him, his eyes widening.

"Oh my god, look." He said, pointing to a car and Logan jerked his head to the side before he heard Oliver chuckle. He elbowed Oliver in the side with a small smile as he kept walking.

"Asshole." He said with a smile, shaking his head.

"No, I think the term you're looking for is emo satanist with bad time management." He said and Logan laughed.

"So what do you think about me based purely off of my clothing?" Logan asked and Oliver thought a minute.

"Alright, based purely off clothing, a bit nerdy, trying to be more comfortable than fashionable, you look like you're always cold, but you look inviting, you look honest, like you're not trying to fool anyone." Oliver said, hands in his pockets as he walked.

"You're not off by too much." Logan said and Oliver smiled a little.

"I wasn't guessing what you're actually like or who you are, even with two years apart, I still know you well enough to say half of that's wrong." Oliver said and Logan shrugged, though he could feel his chest tightening.

"I've gotten better with the lying."

"Better with lying or better at lying? You look tired." Oliver said, he was pretty blunt sometimes.

"I still get the nightmares sometimes, and they've gotten worse recently." He said quietly.

"You didn't deserve to go through that shit."

"I know." Logan said, though he didn't really.

The converation was finished there as they got to the coffee shop and Oliver walked up to the counter with Logan.

"Can I get a flat white?" Oliver asked and looked to Logan.

"Just a black coffee is fine." He said and Oliver nodded as the barista smiled and moved to prepare it.

"Since when do you drink black?" Oliver asked.

"My tastes have changed."

"What else has?" Oliver asked. A lot had, but Logan didn't know how much of that he could tell him.

"I've started writing more, like, in a journal." Is that what you call the hours of jotting down numbers? Journaling? He brushed off the thought.

"That's awesome, I got a new camera lense just recently."

"Remember when you first got into photography and carried that camera around with you everywhere?" Logan asked and Oliver chuckled

"Yeah, oh god, it wasn't even a good camera, it was like, the oldest Nikon I could find because it was all I could afford." Oliver said with a laugh.

"Oli, stoppit." Logan giggled, holding his hands over his face as the dark haired boy smiled and snapped another photo.

"I'm capturing beauty." He defended and Logan rolled his eyes.

"I'm not beautiful." He said, looking away from his best friend.

"All life is beautiful, you especially though." Oliver said, turning his camera off as he laid down in the grass, closing his eyes.

"Why me?" Logan asked, sitting criss-crossed with his back against the tree.

"Because..you just are, you're beautiful, I can't explain it." He said and Logan smiled, looking up at the clouds.

"That sounds pretty gay."

"I don't care." Oliver said and Logan looked at him.

"Are you gay?"

"Maybe, I don't know, does being straight mean I can't think a guy's beautiful?"

"Yeah, you're only allowed to look at girls like that if you're straight."

"I might be gay." Oliver said and Logan sat there for a little while.

"I like Mark." Logan said quietly, letting out a shallow breath.

"Mark Taylor?" He asked and Logan nodded.

"Like, like like him. Dad said it's okay, but I should be careful telling people, he said he got hit for liking boys when he was younger." He said, playing with his sleeves.

"I won't let anyone hurt you."

Logan was pulled out of his thoughts when Oliver waved a hand in front of his face.

"Hey, where'd you go?" He asked with a chuckle and Logan smiled, realizing they were sitting at a table and he had his coffee in hand.

"Just thinking, I guess." He said quietly.

"About what?"

"Us, I mean, I don't know, we used to hang out all the time."

"I wish we could go back to that." Oliver said, swirling a spoon around his drink. Logan stared down into his coffee. He'd missed Oliver so much, He wanted to tell him about everything, about the numbers and the pills and lies and Jace, he wanted to tell him that he didn't want to be an artist anymore because his school counselor told him it was an unrealistic dream, he wanted Oliver to know, but he couldn't seem to get the words out of his mouth.

"Yeah, I'd like that." He said quietly, taking a sip of his coffee.
