《Soulmates/ Jolby》Chapter seventeen

Brown eyes study the multiple pieces of paper in front of them as Kat rereads everything Reggie taught her that day. The man knows his way around witchcraft, and Kat couldn't be anymore excited about learning new stuff. The small smile on her face as she reads the scribbled hand writing is a clear sign of her determination.
"Babe, take a quick break. You haven't stopped studying that since you got back from training four hours ago." Sam says, amused by his girlfriends behavior.
"I can't! It was my first day, and I don't want to disappoint Reggie tomorrow by not knowing anything." Kat says, eyes never leaving the papers in front of her.
Sam laughs before giggling out a response, "It's just Reggie, Kat."
"To you, Maybe, but to me he's my teacher!" Kat says, quickly turning around to face Sam.
No real anger was on her pretty face, but Sam knew that once she started something she really loved; she wasn't going down without a fight.
"Okay, Baby. Have fun studying." Sam says, chuckling before heading out the door.
Kat looks at the door for a few short seconds before turning back to her work. Finding herself not being able to focus, Kat picks herself up and goes across the hall to her Alpha's room. The small, bubbly girl likes to go to her boyfriends best friend when she need motivation for work, and that is exactly what she needs.

"This has to be translated wrong." Colby mumbles, rubbing his fingers through his hair.
"Reggie knows what he's doing, Colbs." Jake replies, massaging his fiancés shoulders a bit.
Colby is reading over what Reggie has translated so far; that being only the first twenty pages. So far in the translations it has talked about different kind of healing spells, and ways to change your form. Everything was making sense until Colby got to the second to last page.
"I refuse to believe that some kind of fucking apocalypse is going to happen. That's crazy Jake-" Colby says frantically.
"Is it? Is it really all that crazy to think about? I mean come on, Colbs! People are turning this world to shit, and you really can't believe that an apocalypse is possible?" Jake interrupts, agitation is clear on his face.
Colby nods his head in agreement, "what're we going to do, Jake?" Colby runs his hands through his hair ruffly.
Jake sighs before running his hand over Colby's cheek, " The only thing we can do; wait for Reggie to finish translating the book."

Before either of the two boys could get up, the adorable frame of Kat comes hopping through the door. Seeing the fake smiles on her two friends faces makes her smile disappear a bit.
"What's wrong?" Kat asks warmly.
Colby stands from his desk chair and smiles at Kat. The Alpha knows that it's not a good time to tell everyone, especially his girls. Colby doesn't want anyone knowing about the possible apocalypse until Reggie finishes the whole book. The boy is still trying to figure out if telling Sam would be a good idea.
"We're fine, K. Jake is still worried about Reggie being mad at him." It hurt Colby to lie to his friends face, but it needed to be done.
Kat, believing what her Alpha told her, turns to Jake and makes sure to reassure him that Reggie was over what happened.
"What is it that you wanted, K?" Colby asks when she's done talking to Jake.
"Oh! I was wanting some motivation to keep studying." Kat says, a stressed expression on her face.
Colby chuckles at the girls determined mind set. Knowing that she needs a break, Colby starts to form a plan to get her to stop for the day.
"What's the first ingredient to put into an advanced healing potion, and why?" Colby asks, a small smile on his face.
Kat looks at Colby curiously, but answers anyways, ". . . Blood of bear, because bears are known for healing the sick."
Colby only smiles at the girl in front of him before he takes the multiple papers from her hands. The small girl struggles to get them back, but fails.
"You will get these back once you've had a break. Alphas orders." Colby says, triumphantly smiling at Kat.
Kat pouts and starts to grumble on her way out the door. Colby and Jake laugh out loud when they hear stomping coming from the stairs; knowing that Kat is going to pout, but will stop once she sees Sam.
•••
Colby paces back and forth in the library of the house, waiting for his four guests to arrive. Before Colby can pace a hole in the ground, there is knocking on the huge doors. Jake, Sam, and Reggie rush over to where their Alpha is stiffly standing.
"He's on his way." Jake gruffly says, already knowing what Colby was going to ask.
Colby would have found the action sexy if there wasn't another knock on the door, distracting the alpha from his handsome mate. The person doesn't wait for permission to come in, and busts through the entrance. Colby is shocked at the sight of Elton; not because he didn't expect him, but because the man looks like he hasn't slept for days.

