Riley's P.O.V
My eyes slowly peeled open due to my phone alarm, I snapped my attention to the clock "7:30am" it read, I let out a deep groan before tending to my younger sibling.
"Yas, get your ass out of bed. We've got school!" I wailed through the walls of this house.
Proceeding to look presentable my attention turned to my wardrobe. My eyes wondered at my burgundy pinafore skirt, along with a long sleeved white top and a tattered pair of white slip on vans.
Make up was applied to my tired and sleep deprived face. I looked at my small wings. Well, one of my small wings, the other one was almost touching my eyebrow. I managed to correct them leading me to the next task: Make sure Yasmin was awake. Marching into Yasmines room, I yanked her duvet off her and Yasmins groggy voice snapped "Fuck off Rile, It's too early!"
"Excuse me missy, you're 16 years old. Don't swear at your elders!" I snapped mildly entertained with Yasmins outburst. She gave me a death stare and mimed "Fuck off." As I inspected whether or not she was okay to be left alone and not fall asleep. Satisfied with my findings, I went to make breakfast.
Yasmin jumped down the stairs. "Can you make me a cuppa please? Oh, and can I have eggs and bacon? Not feeling waffles today."
I looked up from stirring my coffee. "Sure."
I adored it when Yasmin would depend on me. It reminded me of when we were younger and she used to come to me with everything. Due to our parents divorce, nowadays I'll be lucky to know what the name of her bestfriend is.
We were both silent over breakfast. I felt the comfortable fullness in my stomach and we were ready to start the day. I plucked my car keys from the hook as Yas dissapeared upstairs to get her bag. I heaved my ruck sack over my back and we left through the front door. We got to my car and headed to school. I was a senior and she was in 10th grade. It was easy because we were both in the same school. I dread to think what would happen if I got into college. I shook my head ridding the uneasy thought. I hadn't realised Yas was observing.

The auburn haired girl looked at me. "You okay?"
I shuffled in my seat before replying.."Yeah, sorry, I'm in my own world."
She scoffed. "I'd hate to know what happens there."
I felt a wave of comfort in her banter. "Shut up!" I mocked.
I pulled into the car park and we both headed into the building. We got into the hall where they gave us our schedules.
Yasmin looked at hers. "Ugh, I'm studying American history! I'm not even American. What did I do to deserve this?!" She dismayed.
I sent a simper smile at Yasmin, snapping my curiosity at my schedule for film studies. My eyes narrowed. "Miss Scarlett?" I muttered in question. My gut was telling me that I'd heard that name before. Maybe I still needed to wake up.
Yas looked at me. "Did you say something?"
My attention left the schedule. "Nope, no, just talking to myself." Was all I could muster up as quick as that.
We walked to our first classes and Yas shot me a nervous gaze.
"You got this. Everyone's going to love you." I reassured, trying to convince myself of that aswell.
"Text me when you can? I don't know anyone here, Rile." She frowned, trying to remove a stray eyelash from her eye.
"I will okay? Enjoy your first class!" I waited until she left before I disappeared through her threshold, I took a deep breath in and I disappeared into mine. It'll be okay. Just breath.

Shadow in the North
What if a work of fiction wasn't fiction at all? What if we only thought it was fiction because it was written down, and we were separated from it by the page? Isabel Darrow, troubled by her past and feeling disconnected from the world, likes her doctor's suggestion that the world of fiction might become reality. She likes the idea of waking up in the middle of her favourite book with the handsome, brooding Mr Thornton glaring at people in his mill yard, but she doesn't worry about the foul air of dirty, smoky Milton, because it's not real, and it was written over 160 years ago.But then she takes a trip to Oxford, and gets waylaid along the way, finding herself greeted at a smoky train station, by a man called Mr Hale, who claims to be her godfather. When Isabel meets Margaret and first sees Mr Thornton, she's determined to help the course of love run a little more smoothly for the two stubborn lovers. But Gaskell hadn't accounted for a second young lady in the Crampton house, and whilst Isabel tries to adapt to a life where women have no independence or equality, Milton must adapt to her. The question is, will Mr Thornton adapt to her, or Margaret, first?
