"I don't want to talk to you."

She frowned, "B, please? Just five minutes."

I shake my head knowing Jordy isn't even aware of her presence at my house, "No, definitely not right now."

"We can stand outside and talk? I just... please?" her frown grows deeper as her voice comes out weak.

I stare at her for a moment, silently contemplating it. It would help to get it over with, besides Jordy wouldn't care as long as it's kept appropriate. I'd just tell her later.

"Fine."

Earlier that day.

"And you're sure you're ready to go back?" Jordy asks with a stern expression.

I nod as I roll my suitcase to their front door. It's officially been a week since I've been staying at Jordy and Journee's house with no sign of Rowan, I think I can finally go home. "Yes, I'm sure."

Jordy sighs as she grabs her keys, "Okay."

"Don't forget our secret Santa party tonight!" Journee calls from the kitchen.

I chuckle. "I won't!"

The drive to my house was quick and exciting, although, I noticed Jordy was slightly nervous. However, I felt excited to see my mom, sleep in my old room, and eat all the baked treats that my mom always made so perfectly.

Arriving at my house, my mom greeted us both with love and strawberry danishes, which were perfectly soft and sweet. Jordy ended up hanging out with me all day just to assure that I settled in comfortably and felt at ease. When the evening came, she had to head back to her place to get ready while I got ready at mine, planning to drive over to her house after. Something I also missed, driving.

I got dressed in a long sleeve red dress that stopped at my mid-thigh with white fur lining the end of it. My makeup was natural while my hair remained down with a Santa hat matching my dress perfectly. I pulled a white jacket on along with my white calf-high booties before exiting my room. I grabbed the present I had for Eva, who I got for secret Santa, and the one for Jordy which I'd give to her later.

The house was coated with quietness due to my mom being away at a holiday party for work, but she still left me a festively decorated brownie that she'd made for the party. I smiled at the treat, but my smile was quickly wiped from my face when I heard the doorbell echo throughout the large house. My stomach twisted into a giant knot as I carefully set the presents on the counter and answered the door.

I grew nervous at the sight of her. My mouth running dry, my hands trembling, and my breathing growing shallow. Rowan.

"What... what are you doing here?" I shake my head as I take a step back from the door. She looked just how she did back then, except her style matured along with her features. Her blonde hair was slicked into a low bun as she wore a maroon button-up with black pants and matching dress shoes. Her black trench coat covered most of her outfit while her face remained bare and clean.

Rowan smiled softly at the sight of me. "Hey, B." she greeted. "Love the festive outfit."

I blink a few times registering her presence causing her to purse her lips.

"Look I know this is a little much, and I know you don't want to talk to me—"

"So why don't you leave me alone?" I cut her off coldly with narrowed eyes.

Rowan's expression grows sad, "I just... I really need to talk to you."

"Fine."

Rowan lets out a sigh of relief as I reluctantly step out onto the front porch closing the door behind me.

"Well... talk." I urged her bitterly.

Rowan pursed her lips, "I'm sorry, and I know it's too late—I'm not saying this with hopes that we'll ever get back together. I'm saying this because you deserve to hear it, you deserve to be free of the trauma burden I put on you. That's why it was so important I talked to you. You kept popping up in my head more than usual these past couple months, and while I was used to thinking about you and feeling bad—this time it was different, this time I felt the need to come talk to you and tell you this."

I stayed silent with a surprised look easily displayed on my face. This was the last thing I expected from her. "I... okay?" I said, hesitation clear in my tone.

"I'm sorry for cheating, B—you were so invested in me... in us. And I fucked it up," she said. "It was all me. I hope you never thought that it was your fault or that you did something wrong... I just got jealous of your lab partner and thought something was happening. Still, none of it was right and there's nothing in the world I could say that would correct my past behavior."

I blinked a few times, a weight lifting off my chest due to her explanation. An explanation I never got to here given that I refused to hear her out... and then I moved at the end of summer, without saying goodbye. This feels nice. Knowing that it wasn't my fault, it's sad that I got cheated on, and thought I had something to do with it. That it was all my fault. It was unfair to do to myself, but without anything else to go off of, I couldn't help it. It made me question our entire relationship, and what I did wrong to push her to those decisions.