"My friend, what happened?" Colby asks, giving Elton a quick hug.
"Had a run in with a flock of demons." Elton says, exhaustion clear in his voice.
"Maybe we should wait to tell them until tomorrow. . . ?" Jake suggests. "No! I'm fine, Jake" Elton quickly replies.
Seeing this as a good time to start, Colby motions for everyone to sit down.
"I've called you all here to discuss a serious matter, but before I do that; I have to explain what happened first." Colby starts.
Seeing no objections Colby starts again, "As you all know, Reggie is here to teach Kat about witchcraft. What you all don't know is that he is also here to translate a book Jake found awhile back. A few days back Jake found a mysterious book outside, and brought it to me. After looking at it I realized that it was a witch book, but the problem was I couldn't read it; that is why Reggie is here. Reggie started working on the book immediately, and figured out something terrible. That thing is why I've called you all here."
Colby makes sure everyone is following along before going right back to what he was saying, "Reggie translated a possible apocalypse. He even translated it three more times after that, and it was still the same. We have an apocalypse approaching us, boys, so what are we going to do?"
After finishing, Colby looks up to look at his friends. Elton looks even more tired than he did before, Sam looks scared, and Reggie and Jake are darkly looking down to the floor. Sam raises his eyes to look at Colby; the action sends shivers down Colby's back, because he can see the disappointment in his eyes.
"Why didn't you tell me about the book sooner?" Sam asks.
Colby clears his throat before answering, "I didn't want to worry you, especially since I didn't know if it was just nothing."
"We have to form a plan." Elton says, interrupting Sam and Colby's moment.
"I know you guys are probably scared, but we have to form a plan. We have to stop this thing before it even fucking starts." The demanding, gruff voice that Elton uses makes even Colby cringe a bit.
The boys look at each other, knowing that they are humanity's only hope of survival at this point.
•••
"Elton! You're back!" Sarah screams before running over to Elton, and jumping in his arms.
"I told you I would come back, Princess." Elton says, a smile on his tired face. "Do you have the necklace still?" Elton adds.
Sarah pulls the bullet necklace from under her shirt, and holds it out to show Elton.
"She hasn't taken it off since you left." Sam says from his spot on the couch.
Everyone watches at the hunter and werewolf bond. Before Elton can say anymore about his fight with the vampires awhile back, Colby call him into the kitchen. Sarah hesitantly gets off Elton before walking over to Corey, and sitting on his lap.
•••
"You wanted to see me, Colby." Elton says walking into the kitchen.
Colby looks up from the marble counter to look at Elton. The older man raises an eyebrow at the younger before moving closer.
"I want you to join the pack." Colby says, getting right to the point.
Elton stares at Colby for a few short seconds before busting out laughing. Seeing that Colby isn't laughing, Elton stops immediately.
"Oh, you're serious." Elton looks at the alpha in front of him like he's crazy, "You do realize I'm a hunter, right?" He adds,
Colby sighs before explaining to the man, "I know. I want you here not only for protection, but the apocalypse could happen at anytime and I need you here to plan. We- I need you, Elton."
At the sight of the pouting boy in front of him, Elton nods his head.
"How do I become apart of the pack?" Elton asks curiously.
"Well, everyone in the pack has to agree, so we'll have to-" Colby is cut off from both Sam and Sarah telling from the living room.
"We all agree!!!"
At these words, Elton feels a pull in his stomach. He's not sure what it is, but it's uncomfortable.
"It's the pack bond, Elt." Colby explains, chuckling at his friends facial expression.
Elton barely has time to get use to the feeling of the pull before he is engulfed in a huge group hug. Elton starts to realize a few seconds in, that the pull has stopped, and comfort has taken over his body. Without any warning, Elton falls asleep in the arms of his pack members; feeling the most content he has ever felt.