"I won't say I've forgiven it, but I can officially say I'm past it. I appreciate... you saying this. I actually needed it more than I thought." I said.

Rowan nods with a warm smile. "I appreciate that you let me say it." she said as she began backing away from the porch. "Clearly you have somewhere to be, but I wish you all the luck in life... you seem happy here, B."

I smiled as I thought of Jordy and all of my amazing friends, "Yeah... I really am."

Rowan nodded her smile growing before she walked off the porch toward her car while I entered back into my warm house, feeling more content than ever. I grabbed the presents from the counter and left my house, rushing to get over to Jordy's and Journee's.

When I arrived, everyone was already sipping egg nog and waiting on me to take Christmas pictures. After taking pictures and conversing with everyone about school, and how fast the semester snuck by us, we exchanged presents. I gave Eva the new Chanel bag that she had her eye on these past few weeks, while Luca—who got me for secret Santa—got me the new iPad that I desperately wanted. I gave Jordy the white gold and diamond Cartier Love bracelet with our intitals engraved in it, knowing how much she loved jewelry, especially when it was custom. After presents, Jordy pulled me to the side, guiding us both up to her room.

"Jordyn..." I trailed off as she closed the door behind us, knowing I should tell her I talked to Rowan, since we finally have a moment alone. "I need to tell you something."

Jordy tilted her head. "It seems serious, is everything okay?"

I nodded as we both sat down on her soft bed. "Yeah, I um, talked to Rowan."

Her eyes visibly widened, not expecting me to say that. "Okay... how did it go?"

I let out a sigh of relief at her calm reaction before a smile coated my features. "Really good, Jor. She apologized for everything that happened without expecting anything in return. I finally got an explanation on why it all happened since I never heard her out back then." I said and Jordy smiled, knowing I got the closure I never new I needed. "I feel good... really good."

Jordy pecked my cheek briefly, "That's really good, Elle. You deserve to finally leave that all in the past, where it belongs."

My smile turned into a grin as I stared into her comforting eyes, "I love you so much."

"I love you too, Elle." she murmured before placing a soft warm kiss on my lips. I furrowed my brows when she pulled back slightly, but my brows instantly raised when she pulled a ring box from her cream pants that her sage green sweater was tucked into.

"Jordyn..." I trailed off, clearly caught off guard.

Jordy laughed. "Don't worry, I'm not proposing, you deserve a better proposal than this." she gestured around us before her face turned slightly serious. "I'm promising you a future. I'm promising us a future. I want you to wear this ring knowing that I want to build a life with you, and make even more memories with you. I want you to know that you're it for me, you're the one and that no matter how tough things get, I'll always fight for you—for us. I love you so fucking much Brielle, I promise it's you and me until the end."

My eyes swelled with tears as she opened the ring box, revealing a light pink square cut ring with a silver band. I couldn't help but tackle her into the biggest hug that I've ever given to someone. Light laughs escaped her lips as I clung to her, happy tears streaming down my face. Everything feels like it's falling into place perfectly.

"I... wow Jordyn, that was so beautiful. It's us forever." I said before placing a kiss on her lips, along with another, and another—and another. "I love you. So so much." I pressed another kiss to her soft lips, except this one was deeper, with more intention behind it.

Jordy chuckled as we pulled back from the warm kiss. "Don't start something we can't finish right now."

I raised a brow, "Who said we couldn't finish?"

"We have a party waiting for us downstairs..." she reminds me as she takes the beautiful ring from the black velvet box.

I smiled. "Guess, I'll have to find you after the party."

"Oh yeah?"

"Oh yeah." I said.

She smiled softly as her gaze diverted to my hand, "Merry Christmas Elle." she murmured as she slid the ring onto my ring finger.

"Merry Christmas Jordyn." I said as I processed the ring weighing down my finger. Everything is perfect, my past is behind me, my present is more than I could ever ask for—and my future is... well my future is Jordyn and much more that will follow. To think one person changed my life is insane, but she did. And I wouldn't want it any other way.
